Madison Central vs. Estill County (Girls)

Estill County High School

January 31, 2019

 

Madison Central coach Robert Cooksey started the following lineup: 5-10 Jr. Jekauri McKeithen, 5-7 Jr. Taleya Todd, 5-9 Sr. Logan Hudson, 5-6 Sr. Kelsey Powell, and 5-6 Sr. Madison Barnard.  Estill County coach Ruth Hughes countered with 5-7 Fr. Mia Hale, 5-7 Fr. Hannah Baker, 5-7 Sr. Amelia Farmer, 5-4 Sr. Kiely Flynn, and 5-4 Sr. Meagan Bellamy.

 

Madison Central led 45-19 after three quarters but had to survive a 29-9 deficit in the final quarter to earn a 54-48 victory over Estill County.  Madison Central shot 40.8% from the field including two of 11 from the three point line.  The Lady Indians connected on 12 of 30 free throws, pulled down 44 rebounds, and scored 12 points off 16 Estill County turnovers.  Estill County shot 22.7% from the field including six of 26 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Engineers connected on 12 of 14 free throws, pulled down 45 rebounds, and scored 20 points off 18 Madison Central turnovers.

 

Jekauri McKeithen led Madison Central with 22 points, 18 rebounds, and three assists.  McKeithen was 10 of 16 from the field and two of four from the free throw line.  Taleya Todd added 17 points and four steals.  Logan Hudson recorded six points and 13 rebounds.  Madison Barnard pulled down five rebounds and dished out six assists. 

 

Meagan Bellamy led Estill County with 16 points including three three point baskets, four rebounds, three assists, and two steals.  Mia Hale added 13 points including two three point baskets, six rebounds, and two assists.  5-6 8th Grade Haley Angel recorded six points and six rebounds.  Amelia Farmer chipped in with five points and seven rebounds.
