This game featured Conner who has been voted No. 1 in the coaches poll and entering the game at 24-1 but their only loss this season was a 60-49 defeat at the hand of Ryle.  Therefore tonight’s game was for state bragging rights as well as bragging right in the very competitive 9^th Region.  Ryle trailed 33-20 early in the third quarter but rallied to pull within one point; 55-54 with less than a minute left on the clock.  Conner hit their free throws down the stretch to earn a 62-57 victory.

Conner shot 45.4 % from the field, connected on four three point baskets, and 18 free throws.  Ryle shot 33.3% from the field, connected on four three point baskets, and 11 free throws.

5-6 Sr. Savannah Jordan led Conner with 18 points including two three point baskets.  5-6 Sr. Joy Strange and 5-3 Sr. Courtney Hurst added 13 points each.  5-10 Jr. Maddie Drummonds chipped in with nine points.

5-11 Sr. Lauren Schwartz led Ryle with 20 points.  5-11 Jr. Maddie Scherr added 17 points.  5-9 So. Brie Crittendon chipped in with seven points.

Lincoln County vs. Danville (Girls)

Danville defeated Lincoln County 88-85 in overtime to knot the 45^th District race at 5-1 and force the top spot to be decided by a coin flip.  Several things were accomplished tonight as the Lady Admirals avenged an earlier loss of 79-64 to Lincoln County.  Danville’s Ivy Turner torched the nets for 44 points tonight which makes her the all time leading scoring leader on the female side at Danville High with 2313 points and counting.  This loss also was Lincoln County’s third in a row. 

Danville shot 37.6% from the field including 12 of 31 from the three point line.  The Lady Admirals connected on 18 of 24 free throws and pulled down 42 rebounds.  Lincoln County shot 42.9% from the field including eight of 18 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Patriots connected on 11 of 15 free throws and pulled down 39 rebounds.

5-8 Sr. Ivy Turner led Danville with 44 points.  5-8 So. Jenna Akers came up with a “monster” game with 26 points including eight three point baskets.  5-8 So. Lara Akers also reached double figures with 10 points.

5-11 Sr. Emma King led Lincoln County with 25 points.  6-0 Sr. Kaitlyn Wilks added 18 points.  5-6 Sr. Maddie Boyle, 5-10 Sr. Zaria Napier, and 5-10 Jr. Trinity Shearer also reached double figures with 14, 13, and 11 points respectively.

This game was a classic and with the talented teams and players in the 12^th Region there have been several showcase games with several probably in the future as tournament play looms. Maddie Kaufman, and 5-7 Sr. Kiya Thompson.  Lexington Catholic coach Scott True Sr. countered with 5-9 Fr. Chloe Treece, 5-7 Sr. Jay Ballard, 5-8 Sr. Maylo Given, 5-4 Sr. Morgan Rakes, and 5-6 So. Farah Weldon.

Lexington Catholic trailed 33-22 in the third quarter but Jay Ballard hit a layup at the buzzer to give Lexington Catholic a 56-54 victory over the Lady Blue Devils.  The score was tied four times and there were three lead changes in the game.  Lexington Catholic shot 42.6% from the field including five of 17 from the three point line.  The Lady Knights connected on 11 of 12 free throws, pulled down 26 rebounds, and scored nine points off nine Henry Clay turnovers.  Henry Clay shot 43.8% from the field including three of seven from beyond the arc.  The Lady Blue Devils connected on nine of 16 free throws, pulled down 33 rebounds, and scored 13 points off nine Lexington Catholic turnovers.

5-7 So. Ariel West led Lexington Catholic with 13 points including six of six free throws and three assists.  Maylo Given added 12 points including two three point baskets, seven rebounds, and two steals.  Chloe Treece chipped in with nine points.  Farah Weldon recorded eight points and five rebounds.  5-5 Fr. Hannah Carlisle added seven points.

Amiya Jenkins led Henry Clay with 21 points, eight rebounds, five assists, and two steals.  Kiya Thompson added 13 points including two three point baskets.  Kennedy Williams recorded eight points, five rebounds, and two steals.

Lexington Catholic outscored Lexington Christian Academy 21-10 in the third quarter on their way to a 54-49 victory over the Eagles.  There were two lead changes and three ties left in the game.  Lexington Catholic shot 43.1% from the field including five of 18 from the three point line.  The Knights connected on five of eight free throws, pulled down 23 rebounds, and scored 13 points off 16 LCA turnovers.  LCA shot 41% from the field including eight of 22 from beyond the arc.  The Eagles connected on nine of 14 free throws, pulled down 33 rebounds, and scored seven points off six Lexington Catholic turnovers.

Ben Johnson led Lexington Catholic with 23 points including two three point baskets and six rebounds.  Brice Scott added 10 points, seven rebounds, and two steals.  Patrick Geoghegan recorded eight points including two three point baskets and seven rebounds.

Kyle Rode led LCA with 25 points including three three point baskets, 14 rebounds, and two blocked shots.  Will Hacker and Pearce Dalton each recorded eight points including two three point baskets, four rebounds, and two assists.

Trinity trailed Lafayette 37-34 after three quarters but Trinity rallied to defeat the Generals 53-47.  The score was tied four times and there were 10 lead changes in the game.  Trinity shot 40% from the field including six of 14 from the three point line.  The Shamrocks connected on seven of 11 free throws, pulled down 21 rebounds, and scored 22 points off 19 Lafayette turnovers.  Lafayette shot 54.3% from the field including five of 12 from beyond the arc.  The Generals connected on four of five free throws, pulled down 27 rebounds, and scored six points off four Trinity turnovers.

Scott County dominated in the paint outscoring South Laurel 60-14 on their way to a 91-56 victory.  Scott County shot 51.9% from the field including six of 28 from the three point line.  The Cardinals connected on five of six free throws, pulled down 50 rebounds, and scored 13 points off eight South Laurel turnovers.  South Laurel shot 24.1% from the field including six of 28 from beyond the arc.  The Cardinals connected on 24 of 29 free throws, pulled down 26 rebounds, and scored seven points off seven Scott County turnovers.
