D. Gottlieb's 1975 '300' Page 2

This is a second page documenting the building of the new 300 playfield I am designing and building. I also repainted the cabinet and have new pics of the machine.

The New Layout

I worked on several different designs before finally deciding on this layout. I think it is the most interesting and playable of the 4 I came up with.

Dec. 2000:
I have finished cutting all the holes out. I have also rounded up parts to build the new playfield. A lot of the parts I scrounged from the junked 'Pro Football' playfield I use for parts, such as wire rollovers, switches, light sockets, screws and more.

Week of 1-7-01:
Started mounting mechanisms, switches, light sockets, etc. under playfield. On the right top kickout hole, I had to hot wire it and test the angle of eject on the ball to make sure it ejected to where I wanted- the right flipper- it did!

Week of 1-14-01:
I will post a pic of this step soon!
Started connecting and running the wiring (the fun job). I am using the original schematic and playfield as a reference. The only thing really difficult to do is to wire in the necessary switces to trigger the drop target reset without affecting the circuitry for the original playfield, as I want to be able to switch out the playfields and play both. I'll detail this and more as I work on it.

Cabinet repainted! New Pics!

October 2003- I decided to touchup the backglass. I wasn't able to match the blue, and then when I painted the black mask on, it darkened it a little, and also some of the black seeped through and gave a crackled appearance...doesn't look that great on close inspection, but is not bad when viewed from a standard player's distance. The reflection of the camera flash also has more color contrast than when viewing it in person. I may try to redo it again in the future, but ideally, I would like to replace the glass with a better condition original or a repro..if it is ever done...

New Playfield Layout

Here is a shot of the new playfield in progress! I'm working on the wiring first, and will paint the top later.....
