Madison Central vs. Nicholas County (Girls)

Madison Central coach Robert Cooksey started the following lineup: 5-10 Jr. Jekauri McKeithen, 5-7 Jr. Taleya Todd, 5-9 Sr. Logan Hudson, 5-6 Sr. Kelsey Powell, and 5-6 Sr. Madison Barnard.  Nicholas County coach Greg Letcher countered with 5-8 Sr. Maranda Jett, 5-8 Jr.  Morgan Watkins, 5-9 Jr. Megan Cobb, 5-5 Sr. Allison Myers, and 5-5 Sr. Shelby Stafford.

 

Nicholas County defeated Madison Central by a score of 49-41.  The score was tied three times and there were five lead changes in this game.  Nicholas County shot 38% from the field including four of 14 from the three point line.  The Lady Jackets connected on seven of 10 free throws, pulled down 34 rebounds, and scored 16 points off 21 Madison Central turnovers.  Madison Central shot 31.4% from the field including two of 11 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Indians connected on 17 of 29 free throws, pulled down 30 rebounds, and scored nine points off 21 Nicholas County turnovers.

 

Shelby Stafford led Nicholas County with 12 points, six assists, and five steals.  Allison Myers added eight points, eight rebounds, three assists, and three steals.  Morgan Watkins recorded seven points and six rebounds.  5-4 Fr. Jada Cleaver added six points on two three point baskets.

 

Madison Barnard led Madison Central with 16 points including nine of 14 free throws, three rebounds, two assists, and two steals.  Jekauri McKeithen added seven points, 15 rebounds, and five steals.  Taleya Todd recorded seven points, four rebounds, two blocked shots, and three steals.  Kelsey Powell chipped in with two points, three rebounds, four assists, and four steals.
