Chattanooga coach Lamont Paris started the following lineup: 6-7 Jr. Rod Johnson, 6-7 GS Matt Ryan, 6-8 Jr. Ramon Vila, 6-0 So. Maurice Commander, and 6-1 Jr. David Jean-Baptiste. Eastern Kentucky University coach AW Hamilton countered with 6-8 So. Tre King, 6-4 So. Houston King, 6-8 Jr. Darius Hicks, 6-2 So. Jomaru Brown, and 6-3 Sr. Ty Taylor.
Eastern Kentucky trailed 38-33 at halftime but shot 60% from the field in the second half to earn a 79-68 victory over Chattanooga. There were five ties and six lead changes in the game. Eastern Kentucky shot 51.9% from the field including six of 14 from the three point line. The Colonels connected on 19 of 25 free throws, pulled down 40 rebounds, and scored 21 points off 20 Chattanooga turnovers. Chattanooga shot 32.4% from the field including nine of 25 from beyond the arc. The Mocs connected on 15 of 17 free throws, pulled down 34 rebounds, and scored 20 points off 24 Eastern Kentucky turnovers.
Houston King led Eastern Kentucky with 19 points including four three point baskets. Darius Hicks added 18 points, 12 rebounds, and three blocked shots. Jomaru Brown recorded 14 points. Tre King chipped in with nine points. 6-9 Sr. Lachlan Anderson added seven points and nine rebounds. 6-0 Jr. Russhard Cruickshank recorded six points and four assists.
David Jean-Baptiste led Chattanooga with 18 points including two three point baskets, six of six free throws, and five rebounds. Matt Ryan added 15 points including three three point baskets and eight rebounds. Rod Johnson recorded 12 points including two three point baskets and five rebounds. Maurice Commander chipped in with seven points and five assists.
