A Brief Summary

Atatürk Kupası was designed to bring Cumhurbaşkanlığı Kupası and Başbakanlık Kupası winners to face each other.
The big Marmara earthquake cancelled the cup in 1999.
It was held with a new status in 2000, since both Cumhurbaşkanlığı Kupası and Başbakanlık Kupası were discontinued. The new status was similar to the status of Cumhurbaşkanlığı Kupası - the league champion vs the cup winners. Since Galatasaray made a double that year, they played the second placed club at the league.
The cup couldn't be held in 2001 and 2002 because of the heavy traffic at UEFA cup games for the clubs to participate.
Atatürk Cup was discontinued in 2002-2003 season.
