Lead-Off when a runner steps
off of his/her base making a small advance towards the next
base before the pitch in order to steal or have an advantage start
run from a hit ball by the batter. JUNIOR LEAGUE, SENIOR LEAGUE, BIG LEAGUE ONLY!!!!!!
Lead-Off Batter The LEAGUE is a group of teams who play each other in a pre-arranged schedule under the rules for the league championship.
Left on Base The number of runners on base at the time a third out in a half-inning is made. Left Field The third of the outfield that is to the left, looking from home plate. The position played by the left fielder.
Left Fielder The player who defends left field.
LEGAL (Or LEGALLY) is in accordance with the Official Little League Rules. Legally Caught There are several conditions under which a pitch is legally caught:
A pitch is not legally caught if the ball gets stuck in the catcher's clothing or paraphernalia or if the pitch touches the umpire before the catcher catches it on the rebound. LHB Left-handed Batter LHP Left-handed Pitcher
Line Drive A batted ball that has a
trajectory that closely parallels and then moves toward the ground. LINE-UP A teams batting order and fielding positions. The nine players starting the game for a baseball team. The order and positioning of the players is set before the game, usually by the head coach or manager. Each position is represented by a number for scorekeeping purposes. A player substituting or pinch hitting for a starting player must hit in that starting player's batting order position, unless substituted via a double switch.

LITTLE LEAGUE BASEBALL International Congress A congress of Little League Baseball district administers held once every three years. Part of the agenda at each congress is to review any possible changes in rules and regulations of Little League, and to make recommendation for changes to Little League Baseball International Board of Directors. Another part of the agenda is to nominate for election five new members, from among district administrators, to the Little League Baseball International Board of Directors. and development of the children of Little League. LIVE BALL a ball which is in play. LO Left On LOB Abbreviation for "Left on Base" Simply means that the batter safely reached a base but did not score.
Losing Pitcher The pitcher who is responsible for giving up the run that allows the opposing team to win the game. Loss A defeat. The statistic credited to a losing pitcher. LP Losing Pitcher (see above)
