Southwestern vs. McCreary Central (Girls)

McCreary Central High School

Stearns, KY

January 10, 2014

Southwestern defeated McCreary Central by a score of 40-31.  McCreary Central has been hampered the past few games by the loss of high scoring point guard 5-3 Jr. Cierra Terry.  This has left 5-10 So. Kaylee Cotton to shoulder even more of the responsibility as the chief offensive threat.  Southwestern is one of the premier teams in the region and took control of the game tonight with a 15-4 scoring advantage in the second quarter to take a 22-14 halftime lead.  Southwestern shot 30.8% from the field including two of 16 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Warriors connected on six of 12 free throws, pulled down 33 rebounds, and committed four turnovers.  McCreary Central shot 35.7% from the field including one of six from beyond the arc.  The Lady Raiders connected on 10 of 14 free throws, pulled down 27 rebounds, and committed 13 turnovers.

6-0 Jr. Dylana Fothergill led Southwestern with 12 points.  6-1 So. Elisabeth Latham added eight points and 14 rebounds.

5-10 So. Kaylee Cotton led McCreary central with 19 points including eight of eight free throws and eight rebounds.  5-6 Jr. Haley Jones added six points.  5-11 Jr. Paige Neal pulled down 10 rebounds.
