Scott County coach Steve Helton countered with 6-0 So. Kenady Tompkins, 5-10 Sr. Maaliya Owens, 6-2 Jr. Malea Williams, 5-5 Sr. Juliette Smith, and 5-5 Jr. Morgan DeFoor.
Scott County trailed Beech (TN) 36-27 but shot a sizzling 63.6% from the field in the second half to earn a 73-64 come-from-behind victory over the Buccaneers. The score was tied six times and there were six lead changes in the game. Scott County shot 53.2% from the field including seven of 21 from the three point line. The Lady Cardinals connected on 16 of 22 free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and scored 10 points off 14 Beech turnovers. Beech shot 33.3% from the field including 13 of 35 from beyond the arc. The Buccaneers connected on nine of 18 free throws, pulled down 35 rebounds, and scored 17 points off 16 Scott County turnovers.
Maaliya Owens led Scott County with 24 points including two three point baskets, eight rebounds, and three assists. Juliette Smith added 16 points, four rebounds, and five assists. Morgan DeFoor recorded 13 points, five rebounds, five assists, and two blocked shots. 5-1 So. Braylee McMath chipped in with 10 points including two three point baskets.
Deshiya Hoosier led Beech (TN) with 25 points including six three point baskets and four rebounds. Jana Claire Swafford added 13 points including three three point baskets and six rebounds. Mia Dean recorded 11 points including three three point baskets.
