I was wondering if motions that had passed during a previous Executive boards rein, do these carry over to the new presiding officers? Do motions bind the hands of a new body after an election? I would thing by-law changes would but I am uncertain about motions?

I think we have a probability approaching Unity that the jknox65 on the RONR Discussion Forum, the Refounding Father Society and the Webmaster of the LCRCC James Knox are all the same person.
Now I must point out that this does not mean that the Chair and the Rest of the Exective Committee Lied to the Body
But a Valid Question would be
What did they Know and WHEN did they know it.
We know that on the moring of Janurary 28th of this year Mr Knox knew full well that the claim made that

Was NOT True.
Another Valid question would be WHERE did the concept that the above WAS true originate?
If it came from Mr Knox then I believe he should NEVER be allowed to be in ANY position of Responsibilty UNSUPERVISED
If it came from one of the persons from whom Parliamentarian advice was claimed then they should NOT ever be used as Parliamentarians again,
I think this goes way beyond a simple mistake or misinterpretation.
I have not the slightest doubt that Mr Chung would never in a thousand years allow something like this to slip by him HAD he been involved,
In conclusion I know not what others may think but the Executive Committee has a severe credibility gap with me and some things to explain at our Next Meeting

No. The board is free to rescind (or otherwise amend) motions previously adopted by the board (assuming, of course, that the actions authorized by the motions have not been completed). There is no "expunging".
It's best not to think of "the old board" and "the new board". It's just "the board" (with occasional changes in membership).
Everything I know about RONR I learned from Mr. Mountcastle. And everything he knows about RONR he learned from this forum.

They're Baack
The Vanished March Minutes seemed to have returned,
They seem unchanged but I have not checked every little bit of the present one to the original
There are still a few things that raise my blood pressure for instance
(Note I have used a link to the minutes section of the Linn County GOP website but if the March Minutes Vanish again I have a Clone Copy on my Server)
• The Chair explained that the Iowa Code, the Republican Party Constitution and Bylaws and the
Linn County Republican Party Constitution and the Linn County Republican Party Bylaws require
that the committee re-organize by April 1st following each general election.

I call something like this a "Michael Moore" because it leads those who hear or read it to think one thing, but if pressed the author can honestly(?) claim that is not what they said at all.
I would wager that most who heard this the Night of the St Patrick's Day Massacre came to the conclusion that one of the Foremost Parliamentarians not only supported the Executive Committee's Plan but had ruled that the
Linn County Republican Party Constitution and the Linn County Republican Party Bylaws require(d) it
That was NOT the Truth
How do I know this?
First because I knew the basis of their position and considered it fallacious
Second because I had every confidence that he would find it that way too

They are based on the Sections of the Constitution and the Bylaws that discuss the OFFICERS
And in fact discuss the requirements for organizing the Officer's elections before April 1st following each General Election.
If they referred to a massive overhaul of the Committee then this would be mentioned in the Section on the Commitee

treasurer, and such other members as the County Central Committee in its by-laws may

They also mentioned Sections of the State Constitution and Bylaws and Election Code but were lacking on details
But they DID follow a Pattern of Behavior that we have seen before
We have a CRISIS we MUST ACT NOW in this case before April 1st
OH and one of the Foremost Parliamentarians in the State Says we HAVE to do this or OMG The SKY WILL FALL.
That last bit was as True this time as it has been True other times it has been used in point of Fact

If your vote the Night of the St Patrick's Day Massacre when 4 years of hard work and every single Sub-Committee we had established and all the members of those Committees went down the tube.
Was swayed because you BELIEVED that one of the Foremost Parliamentarians in the State of Iowa Said that this was REQUIRED?

To Vote Or Not To Vote
Dimitri was walking towards the Ballot Box when he started to open his ballot

Excuse me Conrade Commisar Dimitri said, but I was curious aout who I was voting For.
Dimitri You IDIOT the Commisar replied, Don't You know this is SECRET BALLOT.
Voting is rather important. People have risked death and dismemberment to be able to Vote
So when I heard that people were making "assumptions" about their Right to Vote under the New Team System
I decided to take a look at it.
I am of course refering to the Plan thet is contained in Missing March Minutes.
Which I managed to Save before the Vanished from the Linn County Website.
Not I might add the version of the Plan that was subsituted 2 Days after the St Patrick's Day Massacre which may SAY that is was
" APPROVED BY VOTE OF THE LCRCC 3/17/15 "
But that is a Lie because it was ALTERED and is theefore NOT what was voted on and adopted.
Somebody was trying to be a tad sneaky?
I mean if you want to rewrite History you should wait more than 2 days. It helps to instill NEWTHINK to let enough time pass that people's memories get a little dim
In any case there is some verbage about the constitution of our Teams
- LCRCC members are asked to signup as a voting member for one team. Each team starts with 5 voting members.
- The objective is to match volunteer time and skills with the mission or activity of the team.
- Some teams (such as Fundraising, Caucus, Convention) will require additional members to accomplish their tasks.
- These will grow, as the team leader deems necessary
Now I have heard that some folks are "assuming" that the additional members will ALSO be voting members.
That might not be the case.
It says in the section called Recommendation going forward
This sub-committee needs five voting members, including the chair. Although it is expected that other sub-committee chairs would attend the meetings and any central committee members have any interest in the proceeding from the committee, they would not be voting members
I suggest it might not be Wise to ASSUME who is or is not going to be allowed to Vote.
There exists the possiblity that Voting may be limited to only 5 members on a Team who for the most part would be those hand picked by the Ones who made this motion,.
And the Rest?
Would be what the Nomenklatura in the Former Soviet Union used to call
The Proletariot.
Those who get to do the Work, but have No Real Say in How Things Are Run
Now I am NOT saying that we need to ASK for clarification on this point.
What I am saying is that the BODY needs to clarify this point
After this Plan was adopted by it's Vote of 25 to 21 the Plan became the Property of the Body and NOT those who made the Motion
The Teams are under the Authority of the Body.
And the Executive Committee which made this Motion?
No Change IT is
subject to the orders of the Linn County Central Committee, and none of its acts shall conflict with actions of the Linn County Central Committee

We Have Ways
We have ways of dealing with People like YOU!
That's an Old Familiar Story. One that I have a fair amount of experience with.
There are those who will actually engage you on Field of Ideas. They come wielding the armor of Logic and ths Sword of Reason
Now their Logic may be flawed and their Reason may be Blind but they are at least honorable Foes.
Then there are the Others.
Those whose goals are Power and Control, They wish mostly to Silence any Voices raised in Disagreement with them.
Rober Heinlein stated it most aptly when he said "
Political tags - such as royalist, communist, democrat, populist, fascist, liberal, conservative, and so forth - are never basic criteria. The human race divides politically into those who want people to be controlled and those who have no such desire
The methods used to encourage Silence may vary but the process is used by Some on All Sides of the Political Spectrum.
In recent weeks those methods have included.
An attempt to Steal My Identity and request that the Web Server Host where my website resides Cancel my Account. They lacked enough of my personal information so that failed,
There was a report to Facebook of Suspicous Activity on My Facebook Account so I had to fill out a form Affirming that the Financial Means used to buy Facebook Ads were my Own and i had to submit to them a Jpg of a Government Issued Color Photo Id to verify that I am indeed A US Citizen,.
Still have not heard back from Facebook on that little Deal
And of course there was the Famous Letter sent to me by Tah Dah

Other people who do not like my Poltical Ideas know where I live and have in the Past also expressed their displeasure with what I stand for,
During the McCain Palin Campaign I lost count of the number of times I had to straighten out the legs and put my signs back up in my front yard.
This happened over and over.
Then one day I woke up and while I had been sleeping my signs had been mangled again and two windows had been smashed out in my car
SO
I put my signs back up and had the windows replacec,
Sometime later I came home from work and found my signs mangled and the porch light hanging from the wires. Someone had ripped it loose from the Wall
SO
I put my signs back up and told my Landlord and he fixed the porch light.
Then one Day I can out of my house and my Landlords who are also my next door neighbors hollered out that someone had ripped the downspout off the house and threw it in the front yard by my mangled signs
It was now up agains the house my Landlord said at the time he was going to wait until after the Election to fix it,.
I put my signs back up.
Did I mention I can be stubborn?
There are one distinct difference between those who harassed me then and now.
I have no earhtly idea who the first people were.
While I do not know for certain who this latest group are I can make some guesses.
One of those who I might suspect put a comment on the LCRCC Facebook Group site saying how he wished HE had written the harassing letter sent to me.
Someone forwarded me this link to a anonymous letter that I really wish I could have taken credit for. Heck I would have signed my name, so please consider it mirroring my sentiments. Perhaps it reflects yours?
What a fool writes a blog and complains about a group he claims to be of but opposes at every opportunity to do so.
Unless maybe the comment was an April Fools Joke?
In any event there are also some similarities between the two groups
They both wrap themselves in a Self Assumed Cloak of Moral Superiority and their morals admit the same stench that once upon a time came from Brown Shirts
They also liked to silence those who disagreed with them.
Update: I just remembered there is a THIRD group that really hates me.
Quite some time I logged onto a discussion board and found out that i had been informed that
There are now Hundreds of the Faithful Praying to Allah (PBUH) on a Daily Basis that your Soul be Ripped Shrieking from your Body by the Angel of Darkness and Thrown Into the Bottomless Pit of Endless Torment for All Eternity.
Now it is much shorter than my recent letter but I think they got their point accross just as well.
So it would appear that there exists an Ecumenical Silence Dan Kauffman Movement possibly comprised of Evangelical Protestants, Catholics, Jihadist Muslims and Secular Huminist Atheists.
I seem to have rubbed everyone the wrong way

Being A Chair
The chairman sometimes calls a member to the chair and takes part in the debate
. This should rarely be done, and nothing can justify it in a case where much feeling is shown
and there is a liability to difficulty in preserving order. If the chairman has even the appearance of being a partisan, he loses much of his ability to control those who are on the opposite side of the question.
There is nothing to justify the unfortunate habit some chairmen have of constantly speaking on questions before the assembly, even interrupting the member who has the floor.
One who expects to take an active part in debate should never accept the chair, or at least should not resume the chair, after having made his speech, until after the pending question is disposed of.1 The presiding officer of a large assembly should never be chosen for any reason except his ability to preside.
Trolls Matter Too
Recently I ran into an intesting comment or two about Trolls
Some people are trolls....attended a great Social Media class on how to deal with them yesterday. Essentially there was a bunch of great suggestions until it came to the "political or religious troll' and then it was stated...'there is no rules as these type of trolls are irrational, emotional and self-supporting without reason'. This was the exact quote from the instructor.
Remind you of anyone my friends?
Now some might come to the erroneous assumption that the butt of this joke might be me, but that cannot be true at all.
The caricature that comes with it does not look anything like me.
No beard, No hair and a big smirk on its face?
Nope nothing like me but there is someone who that does look like,

That does not apply either,
I am not Irrational or without Reason.
When I have stated that the Constitution of the LCRCC has been violated I can and HAVE stated the specific sections that have been violated and the instances where not just the Spirit but the WORD of the Constitution has been violated and by whom.

I used Reason and was Rational when I pointed out those perversions of our Rules of Order.
My detractors, however are limited to unsupported assertions,

One Team Leader was created by a Vote of the Central Committee in Session,
The Other? Well I do not think they have EVER stated the Legal Authority used to remove one Team Leader and replace them with another,

There is no misunderstanding here - Justin is not the team lead of Membership.
Therefore, the meeting tonight will be viewed and treated as a gathering of like-minded friends. It will not replace nor usurp the authority of the meeting on 4/14. We've been down this road before with another committee last September.
There is only one position left on the team. If Justin would like to recommend an individual to Mike or if someone would like to volunteer to Mike, that's wonderful. The 4 individuals are Mike Dupree, Deb Dupree, Gary Ellis, Justin Wasson. Others have expressed interest in helping without holding a voting position, as they are voting members of another team.
As for a different view of the Executives - I do not respond to third-hand information. If Justin (or anyone else) wants to communicate, it can be done in person or via a phone call. Innuendo, distortion and third-party personal attacks through other sources will NOT get him where he wants to be. I refuse to play those games.
Apparently, Justin has the capability to express his concerns to you. If he wants to talk, he knows how to reach me.
I will be tied up with out-of-town clients today and tomorrow so will have limited ability to read or respond to emails or phone calls. I will try to stay on top of any pressing concerns.

Mike and Justin will hopefully work well together, as we move forward, with Membership.
I noticed an e-mail tonight from Justin recommending a couple of more members for the Team.
I have been swamped this week and just getting caught up with more e-mail.
Justin is not going to be a member of the Treasurer's Team, but as we get closer to Caucus and Convention, I would suspect he will have an interest in working with our Team to support various tasks, the Chair and Treasurer have with compliance with Iowa Code and our accounting and recording functions?
He shared with me that he was active with three committees last period, before the new Executive Election. Change can be challenging with our membership. Some are voicing concerns ...
He has some different ideas than the Executive Committee and is interested in voicing his concerns.

Some People cannot handle responsibility.
Iowa and New Hampshire share between them a signal honor and a responsibility.
They are first in the Nation as regards Presidential Races.
We are the First Caucus State they are the First Primary State.
The single most important thing for either is to

The Party MUST NOT be partisan.
We must treat all candidate with an even and unbiased hand,
The very appearance of Bias can threaten what has been for generations a source of pride for many Iowans.
Party officials must abide by these strictures.
Which is why it is alarming to see the Facebook Pages of the second largest County in the State having the appearance of
Ted Cruz For President Forums
Party officials should not allow that sort of bias to show on the County pages.
Nor should they perform partisan activities on the personal pages.
If they wish to do that. If it is that important to them,'
They should resign their position as others have done in the Past to work in election campaigns.
Now some might accuse me of writing this because I do not favor Ted Cruze.
That would be the result of their own ignorance,
I LIKE Senator Cruz and think he is an exciting and dynamic candidate.
I also think Rafael Rocks.
No it is not because I oppose Ted Cruze that I write this, but because I opppose irresponisibel unethical behavior.
If you are a Party official you represent ALL Republicans, not just the ones that you agree with.

It needs to stop.

A Tale Of Two Teams
We seem to have Two
Membership Meeting and Setup Teams.
One established by a Vote of the Linn County Republican Central Commitee in Session as part of a Motion made by the Executive Committee.
Which can be seen in the . Minutes of the March 17th Meeting that I have saved on my website because the original March Minutes on the Linn County GOP Website seem to have vanished.
I also wish to take Note that a version of what was called the Road Map to Victory 2016 sent out AFTER the meeting is NOT the same as the one in the March Minutes before they Vanished.
So the Note on it that states
APPROVED BY VOTE OF THE LCRCC 3/17/15
Is NOT True
The newer version differs in the makeup of the Meeting and Setup Team.
So one was established by the Authority of a Vote of the Central Committee as a whole.
The other by WHAT Authority?
I have NO idea, It seems to be a version of
"Because We Say So."
I recall hearing that kind of responce as a Child but that Dog doesn't Hunt Anymore.
Our Executive Committee seems to have decided that since they abolished all the Sub-committees and their memberships by a Vote of 25 to 21 that they no longer NEED to bother with Votes to Do Anything they Choose.
What is that Stench some of you may be thinking?

Usurpation Of Powers
During the March Meeting of the Linn County Central Committee or as some have decided to call it the St Patrick's Day Massacre.
The Executive Committee made a Motion which in effect abolished every single Sub Committee that had been established over 4 years of hard work and consigned them, their Charters and their members to the Dust Bin of History.

It would appear that the Purge of the Poison of the Pursuits of Petty People will take futher action on their part.

At first glance at the Plan that was Passed it would appear that along with abolishing every single Sub-Committee and its membership the New "Teams" which will do what the Sub-Committees used to do were to be run by the Executive Committee's Chosen.
With a few exceptions. There were some token positions given to members of the Poison.
For instance the Membership & Meeting Setup Team - a New branding of the Credentials Sub-Committee was to be headed by Justin Wasson with Mike Dupree and Deb Dupree,
That seems to have changed since the Vote was taken,

Mike Dupree is the Team Leader for the Membership and Meeting Support Team.
I have several problems with that statement.
First I have looked at the Plan presented to be voted on and there is no
Membership and Meeting Support Team. there is a Membership & Meeting Setup Team which has Justin Wasson listed as Team Leader.
I have also looked closely at the Handout Voted upon and there is Not ONE Sentence, Word, Letter or even Punctuation Mark that gives ANYONE tfhe Authority to Change ANYTHING in the Motion that was Passed
Without the Consent and VOTE of the Body
PERIOD
Nor is there anything in the County Constitution, ByLaws or our Rules of Order which permits such an action
What we have here folks is a good Old Fashioned Usurpation of Power.

Let me start by saying that you don't have the authority to remove me from the team lead position. The body voted me to this position and I have not resigned. Perhaps you should read the part in the LCRCC constitution which states:
"The Executive Committee is subject to the orders of the Linn County Central Committee, and none of its acts shall conflict with the actions of the Linn County Central Committee."
In other words, you can not arbitrarily remove me from this team. On top of that, even if you could remove me, don't you think it would be prudent to tell me that I was removed?
You tell about half the story in your long e-mail and then make up the other half. I will respond accordingly to set the record straight with your comments in bold and my responses following in regular print:
- Before the March 17th LCRCC Monthly meeting I bought you lunch. We discussed your participation in the Membership and Meeting support Team. I explained the changes we anticipated making. You declined to commit to participate on the Membership and Meeting Support Team at that time.
As I reminded you in an e-mail send two weeks ago, you NEVER discussed the anticipated changes with me. The only thing you told me was that you wanted to change the name from Credentials Committee to Membership for 'rebranding purposes.' I told you I was against this change because Credentials Committee was already a functioning and thriving committee and didn't need 'rebranding.' I believe that the members of the committee would agree to this. The Credentials Committee had 19 active members on it, now the new team has 3 members, 2 of whom have limited experience at credentialing. This does not seem like progress to me. I invited the former credentials members because we NEED them! This is not an easy job and requires many people helping out.
- Following the March 17th meeting both Cindy and I attempted to contact you multiple times by phone, text and e-mail. You failed to respond or call us back. Cindy reached you from a different number and you declined to speak with her.
Cindy called me and was very rude. I was volunteering with 8 middle school girls from Boys and Girls Club and was in the middle of cooking dinner for 100 people when she called me. She demanded that she needed information from me right at that moment. I understand she has a habit of calling people when they're busy and demanding immediate attention from them. I told her I was busy volunteering and didn't have time. She continued to make the demand and when I realized she was not concerned about the importance of my time, I hung up on her. This was the day after she pushed me and yanked the microphone out of my hand in the open meeting, another very rude gesture. If I had treated you the same way she treated me then you would be reluctant to call me back as well.
Maybe rather than telling just one side of the story, you should listen to the whole thing. These Boys and Girls Club girls are important to me. You may not be able to understand, but I spend a lot of time with them and get a great sense of reward by helping teach them some very important life skills. I am not expecting you to empathize or relate, I just want you to know that unlike some people, my passions in life do not begin and end with the LCRCC.
- Following those contacts I e-mailed you on the 19th and explained we understood you were unwilling to commit to the Membership and Meeting Support Team. You did not respond or contact us. Following that we discussed the Membership and Meeting Support Team with Mike Dupree. Mike agreed to lead the team.
This is another lie. I have sent you multiple e-mails after your March 19th e-mail with no response from you. Here are just a couple that I sent relating to the subject:
"How about you tell me what a 'Team' is before I commit to leading one." -March 20, 2015
"I never requested to be a 'Team Leader,' or whatever they are called, but the body voted me as one. I also have not resigned from the position. Before committing to anything I want to know the expectations and rules." -March 22, 2015
I never got a response from you or any of the executive after I sent both of those e-mails. Who interprets a request for MORE information as an indicator that a person is "unwilling to commit?" Perhaps someone who doesn't want the people to know the whole truth.
- You were on the distribution of the meeting notice for the March 30th Team meetings with the Executive Committee. You did not respond as requested and confirm your participation.
Lie after lie. Here are the excerpts from THREE different e-mails I sent to you and all of the executives on three different days with NO response:
"I have not been invited to any Wednesday meeting until you (Brett Mason) mentioned it just now." -March 21, 2015
"I am going to mention this again because it concerns me. I have neither been invited, nor was I aware of any meeting on Wednesday. This concerns me because it appears, at least from my perspective, to be an attempt to keep me out of the loop." -March 22, 2015
"I assume that, due to the lack of response, I am not invited for the Wednesday meeting that Brett alluded to this weekend." -March 23, 2015
I was NEVER sent the invitation by any of the executives and never got a response to any of the above e-mails. The only reason I knew about the meeting was because another 'team leader' was generous enough to send me the invitation. It is hard to RSVP to something when the host chooses not to send you an invitation in the first place. Perhaps you should look back at your e-mail records before you make such a blatant lie. You are quick to tell everyone your 'facts,' but I have provided actual written documentation showing you are incorrect. I have received zero e-mails on these subjects from you or any of the executives between your March 19th e-mail and your e-mail from yesterday.
- On Monday March 30th you attended a portion of a meeting of the LCRCC Executive Team and the Team Leaders of all the Teams. During that meeting it was announced that Mike Dupree was the Team Leader of the Membership and Meeting Support Team. You remained silent, apparently accepting that Mike was the Team Lead.
Once again, you don't have the authority to remove me from the team lead position. The body voted on a plan that included me in this position, not Mike, and I have not resigned. You can not just announce a new person as a team leader because you want to. Please reference the quote of the LCRCC constitution from above as my reasoning to believe this.
In addition, this announcement you mention was either made after I left the meeting or you are lying again. I apologize that I had other important business and had to leave early. However, I had to free up two nights for this potluck because the first night was canceled. Perhaps you should consider the sacrifices I did have to make to be able to attend for the full hour that I did before you cast judgment on my early departure.
- I do not understand what you attempted to accomplish by your email.
I intend to accomplish the job that the body voted me to do. Don't belittle my actions simply because you do not agree with them.
- If you decide to proceed with a meeting on April 9th I will attend. I will be glad to discuss the above and answer the questions about the Membership and Meeting Support team. In closing I should note that as Secretary of the LCRCC I received the official LCRCC membership file from Julie Blumer. I am maintaining it going forward.
As the Membership and Meeting Setup team lead, this will continue to be my responsibility. I've told you this before, Gary: You do your job, and I'll do mine. No need to turn over the membership file you received from Julie. I also have a copy. The meeting will also continue as planned on the 9th.
In closing, I would like to point out that I am not excluding Mike and Debbie from participating on this team in any way. I think you owe both of them an apology for mixing them up in this like you have. But, while they are more than welcome to participate, neither of them have experience with credentialing for the LCRCC. And the fact that you think that only three people are necessary to do this job shows how inexperienced you are, as well. I'd also like to ask how this underhanded approach to try and remove me from this team against the will of the body is helping to get Republicans elected. Trust and unity are no longer words that are synonymous with this organization. Three years ago they were and we were a well functioning central committee, but those days seem long gone.

Chris Kyle
Got an email from my friend Nic.
It said: This account of Chris Kyle and his funeral in the aftermath of his murder is told by the wife of one of the Navy SEALS in attendance.
It is a story that is not being told by fully 90% of the media.
It makes interesting but hardly surprising reading ...
"Chris Kyle became the armed services number #1 sniper of all time. Not something he was happy about, other than the fact that in so doing, he saved a lot of American lives.
Three years ago, his wife Taya asked him to leave the SEAL teams because he had a huge bounty on his head by Al Qaeda. He did and wrote the book "The American Sniper." 100% of the proceeds from the book went to two of the SEAL families who had lost their sons in Iraq.
That was the kind of guy Chris was. He formed a company in Dallas to train military, police and I think firemen, how to protect themselves in difficult situations. He also formed a foundation to work with military people suffering from PTSD. Chris was a giver not a taker. He, along with a friend and neighbor, Chad Littlefield, were murdered trying to help a young man that had served six months in Iraq and claimed to have PTSD.
Now I need to tell you about all of the blessings. Southwest Airlines flew in any SEAL and their family from any airport to the funeral... free of charge. The employees donated buddy passes and one lady worked for four days without much of a break to see that it happened. Volunteers were at both airports in Dallas to drive them to the hotel.
The Marriott Hotel reduced their rates to $45 a night and cleared the hotel for only SEALs and family. The Midlothian, TX Police Department paid the $45 a night for each room. I would guess there were about 200 people staying at the hotel, 100 of them were SEALs. Two large buses were chartered (an unknown donor paid the bill) to transport people to the different events and they also had a few rental cars (donated). The police and secret service were on duty 24 hours during the stay at our hotel. At the Kyle house, the Texas DPS parked a large motor home in front to block the view from reporters. It remained there the entire five days for the SEALs to meet in and so they could use the restroom there instead of the bathroom in the house.
Taya, their two small children and both sets of parents were staying in the home. Only a hand full of SEALs went into the home as they had different duties and meetings were held sometimes on a hourly basis. It was a huge coordination of many different events and security. Derek was assigned to be a Pall Bearer, to escort Chris' body when it was transferred from the Midlothian Funeral Home to the Arlington Funeral Home, and to be with Taya. A tough job. Taya seldom came out of her bedroom. The house was full with people from the church and other family members that would come each day to help. I spent one morning in a bedroom with Chris' mom and the next morning with Chad Littlefield's parents (the other man murdered with Chris). A tough job.
George W Bush and his wife Laura, met and talked to everyone on the Seal Team one on one. They went behind closed doors with Taya for quite a while. They had prayer with us all. You can tell when people were sincere and caring Nolan Ryan sent his cooking team, a huge grill and lots of steaks, chicken and hamburgers. They set up in the front yard and fed people all day long including the 200 SEALs and their families. The next day a local BBQ restaurant set up a buffet in front of the house and fed all once again. Food was plentiful and all were taken care of. The family's church kept those inside the house well fed.
JerryJones, the man everyone loves to hate, was a rock star. He made sure that we all were taken care of. His wife and he were just making sure everyone was taken care of....Class... He donated the use of Cowboy Stadium for the services because so many wanted to attend. The charter buses transported us to the stadium on Monday at 10:30 am. Every car, bus, motorcycle was searched with bomb dogs and police. I am not sure if kooks were making threats trying to make a name for themselves or if so many SEALs in one place was a security risk, I don't know. We willingly obliged. No purses went into the stadium!
We were taken to The Legends room high up and a large buffet was available. That was for about 300 people. We were growing.
A Medal of Honor recipient was there, lots of secret service and police and Sarah Palin and her husband. She looked nice, this was a very formal military service. The service started at 1:00 pm and when we were escorted onto the field I was shocked. We heard that about 10,000 people had come to attend also. They were seated in the stadium seats behind us. It was a beautiful and emotional service. The Bagpipe and drum corps were wonderful and the Texas A&M men's choir stood through the entire service and sang right at the end. We were all in tears.
The next day was the 200-mile procession from Midlothian, TX to Austin for burial. It was a cold, drizzly, windy day, but the people were out. We had dozens of police motorcycles riders, freedom riders, five chartered buses and lots of cars. You had to have a pass to be in the procession and still it was huge. Two helicopters circled the procession with snipers sitting out the side door for protection. It was the longest funeral procession ever in the state of Texas. People were everywhere. The entire route was shut down ahead of us, the people were lined up on the side of the road the entire way. Firemen were down on one knee, police officers were holding their hats over their hearts, children waving flags, veterans saluting as we went by.
Every bridge had fire trucks with large flags displayed from their tall ladders, people all along the entire 200 miles were standing in the cold weather. It was so heartwarming. Taya rode in the hearse with Chris' body so Derek rode the route with us.
I was so grateful to have that time with him.
The service was at Texas National Cemetery. Very few are buried there and you have to apply to get in. It is like people from the Civil War, Medal of Honor winners, a few from the Alamo and all the historical people of Texas. It was a nice service and the Freedom Riders surrounded the outside of the entire cemetery to keep the crazy church people from Kansas that protest at military funerals away from us. Each SEAL put his Trident (metal SEAL badge) on the top of Chris' casket, one at a time. A lot hit it in with one blow. Derek was the only one to take four taps to put his in and it was almost like he was caressing it as he did it. Another tearful moment.
After the service Governor Rick Perry and his wife, Anita, invited us to the governor's mansion. She stood at the door, greeted each of us individually, and gave each of the SEALs a coin of Texas. She was a sincere, compassionate, and gracious hostess. We were able to tour the ground floor and then went into the garden for beverages and BBQ. So many of the Seal team guys said that after they get out they are moving to Texas.. They remarked that they had never felt so much love and hospitality. The charter buses then took the guys to the airport to catch their returning flights. Derek just now called and after a 20 hours flight he is back in his spot, in a dangerous land on the other side of the world, protecting America
We just wanted to share with you, the events of a quite emotional, but blessed week."
[Punch-line]: *To this day, no one in the White House has ever acknowledged Chris Kyle; his service, his death, his duty, his generosity, his caring, his life. However, the President can call a sports person and congratulate him on his bravery for announcing to the world that he is gay. He can say on national television that someone, a man who has committed a crime and was shot by police in the line of duty, would have made him a good son*
The SEALS have asked that you please, keep this moving if you think Chris Kyle would have made a good son.
