D. Gottlieb's 1975 'El Dorado'

I picked up this game on 8/11/01. I drove to Monterey/Carmel to enjoy the cool coastal weather, get away from the kids for a day, do some shopping and pick up the game....killed several birds with one stone!
I got to play this game at a friend's birthday party in June and really liked it. They referred me to someone who happened to have one for sale.

Info from the Internet Pinball Database:

El Dorado/ D. Gottlieb & Co., March 1975, 1 player.
Model number: 370
Production run: 2875
Design: Ed Krynsky
Art: Gordon Morison

Notes: El Dorado was featured in the film 'American Graffiti'. Same playfield layout released in several versions: `Solar City'(2 player game) and `Target Alpha'(4 player game) and an export to France as 'Canada Dry'(also 4 player). Game was produced as an Add-A-Ball named `Gold Strike' and an Italian version named `Lucky Strike'.

Overall shot of the Game

Here is an overall shot of the game taken with my new digital camera- taken Feb. 2003.

My high score to date is 112,810 on 4/14/03.

El Dorado Backbox

The backglass was in pretty good shape, although, at some point in it's history, someone replaced the credit unit with the older style unit and modified the glass in that area. I have replaced the backglass with a new reproduction, and restored the credit unit to original.

El Dorado Playfield

The playfield shows a little wear, but is in pretty good shape considering there were over 152,000 games on the total play meter.
I love the action of the game- you have the whole game to reach your goal of getting all 15 targets down!
