Okay, before I forget, there was an event I wanted to mention in the previous entry, but due to the serious tone I felt it was inappropriate, so I'll mention it quickly here. I went to a party on the previous Saturday, (17th), and due to a little encouragement from a new set of friends (okay, a very little encouragement) I allowed myself to become very drunk that night. To make a long story short, I awoke the next morning in the home of some girls I did not remember meeting, and my favorite t-shirt ended up in the garbage. If anyone wants the long version of the story, send me an email or a message thru the comment forms.

Okay, the day after my last entry I got my grades from this past semester (78 in Systems, 87 in Excel) and went home to my parents' house in Clarke's Beach. Christmas was good for the most part, I got just about everything I wanted I think, and with the money I was given I bought a small upgrade for my laptop. My parents were a little depressed Christmas day though, because this year we lost Mom's mom and Dad's dad, but they managed to enjoy most of our traditions.

The 27th was a confusing day. First, Dad had to leave for work (Offshore), but when Mom got back from dropping him off she had picked up the aforementioned upgrade. turned out it wasn't compatible with the laptop, so then we all (Mom, little bros and I) went back to St. John's to exchange it. They didn't have quite what I wanted, so I got a slightly smaller upgrade, plus an amazing Backpack: The Initiate by SwissGear. So we were excited by our success and disappointed that Dad had to leave, but overall it was an ok day.

Then that night, I went outside to look for Chevy and Stormy (the older 2 of our 3 cats) and found Chevy lying on the patio. at first I thought he was taking a nap, so I went to wake him and bring him in out of the cold, and realized he wasn't breathing. There was not a mark on him, and he had been fine all day, even running around the back yard with Kyle, and then that night he just went outside to die. The only thing about him that looked unusual at first was the expression on his face. His eyes were half open, squinting, and his teeth were bared. It was the look he used to give my little brothers whenever he saw them doing something stupid or dangerous. there was nothing else though to indicate any outside influence, and he was almost eight years old, so Mom just called a neighbor and had him taken away. If anyone wants a look at the creature that had been like a brother to me, even more, if possible, than the dogs I'd grown to love, his picture is now in the photo gallery.

Now today, Mom took my little brothers out to Grand Falls, to spend New Year's with my older sister, leaving me with an empty house, which I get to fill with friends on New Year's Eve. Not so much drinking this time, I want to remember MY party . . .

Wow, another long wait, but I have excuses, I swear! School's been extremely busy these last couple of weeks, with several exams and term assignments to complete. One of these was a group assignment, which means not only did I need the time to work on it, but also to add an hour each time for getting to and from the friend's house where we'd been working.

Ok, I've got to mention a serious topic for a moment. I've mentioned several times in this blog that my grandmother had been in the hospital for quite some time. A few times she seemed to be recovering, but it would always get worse just a few days later. On Thursday morning of last week (12/15/05), she passed away.

"But when the sun in all his state, Illumed the eastern skies, She passed through glory's morning gate, And walked in Paradise. "

Loosing a family member is never easy, especially at this time of year, but she lived a long, full life, and at 80 years old she had more grandchildren and great-grandchildren than I can count, and it was caring for her family that she seemed to enjoy most. At the end she seemed tired and was in such discomfort that it almost seems a relief that its over. We'll all miss you Nan, but I'm sure you're happy where are now.

There was more I had to talk about, but it seems inappropriate now. Maybe I'll write another entry tomorrow or over the weekend.

Ĉon Flux

Hi again. I can't believe I let this go more than 2 weeks, but I've been really busy with school work and stuff like that. Nothing extremely interesting, except maybe the movie I've seen twice this week. Its called Ĉon Flux, heard of it? It seems like not many did, which is not surprising considering the near total lack of hype. That's unfortunate, because its a decent movie. I've never seen the TV series it was based on, but I loved the story and a lot of the concepts it incorporates. It was better the second time around though, because I saw it with a friend, who's interests are very similar to mine and who's mind works in a similar way, so on the way home we actually discussed how some of the sci-fi concepts and inventions could have been accomplished. I don't expect much if anything to come of it, since neither of us is anywhere close to a degree in physics, which would probably be a bare minimum requisite, but that's just the way our twisted minds like to roam sometimes.

Oh, and speaking of the walk home, the weirdest thing happened that night! After we split up, (he going to the MUN Rez and I to my apartment) I got a tune stuck in my head. I couldn't remember hearing it, at least not recently, and I couldn't think what the title or lyrics might be, but the tune was so strong that at one point I was humming it. When I got home, I checked my LimeWire downloads, and there was a video file called something like "Fullmetal Alchemist AWESOME COLLECTOR MUST HAVE video" with no idication of whether it was a movie, an episode, or whatever. I played it, and it turned out to be an AMV (Anime Music Video, for the uninishiated) for THE SONG I'd been hearing over and over in my head! It turned out to be Evanescence - Bring Me To Life. WTF?!?!?
