Newport Central Catholic coach Dan Albrinck started the following lineup: 5-5 Sr. Emma Beck, 5-0 Sr. Delaney Green, 5-9 Jr. Jaylee Brannen, 5-4 Jr. Caroline Eaglin, and 5-4 Jr. Madison Wherry-McFarland. Great Crossing coach Matt Walls countered with 5-11 Sr. Ava Schureman, 5-7 Sr. Olivia Tierney, 6-1 Jr. Kennedy Harrison, 5-3 8th Grade Kendall Kearney, and 5-6 Jr. Jaelle Henderson.
Great Crossing withstood a late rally to defeat Newport Central Catholic by the score of 47-42. Great Crossing shot 36.7% from the field including four of 16 from the three point line. The Lady Warhawks connected on seven of 12 free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored 19 points off 22 Newport Central Catholic turnovers. Newport Central Catholic shot 31.9% from the field including six of 24 from beyond the arc. They connected on six of nine free throws, pulled down 35 rebounds, and scored 11 points off 14 Great Crossing turnovers.
Olivia Tierney led Great Crossing with 20 points including two three point baskets, three rebounds, and two assists. Ava Schureman added 11 points, four rebounds, and four steals. 5-5 Fr. Nia Carr added six points, four rebounds, and three steals. Kennedy Harrison recorded five points, 11 rebounds, five blocked shots, and two steals. Jaelle Henderson chipped in with five points and four rebounds.
Caroline Eaglin led Newport Central Catholic with 22 points including four three point baskets, five rebounds, and two assists. 5-5 Fr. Brooklyn Cole added 10 points including two three point baskets, two rebounds, and two assists. Emma Beck recorded four points, six rebounds, and two blocked shots. 5-10 Fr. Alaina Albrinck added two points and 10 rebounds.
