George Rogers Clark vs. Sacred Heart Academy (Girls)

George Rogers Clark coach Robby Graham started the following lineup: 5-8 So. Teigh Yeast, 5-7 Jr. Jaileen Green, 5-10 Jr. Khania Jones, 5-5 Fr. Kennedy Stamper, and 5-7 So. Anaya Chestnut. Sacred Heart Academy coach Donna Moir countered with 6-0 Jr. ZaKiyah Johnson, 5-8 Sr. Claire Russell, 6-3 Sr. Angelina Pelayo, 5-3 Fr. Amirah “Tootie” Jordan, and 5-10 Sr. Reagan Bender.

The score was tied 38-38 after three quarters but Sacred Heart outscored George Rogers Clark 23-11 in the final quarter to earn a 61-49 victory. There were six lead changes and five ties in this game. Sacred Heart Academy shot 50% from the field including four of eight from the three point line. The Valkyries connected on 11 of 16 free throws, pulled down 37 rebounds, and scored 18 points off 20 George Rogers Clark turnovers. George Rogers Clark shot 32% from the field including seven of 26 from beyond the arc. The Lady Cardinals connected on 10 of 12 free throws, pulled down 23 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 21 Sacred Heart turnovers.

ZaKiyah Johnson led Sacred Heart Academy with 19 points including two three point baskets, six rebounds, and two assists. Reagan Bender added 16 points, two assists, and four steals. Angelina Pelayo recorded 11 points, 11 rebounds, four assists, and two blocked shots. Amirah “Tootie” Jordan chipped in with 10 points, seven rebounds, seven assists, and four steals.

Jaileen Green led George Rogers Clark with 15 points including two three point baskets, and three steals. Teigh Yeast added nine points, five rebounds, and two assists. Anaya Chestnut recorded eight points including two three point baskets and four rebounds. Kennedy Stamper chipped in with seven points, three rebounds, and three assists. Khania Jones recorded two points, six rebounds, and two steals.
