2010 7th Region Tournament (Girls)

Atherton High School

March 1st, 2010

 

Ballard  (19-11)  vs.  Jeffersontown  (19-8)  (Girls)

Jeffersontown raced out to a 35-23 lead and held on down the stretch for a 48-47 victory.  Jeffersontown shot 41.9% from the field including four of 11 from the three point line.  The Lady Chargers connected on eight of 12 free throws, pulled down 36 rebounds, and scored 16 points off 15 Ballard turnovers.  Ballard shot 30.4% from the field including one of 12 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Bruins connected on 12 of 18 free throws, pulled down 35 rebounds, and scored 26 points off 28 Jeffersontown turnovers.

6-2 Jr. Lennette Holt led Jeffersontown with 18 points and nine rebounds.  5-6 Sr. Camila Calderon added 10 points.

5-7 Sr. Nicole Heitz and 5-7 Sr. Larissa Stafford led Ballard with 15 points each.  6-2 Jr. Jaylan Bodiford recorded six points, 11 rebounds, and two blocked shots.

Mercy Academy  (20-8)  vs.  Assumption  (17-10)  (Girls)

Mercy raced out to a 24-10 first quarter lead on their way to a 67-47 victory over Assumption.  Mercy shot 46.7% from the field including seven of 18 from the three point line.  The Jaguars connected on 18 of 24 free throws, pulled down 28 rebounds, and scored 22 points off 27 Assumption turnovers.  Assumption shot 36.1% from the field including 15 of 24 free throws, pulled down 28 rebounds, and scored 21 points off 17 Mercy turnovers.

5-8 Jr. Juliann Miller led Mercy with 21 points including two three point baskets and pulled down six rebounds.  5-9 Sr. Ellen Sholtes added 14 points including two three point baskets.

6-0 Sr. Molly Ernst led Assumption with 14 points including two three point baskets.  5-9 Jr. Maggie Hartlage added 10 points.

Christian Academy of Louisville  (23-6)  vs.  duPont Manual  (24-5)  (Girls)

 

CAL’s Allison Karst hit a driving layup in the closing seconds of overtime to give the Lady Centurions a 68-67 overtime victory over duPont Manual.  CAL trailed 42-35 entering the final quarter but rallied for the victory.  CAL shot 44.2% from the field including 10 of 22 from the three point line.  The Lady Centurions connected on 12 of 17 free throws, pulled down 29 rebounds, and scored 17 points off 15 Manual turnovers.  CAL held a 30-9 advantage in three point points.  Manual shot 50.9% from the field including three of five from beyond the arc.  The Lady Crimsons connected on 10 of 13 free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and scored 13 points off 16 CAL turnovers.

6-1 Sr. Antonita Slaughter led CAL with 25 points including two three point baskets and pulled down eight rebounds.  5-10 Sr. Allison Karst added 21 points including three three point baskets, and pulled down six rebounds.  5-7 Fr. Casey Marshall chipped in with 11 points including three three point baskets.  5-9 Fr. China Dow recorded 11 points including two three point baskets.

5-10 Jr. Mechael Guess led Manual with 21 points and 11 rebounds.  5-7 So. LeAsia Wright added 11 points.

Moore  (15-13)  vs.  Sacred Heart Academy  (16-13)  (Girls)

Sacred Heart defeated Moore by a score of 60-49.  Sacred Heart shot 49% from the field including one of three from the three point line.  The Valkyries connected on nine of 18 free throws, pulled down 34 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 20 Moore turnovers.  Moore shot 36.7% from the field including four of 11 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Mustangs connected on nine of 17 free throws, pulled down 35 rebounds, and scored 16 points off 15 Sacred Heart turnovers.

Sacred Heart’s Morgan Clemons had a “monster” game tonight with 29 points and six rebounds.  5-11 Jr. Annamarie Campbell added 11 points.  5-4 Jr. Maddie Peabody chipped in with nine points, eight rebounds,five assists, and seven steals.  5-9 Sr. Mary Gordon Stough pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds.

6-3 Sr. Ondrea Shaw led Moore with 15 points, 10 rebounds, and seven blocked shots.  5-6 Sr. Whitney Jones added 14 points and seven rebounds.

Sacred Heart    15    19    13  13  -  60

Moore (49) – Adkins 2, Jones 14, Shaw 15, Horsman 9, Guy 7, Wilson 2.

Sacred Heart (60) – Stough 4, Tubb 1, Clemons 29, Washle 4, Peabody 9, Storch 2, Campbell 11.
