Henry Clay (15-12) vs. Lafayette (9-16) (Boys)

Lexington KY February 17th  -  Henry Clay avenged an earlier loss to Lafayette with an 87-74 victory over the Generals tonight.  The hot-shooting Henry Clay Blue Devils were 59.2% from the field and 22 of 23 from the free throw line. 6-4 Sr. Deron Linton of Lafayette who missed the entire season due to a heart condition was allowed to start and score the first basket and then went to the bench.  This was truly a class gesture by both teams to honor a young man who would have been one of the better players in the region if healthy.

Henry Clay shot 59.2% from the field including seven of 16 from the three point line.  The Blue Devils connected on 22 of 23 free throws, pulled down 33 rebounds, and scored 10 points off seven Lafayette turnovers.  Lafayette shot 48.1% from the field including seven of 20 from beyond the arc.  The Generals connected on 17 of 22 free throws, pulled down 19 rebounds, and scored 16 points off 13 Henry Clay turnovers.

6-0 Sr. Prince Stewart led Henry Clay with 31 points including five three point baskets.  6-3 Sr. TJ Barnes added 15 points and 10 rebounds.  6-1 So. Trey Stewart chipped in with 12 points.  6-4 So. Daniel Kiesling recorded 11 points and nine rebounds.

5-11 Jr. Mike Walker led Lafayette with 17 points and five assists.  6-1 So. Dee Yarbrough, 6-3 Jr. Micah Miller, and 6-0 Sr. Tyler Barber added 15, 14, and 10 points respectively.

Lexington Catholic (14-11) vs. Montgomery County (20-2) (Girls)

Mt. Sterling KY February 15th  -  Lexington Catholic scored 23 points off 22 Montgomery turnovers in a 69-62 victory.  Lexington Catholic shot 51.9% from the field in the second half.

Lexington Catholic shot 38.5% from the field including three of 12 from the three point line.  The Lady Knights connected on 16 of 28 free throws, pulled down 46 rebounds, and scored 23 points off 22 Montgomery County turnovers.  Montgomery County shot 32.8% from the field including six of 21 from beyond the arc.  The Indians connected on 16 of 22 free throws, pulled down 44 rebounds, and scored seven points off 14 Lexington Catholic turnovers.

5-9 Sr. Maggie Wilson led the victors with 20 points.  5-9 Sr. Shaneque McGhee added 13 points and 12 rebounds.  5-8 Sr. Danielle Corbett chipped in with 11 points.  5-11 Fr. Alex Botkin recorded seven points and seven rebounds.

5-10 Jr. Annie Garland led Montgomery County with 18 points and seven rebounds.  5-11 Sr. Elizabeth Prewitt, 5-11 Sr. Kayla Webb, and 5-7 Sr. Mackenzie Lee added 11, 10, and 10 points respectively.  6-0 Sr. Brooke Colliver pulled down 13 rebounds.

Scott County (21-3) vs. Lexington Catholic (18-6) (Boys)

Lexington KY February 14th  -  Scott County defeated Lexington Catholic 82-76 in a thriller tonight.  Scott County led most of the game but Lexington Catholic rallied to take a 70-64 lead in the fourth quarter.  However Scott County regained momentum and outscored the Knights 18-6 the rest of the way to claim the win.  Scott County had problems with Lexington Catholic's press as they turned the ball over 22 times but made up for it with excellent shooting (52.6%) and a 44-28 advantage in rebounds.  The Cardinals also held a 17-7 advantage in second chance points.

Scott County shot 52.6% from the field including five of 13 from the three point line.  The Cardinals connected on 17 of 21 free throws, pulled down 44 rebounds, and scored eight points off nine Lexington Catholic turnovers.  Lexington Catholic shot 44.9% from the field including three of 18 from beyond the arc.  The Knights connected on 11 of 20 free throws, pulled down 28 rebounds, and scored 31 points off 22 Scott County turnovers.

6-8 Sr. Richie Phares led Scott County with 26 points and 16 rebounds.  6-4 Jr. Chad Jackson added 21 points and eight rebounds.  6-2 Jr. Ge-Lawn Guyn chipped in with 20 points and six rebounds.  6-8 Jr. Dakotah Euton recorded eight points, eight rebounds, and five assists.

6-3 Sr. Vee Sanford led Lexington Catholic with 28 points, eight assists, and seven steals.  6-3 So. Taylor Martin added 19 points and four steals.  6-7 Jr. Tanner Peurach recorded seven points and nine rebounds.

Sacred Heart Academy (18-3) vs. Elizabethtown (21-2) (Girls)

Elizabethtown KY February 13th  -  Elizabethtown shot a blistering 59% from the field in a 72-50 victory over Sacred Heart.  Elizabethtown raced out to a 21-9 first quarter lead and was never challenged in this game.

Elizabethtown shot 59% from the field including six of 13 from the three point line.  The lady Panthers connected on 20 of 30 free throws, pulled down 34 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 18 Sacred Heart turnovers.  Sacred Heart shot 32.7% from the field including only four of 21 from beyond the arc.  The Valkyries connected on 10 of 13 free throws, pulled down 25 rebounds, and scored 11 points off 25 Elizabethtown turnovers.

6-0 Sr. Alex Jones led the victors with 25 points, eight rebounds, and four steals.  5-5 So. Natalie Greenwell added 15 points.  5-8 Sr. Dorian Downs chipped in with 13 points including three three point baskets.

Independence KY February 13th  -  Simon Kenton outscored Lexington Catholic 37-25 in the second half to pull away for a 64-51 victory.  Lexington Catholic was ice cold from the field after the intermission as they only shot 16.1% from the field in the second half.

Simon Kenton shot 48.8% from the field including 56.3% in the second half.  The lady Pioneers was three of 11 from the three point line, connected on 21 of 30 free throws, pulled down 43 rebounds, and scored 16 points off 19 Lexington Catholic turnovers.  Lexington Catholic shot 26.7% from the field including one of 11 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Knights connected on 18 of 32 free throws, pulled down 33 rebounds, and scored 22 points off 28 Simon Kenton turnovers.

5-5 Sr. Chelsea Tolliver led Simon Kenton with 30 points and 10 rebounds.  5-2 So. Sydni Wainscott added 11 points including nine of nine free throws.  6-0 Sr. Kayla Smith recorded seven points and eight rebounds.

5-9 Sr. Shaneque McGhee led Lexington Catholic with 14 points, 15 rebounds, and six steals.  5-8 Sr. Danielle Corbett added 11 points.

Bryan Station (17-5) vs. Tates Creek (10-11) (Boys)

Lexington KY February 13  -  Tates Creek earned a big victory by defeating Bryan Station by a score of 59-53.  Bryan Station was cold from the free throw line as they only connected on nine of 19 free throws.  Tates Creek took a 40-32 lead entering  the final quarter.  The Defenders cut the deficit to six; 40-34 on a steal and layup.  Bryan Station stole the ball. was fouled and Tates Creek was also assessed  a technical foul.  Bryan Station only hit two of four free throws and turned the ball over on the ensuing possession allowing Tates Creek to regain control of the game.

Tates Creek shot 45.7% from the field including four of 12 from the three point line.  The Commodores connected on 13 of 19 free throws, pulled down 43 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 12 Bryan Station turnovers.  Bryan Station shot 33.9% from the field including four of 11 from beyond the arc.  The Defenders connected on nine of 19 free throws, pulled down 28 rebounds, and scored 19 points off 20 Tates Creek turnovers.

6-3 So. Marcellus Barksdale led Tates Creek with 18 points and 10 rebounds.  6-2 So. Ryan Fucci added 11 points, eight rebounds, and six assists.  6-4 Jr. Ezra Garner chipped in with nine points and 11 rebounds.

Lexington KY February 12th  -  Henry Clay defeated Tates Creek by a score of 44-37.  Henry Clay raced out to a 17-10 first quarter lead but Tates Creek rallied to lead the Blue Devils 25-22 at halftime.  Henry Clay outscored the Commodores 22-12 in the second half to earn the victory.  Henry Clay held a 16-6 advantage in second chance points.

Henry Clay shot 38.6% from the field including four of 15 from the three point line.  The Blue Devils connected on six of 12 free throws, pulled down 27 free throws, and scored 15 points off 15 Tates Creek turnovers.  Tates Creek shot 40% from the field including zero of nine from beyond the arc.  The Commodores connected on  five of seven from the free throw line, pulled down 30 rebounds, and scored six points off 10 Henry Clay turnovers.

6-3 Sr. TJ Barnes led the victors with 13 points and 12 rebounds.  5-8 Jr. Marquel Johnson, 6-0 Sr. Prince Stewart, and 6-4 So. Daniel Kiesling each recorded six points.  6-1 So. Trey Stewart and 5-10 So. Brandon Nichols each recorded five points.

Louisville KY February 12th  -  Mercy outscored Manual 16-9 in the second quarter on their way to a 68-63 victory over Manual.

Mercy shot 50% from the field including three of seven from the three point line.  The Jaguars connected on 17 of 24 free throws, pulled down 30 rebounds, and scored 23 points off 19 Manual turnovers.  Manual shot 37.3% from the field including only two of 17 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Crimsons connected on 17 of 18 free throws, pulled down 35 rebounds, and scored 17 points off 16 Mercy turnovers.

Louisville KY February 11th -  Lexington Catholic held a 23-9 advantage in free throw points in a 54-47 victory over Assumption. 

Lexington Catholic shot 28% from the field including three of 14 from the three point line.  The Lady Knights connected on 23 of 34 free throws, pulled down 41 rebounds, and scored 18 points off 23 Assumption turnovers.  Assumption shot 32.1% from the field including two of 11 from beyond the arc.  The Rockets connected on nine of 15 free throws, pulled down 40 rebounds, and scored 17 points off 19 Lexington Catholic turnovers.

Louisville KY February 7th  -  CAL defeated a cold shooting (26.2% from the field including only 16.7% from the three point line) Lexington Catholic team by a score of 54-48.

CAL shot 45.5% from the field including two of nine from the three point line.  The Lady Centurions connected on 22 of 34 free throws, pulled down 34 rebounds, and scored 12 points off 13 Lexington Catholic turnovers.  Lexington Catholic shot 26.2% from the field including four of 24 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Knights connected on 12 of 20 free throws, pulled down 40 rebounds, and scored 17 points off 18 CAL turnovers.  Lexington Catholic attempted 28 more shots from the field (61-33) than CAL.

6-2 Jr. Antonita Slaughter led CAL with 13 points and 10 rebounds.  5-10 Sr. Clair Buchanan also recorded 13 points and pulled down seven rebounds.  5-10 Jr. Allison karst chipped in with 12 points including 10 of 12 from the free throw line.
