Lexington Catholic coach Brandon Salsman started the following lineup: 6-4 Jr. Taylor Martin, 6-3 Jr. Scott Schuette, 6-8 Sr. Tanner Peurach, 6-0 Jr. Seth Beckham, and 6-0 So. Jaylen Beckham. Clark County coach Scott Humphrey countered with 6-8 Jr. Vinny Zollo, 6-6 Jr. Jaylen Daniel, 6-5 Jr. Corey Rogers, 6-0 Sr. Chase Kindred, and 6-4 Jr. Robbie Stenzel.
Lexington Catholic raced out to a 23-13 first quarter lead and was never threatened in a 61-44 victory over Clark County. Clark County was coming off a close loss to Scott County on Sunday and to make the evening worse Robbie Stenzel went down late in tonight’s game with an ankle injury.
Lexington Catholic shot 48.1% from the field including five of 12 from the three point line. The Knights connected on four of seven free throws, pulled down 25 rebounds, and scored 31 points off 23 Clark County turnovers. Clark county shot 39.5% from the field including two of seven from beyond the arc. The Cardinals connected on 12 of 12 free throws, pulled down 28 rebounds, and scored nine points off 12 Lexington Catholic turnovers.
Jaylen Beckham led Lexington Catholic with 16 points, five rebounds, and five assists. Tanner Peurach also scored 16 points and pulled down six rebounds. Scott Schuette and Seth Beckham each recorded nine points.
Robbie Stenzel led Clark County with 19 points including two three point baskets. Vinny Zollo added 10 points and nine rebounds.
