Northwestern coach Kathie Layden started the following lineup: 6-1 So. Madison Layden, 6-0 Jr. Stephanie Burns, 6-1 So. Kendall Bostic, 5-8 Sr. Sarah Vas, and 5-9 So. Klair Merrell. Mercy Academy coach Keith Baisch countered with 5-9 Jr. Regan Berger, 5-9 Jr. Raquael Reese, 6-1 So. Ta’Ziah Jenks, 5-5 So. Hope Sivori, and 5-3 Jr. Sydney Rivette.
Mercy Academy eked out a 65-63 victory over Northwestern. Mercy shot 47.1% from the field including 11 of 17 from the three point line. The Jaguars connected on only six of 20 free throws, pulled down 24 rebounds, and committed 12 turnovers. Northwestern shot 60.8% from the field including five of 10 from beyond the arc. The Tigers connected on two of six free throws, pulled down 22 rebounds, and committed 19 turnovers.
Sydney Rivette led Mercy with 21 points including six three point baskets. Hope Sivori added 14 points including two three point baskets, four rebounds, and five steals. Ta’Ziah Jenks recorded 13 points and 10 rebounds.
Madison Layden led Northwestern with 18 points including four three point baskets and five rebounds. Kendall Bostic added 17 points and six rebounds.
