Tates Creek defeated West Jessamine today by a score of 61-33.  Oney Harrison and Dominique Etling-Turner led Tates Creek with 20 and 17 points respectively.  Michelle Tichenor added nine points and Peyton Hisel recorded seven points and seven rebounds.

5-6 Sr. Sarah Currey and Erin Conner led West Jessamine with 11 and nine points respectively.

Madison Southern coach Shane Buttry started the following lineup: 6-2 Jr. Brandon McGuire, 5-11 So. Michael Rothermel, 6-3 Sr. Aaron Ponder, 5-9 Sr. AJ Jeck, and 5-11 Jr. Chris Roberts.  Sayre coach Ted Hall countered with 6-1 Jr. Reid Freeman, 5-9 Sr. Griffin Miller, 6-6 So. Ray Brewer, 5-11 Sr. Cabot Haggin, and 5-9 So. Mike Smith.

Madison Southern led 35-29 at halftime but Sayre rallied for a 71-55 victory.  Sayre outscored Madison Southern 24-10 in the third quarter.  Sayre’s Mike Smith lit up the scoreboard in the second half as he scored 25 points after the intermission.

Sayre shot 54.7% from the field including five of 15 from beyond the arc.  The Spartans connected on eight of 13 free throws, pulled down 37 rebounds, and scored 16 points off 12 Madison Southern turnovers.  Madison Southern shot 39.6% from the field including 13 of 34 from beyond the arc.  The Eagles connected on four of six free throws, pulled down 19 rebounds, and scored 16 points off 11 Sayre turnovers.

Mike Smith led Sayre with 36 points including four three point baskets, pulled down six rebounds, and recorded four steals.  Smith was 15 of 23 from the field including four of eight from the three point line and two of three from the free throw line.  Cabot Haggin added 11 points, six rebounds, and five steals.  Ray Brewer recorded nine points and 11 rebounds.

Chris Roberts led Madison Southern with 17 points including five three point baskets.  Brandon McGuire added 16 points including four three point baskets.  AJ Jeck chipped in with 13 points including two three point baskets.  Aaron Ponder recorded nine points, nine rebounds, and four assists.

Derek Jeffries, 5-9 Sr. Jake Hartlage, and 5-4 Jr. Tommy Williams.  East Jessamine coach Chris O’Bryan countered with 6-1 Sr. Andrew Brockman, 6-0 Jr. Cody Collins, 6-3 Sr. Jordan Redd, 6-0 Jr. Cameron Thomas, and 5-11 Jr. Michael Rexroat.

East Jessamine trailed most of the game but rallied to defeat Henry County by a score of 53-51.  Jordan Redd scored the winning basket with a “floater” in the lane with 5.7 seconds remaining in the game.

East Jessamine shot 40% from the field including four of 14 from the three point line, and nine of 13 from the free throw line.  Henry County shot 42.9% from the field including three of 10 from beyond the arc , and connected on six of eight free throws.

Cody Collins led East Jessamine with 13 points.  Jordan Redd added 10 points and seven rebounds and Andrew Brockman chipped in with nine points.

5-9 Sr. Ben Schroeder led Henry County with 15 points including three three point baskets.  Spud Baldwin added 14 points.

Holmes defeated West Jessamine by a score of 73-63.  Holmes shot 54.5% from the field including seven of 14 from the three point line.  The Bulldogs connected on 18 of 21 free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and scored 13 points off eight West Jessamine turnovers.  West Jessamine shot 42.6% from the field including three of 16 from beyond the arc.  The Colts connected on 14 of 19 free throws, pulled down 24 rebounds, and scored 16 points off 14 Holmes turnovers.

Jaleel Gray led Holmes with 27 points including three three point baskets.  Gray was 12 of 13 from the field including three of three from the three point line.  Chris Hayes added 18 points including three three point baskets.  Dontel Rice chipped in with 13 points and 10 rebounds.  Daquan Palmer also reached double figures with 10 points.

Chase Fain led West Jessamine with 20 points, six rebounds, and four assists.  Dylan Pohl added 19 points and six rebounds.  Sean Donaldson chipped in with 10 points.

Tates Creek held on down the stretch to defeat Lexington Catholic by a score of 54-49.  This was a game that had all the intensity by both players and fans to be worthy of a regional championship.  Neither team could find their rhythm on offense as a result of aggressive defense by both teams.

Tates Creek shot 41.3% from the field including two of eight from the three point line.  The Commodores connected on 14 of 20 free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored 17 points off 20 Lexington Catholic turnovers.  Lexington Catholic shot 36.4% from the field including seven of 22 from beyond the arc.  The Knights connected on 10 of 13 free throws, pulled down 29 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 21 Tates Creek turnovers.

Darius Gibson led Tates Creek with 15 points.  Gibson was five of six from the field including one of one from the three point line and four of six from the free throw line.  Ryan Fucci added 14 points, eight rebounds, and six assists.  6-4 So. Braxton McFarland chipped in with 11 points.  Marcellus Barksdale recorded 10 points, nine rebounds, and four steals.

Taylor Martin led Lexington Catholic with 15 points, 12 rebounds, six assists, and three steals.  Scott Schuette added 12 points including three three point baskets.  Seth Beckham chipped in with seven points and six rebounds.

Lexington Catholic captured a 67-66 overtime thriller over Dunbar on a three point basket by Octavia Wilson with 0.6 seconds remaining in the overtime period.  Lexington Catholic shot 35.9% from the field including five of 10 from the three point line.  The Lady Knights connected on 16 of 26 free throws, pulled down 55 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 17 Dunbar turnovers.  Dunbar shot 36.2% from the field including five of 17 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Bulldogs connected on 11 of 20 free throws, pulled down 37 rebounds, and scored 27 points off 27 Lexington Catholic turnovers.

Octavia Wilson led the victors with 31 points including three three point baskets and 12 of 14 free throws.  Alex Botkin and Emily Johns each recorded eight points and 12 rebounds.  5-4 so. Sarah Cawood also scored eight points. Elizabeth Walton chipped in with four points and 10 rebounds.

Scott County erased a 35-31 halftime deficit to capture a 72-65 victory over Madison Central.  Scott County trailed 51-50 entering the final quarter but outscored Madison Central 22-14 in the final quarter.

5-10 Sr. Kristen Stainback led the victors with 29 points.  5-10 Sr. Alex McKenzie had a “monster” game with 20 points and 19 rebounds.  5-11 Fr. Tereka Guyn recorded 10 points and six rebounds.

5-5 So. Larryn Brooks led Madison Central with 23 points.  5-9 Sr. Jenna Cornelison added 17 points.  5-6 Sr. Erika Parks also reached double figures with 12 points.

Walton-Verona coach Cory Miller started the following lineup: 5-11 So. Courtney Sandlin, 5-6 Jr. Lizzie Hoffa, 5-11 Sr. Kelli Dixon, 5-5 Jr. Katie Slavey, and 5-5 Jr. Kara Taulbee.  Lafayette coach Allison Denton countered with 5-10 Sr. Mackenzie Graham, 5-7 Jr. Emily Justice, 6-2 Sr. Shomari Kendrick, 5-2 Sr. Jariana Gillespie, and 5-5 Jr. Sarah Martin.

Walton-Verona led 33-29 at halftime and pulled away in the second half to earn a 58-45 decision over Lafayette.  Lafayette could only score 26 points in the second half and only shot 19.2% from the field after intermission.

Walton-Verona shot 44% from the field including eight of 20 from the three point line.  The Lady Bearcats connected on six of seven free throws, pulled down 35 rebounds, and scored 12 points off 13 Lafayette turnovers.  Lafayette shot 34% from the field including four of 13 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Generals connected on seven of eight free throws, and scored 12 points off 18 Walton-Verona turnovers.

Kara Taulbee led Walton-Verona with 17 points including five three point baskets and pulled down five rebounds.  Kelli Dixon added 15 points and 6-0 So. Michele Judy chipped in with 10 points and five rebounds.

Shomari Kendrick led Lafayette with 13 points and 11 rebounds.  Jariana Gillespie added 13 points, seven rebounds, four assists, and four steals.  Sarah Martin recorded 12 points including two three point baskets.
