Rowan County coach Shawn Thacker started the following lineup: 6-5 Sr. Mason Moore, 6-5 Jr. Chase Alderman, 6-7 Jr. Robby Todd, 5-10 Sr. Dilan Maxey, and 6-3 Sr. Nathan Goodpaster.  Ashland Blazer coach Jason Mays countered with 6-2 Fr. Zander Carter, 5-11 Jr. Ethan Sellars, 6-8 Sr. Sean Marcum, 5-11 So. Colin Porter, and 6-2 Jr. Cole Villers.

 

Ashland Blazer defeated Rowan County 62-58 in overtime to punch their ticket to the Sweet 16.  Ashland’s Colin Porter fouled out with 6:24 left in regulation and Mason Moore nailed a three point basket from the corner to send the game to overtime.  Rowan County led 43-34 after three quarters but Ashland battled back to take a 55-52 lead before Moore’s last second heroics in regulation to force overtime.  Ashland shot 44% from the field including 11 of 26 from the three point line.  The Tomcats connected on 11 of 16 free throws, pulled down 28 rebounds, and scored 12 points off eight Rowan County turnovers.  Rowan County shot 48% from the field including six of 12 from beyond the arc.  The Vikings connected on six of 14 free throws, pulled own 23 rebounds, and scored five points off 11 Ashland turnovers.

 

Ethan Sellars led Ashland Blazer with 22 points including five three point baskets, five of six free throws and four rebounds.  Cole Villers added 16 points including four three point baskets, seven rebounds, and two assists.  Colin Porter recorded 15 points including two three point baskets, three of three free throws, and three rebounds.  Sean Marcum pulled down six rebounds.

 

Mason Moore led Rowan County with 16 points including three three point baskets, four rebounds, and six assists.  Nathan Goodpaster added 16 points.  Chase Alderman recorded 12 points, eight rebounds, and two assists.  6-4 Sr. Jordan Justice chipped in with eight points including two three point baskets.
