South Carolina State coach Murray Gavin started the following lineup: 6-7 Sr. Gabriel McCray, 6-3 Jr. Eric Eaves, 6-8 Sr. Darryl Palmer, 6-0 Jr. Greg Mortimer, and 6-2 So. Ed Stephens. Longwood coach Jayson Gee countered with 6-6 S0. Khris Lane, 6-3 So. Kanayo Obi-Rapu, 6-8 Sr. Lotanna Nwogbo, 5-10 Sr. Tra’Vaughn White, and 6-2 Jr. Darrion Allen.
South Carolina State defeated Longwood by a score of 83-77. South Carolina State shot 49.2% from the field including seven of 17 from the three point line. The Bulldogs connected on 18 of 25 free throws, pulled down 28 rebounds, and scored 20 points off 14 Longwood turnovers. Longwood shot 47.3% from the field including six of 16 from beyond the arc. The Lancers connected on 19 of 25 free throws, pulled down 36 rebounds, and scored five points off seven South Carolina State turnovers.
Gabriel McCray led South Carolina State with 23 points and seven rebounds. Ed Stephens added 12 points including three three point baskets. Greg Mortimer chipped in with 10 points.
Lotanna Nwogbo led Longwood with 27 points including 13 of 18 free throws and pulled down 15 rebounds. Khris Lane added 12 points and Kanayo Obi-Rapu chipped in with 11 points. Darrion Allen recorded nine points, five rebounds, and five assists.
