*Horsemen Have Referee Issues*
On August 2nd the New Era Horsemen both
benefited and suffered
loss due to officiating.
Triple Crown Champion Paul Atlas had
a member of the NWA East
Championship Committee sanction Jimmy
Anjel as a special referee for
the number one contenders match between
the Premiere Players and
Bison& Dale Price. All signs pointed
to the Horsemen having the
advantage in this match, but that was
not the case, as Anjel called
the match down the middle, to the dismay
of the Players.
Bison and Price got the pin to become
the number one contenders to
the NWA East Tag Team Titles, much to
the dismay of the Players.
In the Triple Crown Match between Paul
Atlas and Mad Mike, Mad
Mike was declared the new Champion after
gaining a pinfall on Atlas,
but the match was quickly restarted
by referee Harold Potter when
Mark Steele ran from the back and told
Potter that Atlas' leg was
under the bottom rope, and the pinfall
was not legal. Potter
restarted the match, and Atlas quickly
got a roll up to retain the
title. A furious Mad Mike laid out Steele
after the match.
*Devine Pulls Fast One, Becaomes Brass
Knux Champ*
Rookie Devin Devine pulled a fast one
on Nikita Allanov and Bigg,
and came out as the new NWA East Brass
Knuckles Champion.
Devine attempted to defend Bigg's Brass
Knuckles Title in the
first match of the evening, saying that
Bigg was not cleared by the
fight doctor to wrestle against Jimmy
Anjel. During the match Bigg
ran to ringside and laid Devine out
with a chair, saying he did not
tell Devine he could defend the Brass
Knuckles Title on this show, or
any other show, and that he knew he
had messed with his car before
the last Sportatorium show, and ratted
his injury to the doctor that
night. Bigg said if he wanted his Brass
Knuckles title bad enough,
to find a partner and he would put it
on the line in a tag match.
Devine convinced Nikita Allanov to be
his partner for the match
against Bigg and Cupid by promising
to let Allanov pin Bigg to win
back the Brass Knuckles Title. During
the match however Devine
distracted the referee when Allanov
had Bigg covered for the pin.
When Allanov got in Devine's face about
it, Devine tagged himself in
and snuck in and got the pin to win
the Brass Knuckles Belt.
*Gash, Idol Make Presence Known From
Crowd*
On the August 2nd Sportatorum show in
McKeesport, PA "Spotlight"
Scotty Gash made his presence in the
building known to Brandon K
after Gash won the drawing to choose
the Fan Appreciation match.
A drawing is done before intermission
at each Sportatorium show,
and the winner of the drawing is allowed
to pick any match between
any two wrestling in the building that
night. Gash, who does not
wrestle in the NWA, won the drawing
and chose the matchup of Brandon
K and Sterling James Keenan.
In the match, K defeated Keenan with
a role up, and than began to
sing after the match. K said he wanted
to show appreciation to Gash
for picking the match, and invited him
into the ring to sing with
him. Gash accepted and after singing
the chorus to ACDC's "You Shook
Me All Night Long", laid K out
with a superkick, followed by a Gash
Slam. Gash then revealed himself to
be a member of Damian
Stockholm's Cartel Alliance, and said
he would be teaming with
Crusher Hansen to challenge K and Dirk
Ciglar for the NWA East Tag
Titles in the evenings main event.
Also making his Sportatorium debut was
Justin Idol, who attacked
Axel Law after Law retained his NWA
East X Title in a Six man
elimination match.
After the match, Law got in the face
of Idol and made an open
challenge for any NWA East wrestler
in the "X" division to try
to
beat him, because no one seemed able
to. Law then climbed in
the ring and turned his back on Idol,
who slid in the ring behind Law
and laid him out. As Law screamed for
security to remove him from
the building Idol produced a copy of
his NWA East contract which he
had signed earlier in the night.
