The visiting clubs played two matches - one on Saturday and another on Sunday, in order to lower the cost of travel.

Fazlı Güleç, the governeor of İzmir at the time, asked the İzmir clubs merge and make two new clubs, so that they can compete better in the competitions.Altay, Altınordu, Buca merged under the name Üçok and Göztepe, İzmirspor, Yün Pamuk Mensucat merged under the name Doğanspor.

A win is awarded three points, a draw is awarded two points and a loss is awarded one point.
If a game is awarded, then the winner gets three points and 3 goals for as if the score is 3-0.
The loser gets 0 points, 0 goals for and 0 goal against.
The tie breaker is the average goals scored for each goals allowed - That is goals score for divided by goals allowed (scored against).

Doğanspor couldn't finish in the top two last year and İzmirspor left Doğanspor. For political reasons they played as Ateşspor instead of using the name İzmirspor.

Galatasaray had on awarded game against them and collected 35 points instead of 36. Ankara Demirspor also finished with 35 points. Who should be the champion? This was discussed a lot and eventually TFF decided that two clubs should play each other twice once at home and the other away.
During the first match, Ankara Demirspor goalkeeper - the captain of the team as well - fisted the referee and the match is awarded to Galatasaray and Galatasaray was announced the champion.
The decision was discussed a lot agaişn. They even asked help from FIFA. FIFA decided it was an internal matter and the problem should be solved using the regulations of the competition as declared by TFF. Finally, Beden Terbiyesi Genel Müdürlüğü, the authority above TFF, ruled that the average should decide the winner. Galatasaray having the better average was declared the champion.
