02/20/06 - Another Week's gone by

This week was not quite as fun-filled, though I was still a lot more active than I used to be. It was the weekend when I was a little disappointed though. I went home again this weekend, hoping to hang out with the friends around there and/or play some SSBM or FF:CC. Now, I don't know what was going on, so I won't put blame on anybody, but let me put it this way: I spent the weekend with my demonic brothers. That wasn't as bad as it sometimes is, but I guess I'd gotten my hopes up. When I got home on Sunday though, I did get out of the house for a few hours. I went to Fog City (for the first time ever) with some friends, after which we saw a movie.

Ooh, a Movie review! The one we saw was "Date Movie". Ok, anyone out there who, like me, is brought to the verge of violent illness by romantic comedies, a condition that is only exasperated by the events surrounding the second week of February, will enjoy the thorough spoofing in this one. It makes fun of them all, and it is pretty much merciless. The only thing I didn't like was that it was ALL gags. Not much of a storyline here, but I guess thats what it was all about. It most closely resembled "My Big Fat Greek Wedding", but of course they mashed in story and plot elements from a lot of others. It was good for a laugh, but if I had to choose a movie, it would be low on my list.

02/13/06 - How was your weekend?

Or should I ask, "How was your week"? I'm letting this blog slip a lot lately, I never did get back on track after the busy period before Christmas. I'll try to do better, but the fact is I'm suddenly not quite the loner I used be, so I just don't have the time I did in, say, October. It does mean though that when I do write, I have more interesting things to write about.

This past weekend was in interesting one for me. First of all I didn't go home as I usually do, so the usual routine was completely out the window. Friday was supposed to go to a farewell party for a friend of mine (Emily, Jason's girlfriend, have I mentioned either of them yet?) but the weather wasn't cooperating. There was a huge blizzard, and I got stuck in the apartment. Ironically, one of my upstairs roommate had a birthday that day, and there was a party here in the house. Unfortunately by the time I found about this they were all drunk, and I didn't have any alcohol on hand, so it wasn't as fun as it should have been. I did go upstairs for a few minutes though, I mean, when a random, hot, blonde, drunk girl shows up at the bedroom door and says "lets party", you don't exactly say no.

The next day, being the morning Emily left town, Jason wasn't feeling 100% so I packed up all the distractions I could find (laptop, GCN, DS, GBA & GBASP, etc) and walked over. I stayed over all day, and that night, what was supposed to be a few guys having a couple of drinks, turned into yet another small party. This time I did have alcohol on me, my usual Rum & Cola, but I was starting off with a bad stomach, so I didn't want to drink too much. I ended up drinking about half the flask over about three hours, plus about a shot of "Fireball" whisky (what was left of Roberta & Joey's bottle, who obviously couldn't handle any more). So I was barely buzzed, but definitely relaxed. We played one drinking and some video games, but mostly it was just hanging and talking. Speaking of talking, Roberta had brought along her younger brother Joey, (the two of them had never gotten drunk together before) he got so drunk that at one point, while telling a story to Stacey, who he'd somehow cornered in a room upstairs, he seemed to be caught in loop! I figured that was a good point to interrupt and change the subject, but even that made for a hilarious hour or two.

Anyway, no one slept that night, except Roberta, who apparently can sleep through anything. The next day I stuck around for more video games, but for a while in the afternoon, I actually fell asleep while playing the game, so I decided it would be best to take a short nap, and attempt to walk home. The order was important, I actually thought that if I walked home in that condition, I might fall asleep in the road - and that would put my games in danger! I was asleep by 9:30 last night, but I still felt like I was dragging myself to school this morning. Not a hangover, it had been over 24 hours since I had any alcohol, and I don't get those anyway, just from being so damn tired.

Anyway, that takes me up to today, and I started writing this just after I got home from school, so I guess there's not much left to say. Wow - that was a long entry, I hope I have more weekends like that!

02/06/06 - New Old Theme Song!

First of all, since nobody responded to the question listed in my 2 previous blog entries, I have made a unilateral decision to reinstate my previous theme music. The song that should be playing in the background right now is "Rest in Peace" sung by James Marsters from the Buffy the Vampire musical episode, "Once More with Feeling". Some of the metaphors may seem a little dark for most people, but its a story of the torture of unrequited love, and the inability, though you know it would be for the best, to tear yourself away. Its a wonderful story, but I know what you're thinking: that's way too dark and pessimistic for Chris, he's always in a good mood! Well, it just goes to show that there's more to me than meets the eye. like ogres and onions, I bury myself in layers, my heart and my sleeve have never met. Oh, and if you've missed any of the wonderful metaphors and "in" jokes there, you're either blind or have been under a rock for the past, oh, 5 years or so.

02/05/06 - A new philosophy

I think I'm going to start paying a little closer to what the universe is telling me this week. I don't just mean suggestions from friends and family, but the WHOLE UNIVERSE. I've recently started receiving weekly emails from an astronomer, which are supposed to forecast how the week is supposed to proceed, and the types of things I should be focusing on on particular days. I don't know if this person is for real, but if she's fake, she's real good at customizing the emails to make it look she's providing me with individual attention. Also, now and then I get an unscheduled email informing of "important dates" that are upcoming, along with suggestions to buy things from her astronomer friends. Of course I haven't bought anything yet, but I like the rest of the setup, so I think I'm going to start following her predictions. Nothing serious, its stuff like "... a good day to get out of the house and engage in physical activity ..." or "... creative energies are running high, this is a good time to get to work on that project you've been putting off ...". I know this isn't very specific, and it could probably be reinterpreted to apply to anybody, but I need some kind of direction, and this seems as good as any. Besides, what if she's right? LOL

Anyway, in keeping with my theme of taking suggestions, I'm going to repeat the question I mentioned last time, since I got no answer before. Do you think I should put my theme music back up, or is it just annoying? Should I stick with the old song, or try something new? The old song was "Rest in Peace" from the BTVS musical (sung by Spike/James Marsters), and 2 others I've been considering are "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" by Green Day and "Kryptonite" by 3 Doors Down. If anybody out there cares to take a guess at my inner workings, here's a hint: all three of these songs holds a personal significance for me.

Oh, and to go with my new philosophy, I also have a new phone! My old cell phone was accidentally run over in the driveway this weekend, so Mom switched her number to an old phone that's not currently in use, and my number to her phone. So now I've got an even better camera phone than before, and this one's a flip phone! Yay for me! Yay for Rupe's car!

02/01/06 - Yeah! Snow Day!!

Ooh, February. I bet its going to be a good month for Snow days. Its just started and I got the day off, and it looks like I may get tomorrow too: forecast says the storm won't stop till lunchtime tomorrow, and my classes are done by 12:30. But that's not really why I'm writing, just why I have the time.

First: MSN 8.0 beta

I just got the beta version of the new MSN messenger, and I think it absolutely r0XX0rz (sorry, I tend to default to 1337, er, leet, when talking about experimental software). In order to get you've got to request an invite email, from this page, and I really suggest you do. It acts as a full fledged address book, getting the data either from the contact's account info, or allowing you to put it in yourself (I'm not sure whether this is saved to your account or your PC, but its definitely a private database).  It also looks alot better than the old version, and allows you to share folders and place audio calls to your contacts. (Thanks for the suggestion Rupe)

Oh yeah, and Crystal Chronicles

I know it's an old story for some of you, but I've just "Rediscovered" Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles. I had finally gotten a hold of four cables, four gbas, and four players, not to mention the player's guide I'll have this weekend (free gift with NP subscription), and was so hyped about finally doing it right that I decided to restart most of my files and play it over. Even now, in St. John's and not even a second player, I'm playing the single player mode, training my character so that I can be a more affective leader for the complete caravan. I figure I can make my character stronger, then when we're all playing together I can carry the chalice, allowing the other caravaners to experience most of the action, and then jump into the fray whenever it looks like they're in trouble. Also, I can use the items and gold I gather during training for the good of the caravan as well. I have done something similar with my little brothers, but it that was with a character from a separate file, which in my opinion is almost cheating. WEEEEEE this is gonna be fun.

Whoo, nice big entry this time. I'm gonna go enjoy the rest of my snow day, I'll see you around, oh, and I'd love to chat on messenger, haven't used the webcam and audio features of my new upgrade yet! Oh, btw, how many of you remember me having a theme song on this site? Do you think it was too annoying, or would like me to put it (or another) back up? My previous one had bee deleted by MyFileHut.com, but I think with my new organization structure I can fit it here on my Angelfire account.
