Power Outage

I'm alone in my room,
And the power turns off.
I look for the candles,
The flames dance in the night.

There's nothing to do now,
So I head out the door.
I sit on a sidewalk,
Not a sound lurks tonight.

I look all around me,
There is light in the dark.
I inhale and look up,
Diamonds shine in the sky.

The stars twinkle and glare,
Their flaming radiance,
That lights up this darkness,
And brings peace to my heart.

I see a shooting star.
My eyes close for I wish,
That no clouds fill the sky,
And all my problems cease.

Minutes turn to hours,
I have fallen asleep.
The night becomes chilly,
I return home to rest.

I'm alone in my room,

I blow out the candles,
And I smile in my sleep.
