A computer system is more than just equipment.

A computer is an Information System  

It is actually made up of five parts:

1.     End users:  people who use the computers to find information, to solve problems and to make decisions.

2.     Procedures:  rules or guidelines for people to follow when using a computer

3.     Software:  also known as programs.  These are the step-by-step instructions that tell a computer what to do and how to do it

4.     Hardware: consists of the equipment; that is, keyboard, mouse, monitor, and other devices.  It is what actually processes the data you enter

5.  Data:  what you type in or input into the computer.  Once the data is processed, it is called information.
