Western Hills coach Jody Hellard started the following lineup: 5-5 Jr. Ashley Long, 5-4 So. Stephine Sparkman, 5-6 Jr. Sarah Hedden, 5-2 8th grader Lakenzie Ritchie, and 5-3 Sr. Rikki Quarles.  Lafayette coach Allison Denton countered with 5-7 Sr. Aleisha Stiltner, 5-7 Sr. Emily Justice, 6-0 So. Sarah Cooley, 5-4 Sr. Sarah Martin, and 5-6 So. Ken’yale Demus.

Lafayette pulled down a remarkable 64 rebounds and attempted 38 more shots (87-49) from the field than Western Hills in a 72-27 victory.  Lafayette shot 33.3% from the field including six of 31 from the three point line.  The Lady Generals connected on eight of 18 free throws, pulled down 64 rebounds, and scored 27 points off 23 Western Hills turnovers.  Lafayette held a 25-4 advantage in second effort points.  Western Hills shot 20.4% from the field including two of 17 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Wolverines connected on five of seven free throws, pulled down 39 rebounds, and scored two points off seven Lafayette turnovers.

Sarah Cooley led Lafayette with 14 points, 19 rebounds, and four assists.  Aleisha Stiltner added 14 points and 14 rebounds.  5-11 Fr. Dee Givens also scored 14 points and recorded four steals.  Sarah Martin also reached double figures with 10 points.  6-3 Fr. Ashanti Thomas chipped in with seven points, 12 rebounds, and five blocked shots.

Stephine Sparkman led Western Hills with 16 points including two three point baskets and seven rebounds.

Western Hills (27) – Long 2, Sparkman 16, Hedden 0, Ritchie 1, Quarles 2, Harrod 2, Hibdon 2, Leachman 2.

 

Lafayette (72) – Stiltner 14, Justice 3, Cooley 14, Martin 10, K. Demus 0, Givens 14, S. Demus 7, Thomas 7, Pankins 3.
