Knox Central coach Jamie Sowders started the following lineup: 5-8 Jr. Presley Partin, 5-8 So. Zoey Liford, 5-10 8th Grade Natalie Fisher, 5-7 So. Caylan Mills, and 5-5 8th Grade Timberly Fredrick. (Seven players saw action for Knox Central tonight: four 8th Graders, two Sophs, and a Junior). Madison Central coach Brad Lovely countered with 5-10 Jr. Raelynn Miller, 5-8 Sr. Taleya Todd, 5-11 Sr. Jekauri McKeithen, 5-4 Fr. Eve Carter, and 5-5 Jr. Brianna Bierbaum.
Madison Central escaped with a 51-50 victory over Knox Central tonight. There were four ties and two lead changes in the game. The Lady Panthers had one last chance for the victory but Madison Central’s 5-10 Jr. Gretchen Hammitt came up with a loose ball in the lane to ensure the victory. Knox Central’s Presley Partin was hampered with fouls in the first half and was limited to five minutes in the first half and only tallied two points. However she returned in the second half to end up with 19 points. Madison Central shot 41.1% from the field including three of 15 from the three point line. The Indians connected on two of nine free throws, pulled down 40 rebounds, and scored 10 points off 12 Knox Central turnovers. Knox Central shot 33.3% from the field including seven of 19 from beyond the arc. The Lady Panthers connected on 11 of 19 free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and scored 12 points off 16 Madison Central turnovers.
Jekauri McKeithen led Madison Central with 16 points, 13 rebounds, two assists, and four blocked shots. Brianna Bierbaum added 12 points including two three point baskets. Eve Carter recorded 11 points, eight rebounds, four assists, and three steals. Taleya Todd chipped in with eight points.
Presley Partin led Knox Central with 19 points including three three point baskets and four steals. Zoey Liford added 14 points including two three point baskets. Caylan Mills recorded eight points, three rebounds, 12 assists, and four steals.
