Notre Dame Academy vs. Ballard

 

Notre Dame Academy coach Wayne Foust started the following lineup: 5-11 Sr. Carlee Clemons, 5-9 Jr. Hillary Hellmann, 5-10 Jr. Haylee Smith, 5-8 Sr. Paige Kellam, and 5-11 Sr. Elly Ogle.  Ballard coach Frank Wright countered with 5-7 Sr. Aundrea Matchen, 5-6 Jr. Alex Martin, 5-10 Sr. Jovanna Layfield, 5-3 8^th grader Briana Mishler, and 5-4 Sr. Brandi Ray.

Haylee Smith hit a layup with 1:20 left in the game to give Notre Dame what proved to be the winning points in a 44-42 victory over Ballard.  The score was tied five times and there were six lead changes in the game.  Notre Dame raced out to an 11-4 lead but Ballard rallied and led 22-16 at halftime and still maintained a 31-29 lead after three quarters.  Ballard led 42-41 with 3:31 left in the game but Notre Dame rallied for a hard earned victory.

Notre Dame shot 37.2% from the field including three of 11 from the three point line.  The Pandas connected on nine of 19 free throws, pulled down 36 rebounds, and scored nine points off 10 Ballard turnovers.  Ballard shot 35.8% from the field including two of 11 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Bruins connected on two of eight free throws, pulled down 35 rebounds, and scored seven points off 15 Notre Dame turnovers.

Elly Ogle led Notre Dame with 13 points and 15 rebounds.  Hillary Hellmann added eight points and Haylee Smith recorded seven points, 11 rebounds, and five blocked shots.

5-8 Fr. Andrea Patterson led Ballard with 12 points on six of seven from the field and zero of one from the free throw line.  Aundrea Matchen added 11 points and 10 rebounds.  Jovanna Layfield recorded eight points, 12 rebounds, and three steals.

Twinsburg led 31-29 after three quarters but outscored Mercy 23-11 in the final quarter to pull away for a 54-40 victory.  Twinsburg shot 40% from the field including three of 17 from the three point line.  The Lady Tigers connected on seven of 12 free throws, pulled down 37 rebounds, and scored 19 points off 24 Mercy turnovers.  Mercy shot 29.8% from the field including zero of nine from beyond the arc.  The Jaguars connected on 12 of 18 free throws, pulled down 37 rebounds, and scored 10 points off 17 Twinsburg turnovers.

Baleigh Reed led Twinsburg with 27 points, nine rebounds, two blocked shots, and seven steals.  Marisa Howard added 11 points and six rebounds.  Aloneet Durden chipped in with 10 points.  Jaime Sanborn pulled down 11 rebounds.

Elizabeth Anderson led Mercy with 14 points and six rebounds.  Hannah Bewley added 11 points and six rebounds.  Sarah Parr pulled down seven rebounds.

St. Joseph connected on 15 three point baskets in a 71-56 victory over Anderson County.  St. Joseph shot 50% from the field including 15 of 30 from the three point line.  The Lady Irish connected on eight of 10 free throws, pulled down 29 rebounds, and scored 16 points off 11 Anderson County turnovers.  Anderson County shot 38.9% from the field including six of 25 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Bearcats connected on eight of 15 free throws, pulled down 33 rebounds, and scored 14 points off 10 St. Joseph turnovers.

Mychal Johnson led St. Joseph with 30 points including four three point baskets, eight rebounds, four assists, and four steals.  Griffin Dempsey added 23 points including seven three point baskets, five rebounds, five assists, and four steals.  Rachel Lee chipped in with 10 points and seven rebounds.

Eriel McKee led Anderson County with 25 points and 11 rebounds.  Makenzie Cann led 20 points including three three point baskets and 10 rebounds.  5-8 So. Kaci Currens recorded eight points including two three point baskets and five rebounds.

Christian Academy of Louisville defeated North Bullitt by a score of 61-51.  CAL shot 41.2% from the field including three of 12 from the three point line.  The Lady Centurions connected on 16 of 33 free throws, pulled down 36 rebounds, and scored 18 points off 23 North Bullitt turnovers.  North Bullitt shot 40% from the field including two of eight from beyond the arc.  The Lady Eagles connected on nine of 18 free throws, pulled down 42 rebounds, and scored 11 points off 14 CAL turnovers.

Brittany Mumford led CAL with 20 points, nine rebounds, and five assists.  Emma Wesley also scored 20 points and pulled down five steals.  McKenzie Campbell recorded 11 points and five rebounds.

Katie Downey led North Bullitt with 21 points, five rebounds, and three steals.  Downey was eight of 10 from the field including one of one from beyond the arc, and four of four free throws.  5-11 Jr. Megan Goeing added eight points and four rebounds and Rachel Badgett pulled down eight rebounds.

Notre Dame Academy defeated Twinsburg 46-41 in overtime.  Notre Dame nearly gave the game away at the free throw line as they were only eight of 24 from the charity stripe during regulation.  The score was tied seven times and there were three lead changes in the game.  Notre Dame led 31-26 after three quarters but Twinsburg buoyed by connecting on nine of 11 free throws in the final quarter overcame a 37-32 deficit to tie the game at 37-37 to force overtime.  Notre Dame connected on only two of 11 free throws during this period.  Twinsburg took a 41-39 lead in overtime but Notre Dame rallied for the victory.

Notre Dame shot 40% from the field including one of five from the three point line.  The Pandas connected on 13 of 34 free throws, pulled down 38 rebounds, and scored 13 points off 14 Twinsburg turnovers.  Twinsburg shot only 18% from the field including three of 28 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Tigers connected on 16 of 22 free throws, pulled down 53 rebounds, and scored 11 points off 13 Notre Dame turnovers. 

Carlee Clemons led Notre Dame with 11 points, seven rebounds, and three steals.  Elly Ogle added 10 points, 10 rebounds, and three steals.  Haylee Smith recorded seven points, seven rebounds, and two blocked shots.  Sydney Stallman chipped in with seven points and four rebounds.

Baleigh Reed led Twinsburg with 19 points including 13 of 16 free throws and eight rebounds.  Aloneet Durden added 13 points including two three point baskets and 10 rebounds.  Jaime Sanborn and Marisa Howard pulled down 11 and nine rebounds respectively.

Griffin Dempsey led St. Joseph with 19 points including five three point baskets.  Rachel Lee added 17 points including four three point baskets.  Mychal Johnson’s shot was not falling today as she only recorded four points, but she pulled down nine rebounds, and recorded 10 assists and three steals.

Malerie Martin led Mercy with 12 points and seven rebounds.  Elizabeth Anderson added 12 points and six rebounds.  Hannah Bewley chipped in with 11 points.

Sacred Heart Academy defeated Bullitt East by a score of 55-39.  Sacred Heart shot 45.7% from the field including two of 18 from the three point line.  The Valkyries connected on 11 of 21 free throws, pulled down 49 rebounds, and scored six points off 12 Bullitt East turnovers.  Bullitt East shot 25% from the field including one of 10 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Chargers connected on 10 of 26 free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored eight points off 21 Sacred Heart turnovers.

DaiJia Ruffin led Sacred Heart with 21 points, 19 rebounds, and four assists.  Ruffin was nine of 12 from the field including zero of one from beyond the arc, and three of five free throws.  Raven Merriweather added 16 points, nine rebounds, and four assists.  Gretchen Samsel chipped in with 10 points including two three point baskets.

Blackman defeated Incarnate Word 58-49 in a battle between two of the top teams in the country.  Blackman shot 46.7% from the field including three of 15 from the three point line.  The Lady Blaze connected on 13 of 22 free throws, pulled down 29 rebounds, and scored 16 points off 16 Incarnate Word turnovers.  Incarnate Word shot 34.5% from the field including five of 14 from beyond the arc.  The Red Knights connected on only six of 17 free throws, pulled down 43 rebounds, and scored 12 points off 13 Blackman turnovers.

MeMe Jackson led Blackman with 17 points including two three point baskets.  Crystal Dangerfield added 13 points and six assists.  Alex Johnson chipped in with 10 points and five rebounds.  5-6 Jr. Angel Allen recorded eight points.  Jazz Bond added seven points, eight rebounds, and four blocked shots.

Napeesha Collier led Incarnate Word with 16 points and 22 rebounds.  Nakiah Bell also scored 16 points including four three point baskets.

Trevor Hill led LCA with 23 points including two three point baskets.  Michael Young added 22 points, seven rebounds, and four steals.  Drew Trimble recorded seven points, 11 rebounds, and four assists.

Zack Rice-Gordon led Model with 16 points including three three point baskets and nine rebounds.  Jared Adams and Ephraim Otieno each recorded 12 points.  6-2 So. Alex Chen pulled down seven rebounds.
