Paul Dunbar coach Justin Yeary started the following lineup: 6-2 So. Jamal Adu Peasah, 6-1 Jr. Zach Herrin, 6-4 Sr. Sean Lamanna, 5-10 Sr. Clay Coyle, and 5-11 So. William Gary. Lexington Catholic coach Brandon Salsman countered with 6-5 Sr. Taylor Martin, 6-4 Sr. Scott Schuette, 6-5 Jr. Craig Floyd, 5-10 Jr. Bryan Woomer, and 6-0 Sr. Seth Beckham.
Lexington Catholic raced out to a 30-7 in the first quarter and was never challenged in an 88-45 victory. The Knights’ pressure defense resulted in 44 points off 32 Dunbar turnovers. Lexington Catholic’s starters played from 12:33 to 24:33 minutes with 12 players logging minutes with 11 entering the scoring column. Lexington Catholic held a 34-13 advantage in bench scoring.
Lexington Catholic shot 47.4% from the field including eight of 24 from the three point line. The Knights connected on six of seven free throws, pulled down 41 rebounds, and scored 44 points off 32 Dunbar turnovers. Dunbar shot 39% from the field including three of nine from beyond the arc. The Bulldogs connected on 10 of 20 free throws, pulled down 30 rebounds, and scored eight points off 12 Lexington Catholic turnovers.
Taylor Martin led a balanced Lexington Catholic scoring attack with 15 points, four rebounds, six assists, and four steals. Craig Floyd added 13 points. Bryan Woomer recorded 12 points, five rebounds, and six assists and Seth Beckham chipped in with 12 points, four rebounds, and seven steals. 5-8 So. Dillon Avare added nine points on three three point baskets. 5-11 Sr. William Talbott scored eight points tonight.
Sean Lamanna led Dunbar with 12 points. William Gary added 10 points. 6-3 Sr. Lamont Johnson recorded nine points and eight rebounds.
