Week Four in Review September 11-12

Friday September 11th

Henry Clay 21  Scott County 7 - Henry Clay scored from long range twice in the second half to earn the victory.  Blake Green scored on an 85 yard run and Vinny Miller threw a 95 yard HB pass to Branden Johnson for a TD.

Bryan Station 21  Western 17 - Bryan Station RB Tevin McCaden carried the ball 31 times for 167 yards and a TD to lead the Defenders to a come-from-behind victory over Western.

Anderson County 42  Mercer County 21 - Anderson County QB Jacob Russell hooked up with Grant Cox on TD strikes of 47, 76, and 70 yards to lead the Bearcats to victory.

Lafayette 26  Franklin County 14 - Eric Shaw Jr. gained 240 yards and scored two TDs on 21 carries and scored on a 67 yard kickoff return to lead the Generals to victory.

Paul Dunbar 13  George Rogers Clark 7 - John Rose scored on a 64 yard pass from Trent Martin and a three yard run to lead the Bulldogs to victory.

Lexington Christian Academy 55  Christian Academy of Louisville 27 - LCA  QB Lucas Witt completed 11 of 25 passes for 222 yards with scoring strikes of 47, 45, 6, and 51 yards.  Witt also gained 92 yards on six rushing attempts.  Domonique Hayden carried the ball 19 times for 115 yards and scored on runs of 5, 3, and 11 yards and added TD receptions of 47 and 45 yards.

Perry County Central  37  Breathitt County 14 - Jordan Amis carried the ball 17 times for 142 yards with TD runs of 5, 39, and 1 yards to lead Perry County Central to victory.

Somerset 48  Danville 7 - Eric Manning  threw for five TDs in a big win over the Admirals.

Highlands 21  Cincinnati Withrow (OH) 0 - Austin Collinsworth carried the ball 12 times for 185 yards and scored on runs of 66 and 18 yards to lead the Bluebirds to victory.

Male 47  Central 35 - RB John Giddens led Male with two rushing TDs and two TD receptions to run his early season TD total to 16.

Ashland 28  Russell 7 - Josh Alber rolled up 207 yards and three TDs on the ground to lead Ashland to victory.

Prestonsburg  49  Bath County 3 - Josh Craynon had four receptions for 152 yards and three touchdowns to lead Prestonsburg to victory.

Woodford County 28  North Bullitt 19 - Soph. QB Matt Couch threw TD passes of 6 and 9 yards to Dan Serdyuk to lead the Yellowjackets to victory.

Simon Kenton 56  Shroder Paidia (OH) 21 - Miles Simpson rushed for over 100 yards and scored on runs of 41, 3, and 2 yards to lead the Pioneers to victory.

Lone Oak 52  Lexington Catholic 49 (OT) - Jack Coorts kicked a 25 yrad field goal in overtime to defeat the visiting Knights.  LexCath rallied from a 42-20 deficit early in the fourth quarter to force overtime.

Lexington Catholic (2-1) at Lone Oak (3-0) September 11th
Topic: Football

Lone Oak rolled up 649 yards of total offense and survived a tremendous comeback by Lexington Catholic to earn a 52-49 victory in overtime.  Lone Oak rolled up an impressive 408 yards of rushing with two players going over the century mark.  Lone Oak led 42-20 early in the fourth quarter but LexCath roared back to tie the game at 49-49 with 11 seconds remaining in regulation.  LexCath missed a field goal attempt but Jack Coorts nailed a 25 yard field goal to give the home team a big victory.

Lone Oak recorded 27 first downs and 649 yards of total offense.  They were penalized eight times for 58 yards and lost a fumble.  Lexington Catholic recorded 20 first downs and 496 yards of total offense.  The Knights were penalized 12 times for 115 yards.

Cameron Looper led the Lone Oak ground game with 142 yards and a TD on 16 carries.  The team was credited with two carries for 117 yards.  Matt Starks carried the ball 14 times for 109 yards and four touchdowns.  Looper completed 19 of 25 passes for 243 yards and two touchdowns.  Matt Starks caught eight passes for 81 yards and a TD.  Joe Starks added six receptions for 69 yards and Jared Hill chipped in with five catches for 93 yards and a TD.

Greg Raglin led Lexington Catholic's ground game with 146 yards and a TD on 25 carries.  Nic Ward completed 21 of 37 passes for 337 yards and five touchdowns.  Ryne Least caught nine passes for 221 yards and three TDs.  Billy Jack Brown caught four passes for 22 yards.  Nate Letton led the defense with five solo and four assisted tackles.  Michael Cornett added four solo and six assisted tackles.

Western (0-2) at Bryan Station (3-0) September 11th

Bryan Station improved their record to 4-0 with a hard earned 21-17 over Western tonight.  Bryan Station recorded 13 first downs and 266 yards of total offense.  The Defenders were penalized seven times for 68 yards, lost a fumble and had one pass intercepted.  Western recorded 17 first downs and 329 yards of total offense.  Western was penalized seven times for 47 yards and had one pass intercepted.

Tevin McCaden led the Bryan Station ground game with 167 yards and a TD on 31 carries.  Brady Boling completed seven of 10 passes for 85 yards and a TD with one interception.  Austin Hendron and Tevin McCaden each caught two passes for 40 and 21 yards respectively.  Kris Bolton led the defense with six solo and two assisted tackles.  Tim Hayden added six solo tackles.

Orlando Wilson led Western's ground game with 78 yards and a TD on 16 carries.  Stephon Tanga also carried the ball 16 times and gained 75 yards.  Wilson completed seven of 20 passes for 149 yards with one interception.  Cortez Ricketts caught five passes for 120 yards and a TD.  Joe Malone led the defense with five solo and one assisted tackles.  Ladmoin.  Trabue added four solo and two assisted tackles and Jalen Boyd chipped in with four solo and one assisted tackles.

Scott County (2-0) at Henry Clay (2-0) September 11th

Henry Clay scored on two long distance plays in the third quarter on their way to a 21-7 victory over Scott County.  Blake Green scored on an 85 yard run to give the Blue Devils a 14-0 lead.  Scott County cut the margin to seven; 14-7 on a 17 yard pass from Tevin Buffin to James Happy.  Henry Clay dialed long distance again with a 95 yard halfback pass from Vinny Miller to Branden Johnson.  Henry Clay played the second half without the services of starting QB Jerry Williams who left the game with an injury in the first half.  Henry Clay's defense did an excellent job holding the potent Scott County ground game to 125 yards on 49 carries.

Henry Clay recorded nine first downs and 394 yards of total offense.  The Blue Devils were penalized 11 times for 93 yards and lost a fumble.  Scott County recorded 19 first downs and 259 yards of total offense.  The Cardinals were penalized three times for 15 yards and lost a fumble.

Blake Green led Henry Clay's ground attack with 107 yards and a TD on two carries.  Bo Brooks added 65 yards on seven carries.  Jerry Williams recorded 52 yards and a TD on three carries.  Williams completed two of eight passes for 29 yards.  Vinny Miller completed his only pass attempt for a 95 yard TD.  Branden Jihnson caught two passes for 115 yards and a TD.  Weston Johnson led the defense with five solo and 12 assisted tackles.  Johnson also recovered a fumble.  Aaron Akidil added seven solo and five assisted tackles.  Ryan Smith chipped in with five solo and five assisted tackles.  Cy Curnutte recorded one solo and 11 assisted tackles.

Josh Walls led Scott County's ground game with 70 yards on 18 carries.  Brooks Barber carried the ball 20 times for 63 yards.  Tevin Buffin completed 11 of 25 passes for 134 yards and a touchdown.  James Happy caught seven passes for 83 yards and a TD.  Chris Ramsey led the defense with two solo and three assisted tackles.  Michael Weeks added three solo tackles, one assisted tackle, and recovered a fumble.

Mercer County (0-3) at Anderson County (2-0) September 11th

Anderson County QB Jacob Russell connected on three long range scoring strikes of 46, 70, and 76 yards to Grant Cox to lead the Bearcats to a 42-21 victory over Mercer County.  Anderson County led 14-7 at halftime and pulled away in the second half for the victory.

Anderson County recorded 15 first downs and 449 yards of total offense.  The Bearcats were penalized eight times for 70 yards and lost a fumble.  Mercer County recorded 13 first downs and 226 yards of total offense.  The Titans were penalized 10 times for 98 yards, lost a fumble and had one pass intercepted.

Jacob Russell led the Anderson County ground game with 77 yards including a 75 yard TD run on four carries.  Dustin Combs added 61 yards and a TD on 16 carries.  Russell completed nine of 14 passes for 292 yards and three touchdowns.  Grant Cox caught five passes for 228 yards and three TDs.  Hunter Lilly led the defense with three solo and 10 assisted tackles.  Dustin Combs added four solo and five assisted tackles.  Zack Edwards recorded nine assisted tackles.

Dexter Banks led the Mercer County ground game with 35 yards on 12 carries.  Tre Dunn completed six of 16 passes for 120 yards and two touchdowns with one interception.  Jamel Taylor caught two passes for 65 yards and a TD.  Tre Dunn led the defense with three solo and five assisted tackles.  Tre Harris added two solo and three assisted tackles.

St. Xavier dominated action in a 49-6 victory over Lexington Catholic.  St. Xavier recorded 18 first downs and 456 yards of total offense.  The Tigers were penalized four times for 35 yards.  Lexington Catholic recorded 12 first downs and 204 yards of total offense.  The Knights were penalized seven times for 45 yards, lost a fumble, and had one pass intercepted.

Jeont'A  Hayden led St. Xavier's ground game with 107 yards on six carries including a 90 yard TD run.  Jeremiah Neal carried the ball nine times for 62 yards including two TDs.  Brian Buehner completed five of nine passes for 129 yards and two touchdowns.  Jeremiah Neal caught two passes for 36 yards and a TD.  La'Mont McMurry caught a 78 yard TD pass.  Will Lawson led the defense with five solo and one assisted tackle.  DeVontae Beach added four solo and one assisted tackle with two of his tackles resulting in losses totalling 35 yards.  Wyatt Gray kicked off eight times with all eight resulting in touchbacks.

Greg Raglin led the Lexington Catholic ground game with 48 yards on 18 carries.  Nic Ward completed 14 of 26 passes for 172 yards and a TD with one interception.  Bryce Andrews caught four passes for 87 yards.  Benton Hupman led the defense with seven solo tackles.  Zach Mitchell added four solo and two assisted tackles.

Henry Clay rolled up 511 yards of total offense in a 42-7 victory over Southwestern.  The Blue Devils added 10.2 yards per carry on 31 rushing attempts.

Henry Clay recorded 18 first downs and 511 yards of total offense.  The Blue Devils were penalized 12 times for 82 yards and lost four fumbles.  Southwestern recorded nine first downs and 228 yards of total offense.  The Warriors were penalized four times for 27 yards, lost two fumbles, and had two passes intercepted.

Jerry Williams led the Henry clay ground game with 141 yards and a TD on eight carries.  Bo Brooks carried the ball 11 times for 108 yards.  Williams completed 17 of 27 passes for 169 yards and three touchdowns.  Blake Green caught five passes for 56 yards and a TD.  Branden Johnson added five receptions for 23 yards and a TD.  Vinny Miller caught three passes for 61 yards and two touchdowns.  Ryan McCray led the defense with three solo and five assisted tackles.  Weston Johnson recorded two solo tackles, six assisted tackles, and one interception.

John Floyd led Southwestern's ground game with 77 yards on 14 carries.  Zack Turpin completed five of 17 passes for 94 yards with two interceptions.  Alan Williams caught four passes for 91 yards.  Logan Starnes led the defense with three solo and three assisted tackles.  Cody Mote added three solo and two assisted tackles.

Scott County averaged 7.6 yards per carry on 50 rushing attempts and converted on seven of 12 third down plays in a 30-14 victory over Boone County.  Scott County recorded 18 first downs and 402 yards of total offense.  The Cardinals were penalized three times for 20 yards, lost a fumble and had one pass intercepted.  Boone County recorded 13 first downs and 287 yrda of total offense.  The Rebels were penalized two times for 17 yards and had two passes intercepted.

Josh Walls led Scott County's ground game with a98 yards and an 82 yard TD run on 16 carries.  Brooks Barber carried the ball 20 times for 161 yards and two TDs.  Tevin Buffin completed two of five passes for 52 yards and a TD with one interception.  James Happy caught one pass for 32 yards.  Danny Arnold added a reception for 20 yards for a TD.  Cody Hudson led the defense with seven solo and four assisted tackles.  Blake Sears added four solo and seven assisted tackles.

Charles Quainoo led the Boone County ground attack with 181 yards on 26 carries.  Nate Alford carried the ball four times for 56 yards and a TD.  Alford completed five of 13 passes for 76 yards and a TD with two interceptions.  Jordan Oppenheimer caught two passes for 35 yards and a TD.  Jake Deason led the defense with seven solo and four assisted tackles with 2.5 of the tackles resulting in losses totalling four yards.  Adam Sunderhaus added two solo and six assisted tackles.
