Scott County (1-0) at Boone County (1-0) September 4th
Topic: Football

Scott County averaged 7.6 yards per carry on 50 rushing attempts and converted on seven of 12 third down plays in a 30-14 victory over Boone County.  Scott County recorded 18 first downs and 402 yards of total offense.  The Cardinals were penalized three times for 20 yards, lost a fumble and had one pass intercepted.  Boone County recorded 13 first downs and 287 yrda of total offense.  The Rebels were penalized two times for 17 yards and had two passes intercepted.

Josh Walls led Scott County's ground game with a98 yards and an 82 yard TD run on 16 carries.  Brooks Barber carried the ball 20 times for 161 yards and two TDs.  Tevin Buffin completed two of five passes for 52 yards and a TD with one interception.  James Happy caught one pass for 32 yards.  Danny Arnold added a reception for 20 yards for a TD.  Cody Hudson led the defense with seven solo and four assisted tackles.  Blake Sears added four solo and seven assisted tackles.

Charles Quainoo led the Boone County ground attack with 181 yards on 26 carries.  Nate Alford carried the ball four times for 56 yards and a TD.  Alford completed five of 13 passes for 76 yards and a TD with two interceptions.  Jordan Oppenheimer caught two passes for 35 yards and a TD.  Jake Deason led the defense with seven solo and four assisted tackles with 2.5 of the tackles resulting in losses totalling four yards.  Adam Sunderhaus added two solo and six assisted tackles.

Tates Creek at Bryan Station September 4th

Bryan Station improves their record to 3-0 with a 35-18 victory over Tates Creek (1-2) despite being penalized 14 times for 172 yards.  Bryan Station RB Tevin McCaden continued his blistering early season pace as he scored five touchdowns to bring his season total to 14 touchdowns.  McCaden has now run for 721 yards and has the luxury of running behind a huge offensive line that includes 6-2 265 Sr. Andrew Marsh, 6-5 301 Sr. Kalib Ball, 6-6 275 Jr. Darrian Miller, 6-1 300 Jr. Tae Green, 6-21/2 295 Sr. Royce Hawkins, and 5-11 240 So. Brandon Turnley.

Bryan Station recorded 14 first downs and 307 yards of total offense.  The Defenders were  penalized 14 times for 172 yards, lost a fumble, and had a pass intercepted.  Tates Creek recorded 16 first downs and 252 yards of total offense.  The Commodores were penalized seven times for 71 yards and lost two fumbles.

Tevin McCaden led Bryan Station's ground game with 224 yards and five touchdowns on 24 carries.  Brady Boling completed three of 13 passes for 28 yards with one interception.  Jaron Mock caught one pass for 14 yards.  Kris Bolton led the defense with four solo and three assisted tackles.  Nahee Calderon added three solo and four assisted tackles.

Jontez Jones led Tates Creek's ground game with 64 yards on 17 carries.  Brandon Shrout added 50 yards and a TD on five carries.  Dee Christopher completed 22 of 33 passes for 158 yards and two TDs.  LaRobert Bett caught seven passes for 57 yards and a TD.  Jontez Jones added five receptions for 16 yards.  Aaron Mullins led the defense with five solo and one assisted tackle.  Kalin Poe added three solo and one assisted tackle.  Jon. Meadors also recorded three solo and one assisted tackle.

Week Three In Review September 4-5, 2009

Friday September 4th

Bryan Station 35  Tates Creek 18 - Bryan Station RB Tevin McCaden carried the ball 24 times for 224 yards and scored on runs of 5, 25, 4, 11, and 63 yards to lead the Defenders to victory.

Scott County 30  Boone County 14 - Josh Walls led Scott County's ground attack with 198 yards and a TD on 16 carries and Brooks Barber added 161 yards and two TDs on 20 carries.  Charles Quainoo led Boone County with 181 yards on 26 carries.

St. Xavier 49  Lexington Catholic 6 - The visitors from the 'ville held a 456-204 advantage in total yardage in a big win over Lexington Catholic.

Henry Clay 42  Southwestern 7 - The Blue Devils rolled up 511 yards of total offense in tonight's victory.  QB Jerry Williams completed 17 of 29 passes for 169 yards and three TDs and carried the ball eight times for 141 yards including a 66 yard TD run.

Lafayette 28  Mercer County 7 - Brett Durbin threw for two TDs to lead the Generals to victory.

Prestonsburg 26  Breathitt County 25 - Prestonsburg rallied from a 25-7 third quarter deficit to defeat Breathitt County.  Mike Burchett scored two TDs on runs of 15 and 8 yards and threw TD passes of 8 and 25 yards to lead the victors.

Lexington Christian Academy 57  Lynn Camp 14 - Dominique Hayden scored on runs of 6, 25, 56, and 53 yards to lead the Eagles to victory.  LCA exploded out of the gates for 50 first quarter points.

Paul Dunbar 24  Woodford County 17 - Dunbar trailed 17-7 in the third quarter before rallying for their first win of the season.  QB Trent Martin threw for two TDs and ran for another TD to lead the Bulldogs.

Simon Kenton 49  Dixie Heights 28 - Simon Kenton RB Miles Simpson scored on runs of 26, 28, 55, 1, and 3 yards to lead the Pioneers to victory.

Shelby County 42  North Hardin 18 - North Hardin took a 12-0 lead in the first quarter but the Rockets outscored North Hardin 42-6 the rest of the game.  Shelby County QB Brandon Cresap threw TD passes of 11, 12, 6, and 23 yards to lead the victors.

Week Two In Review August 28-29, 2009

Friday August 28th

Tates Creek 41 Mercer County 36 (iHigh Football Frenzy)  - Tates Creek rallied for a 41-36 victory over Mercer County after surrendering a 29-7 third quarter lead.  Mercer County scored 29 consecutive points to take a 36-29 lead late in the game.  Tates Creek's Damon Boggs scored on an 87 yard  kickoff return and the Commodores recovered an onside kick which led to the winning TD, an 11 yard TD run by Brandon Shrout.

Bryan Station 38 Shelby County 26 (iHigh Football Frenzy) - Tevin McCaden led Bryan Station tonight with 263 yards and four touchdowns on 36 carries.

Lexington Christian Academy 28 Christ Presbyterian Academy (TN) 27 - LCA led 28-6 but had to survive an attempt for a two point conversion in the closing seconds to secure the victory.  LCA RB Domonique Hayden gained 172 yards and scored a TD on 17 carries.

Scott County 38 Clay County 6 - Marcus Hill carried the ball five times for 117 yards and a TD.

Sheldon Clark 6 Breathitt County 0 - Sheldon Clark held Channing Fugate and the high powered Breathitt County offense scoreless to notch the victory.

East Jessamine 34 Lincoln County 12 - Seth Hunt led the Jaguars with TD runs of 21, one, and one yards.

Bourbon County 41 Estill County 6 - Taylor Barnes ran for 248 yards including TD runs of 64, 24, and 35 yards.  Barnes also had TD runs of 76 and 54 yards called back for penalties.

Anderson County 43 Meade County 34 - Dusty Combs ran for a two yard TD, caught two TD passes of six and 29 yards, and added another TD on a 97 yard kickoff return to lead Anderson County to a win.

Boone County  31  Lafayette  23 (iHigh Football Frenzy) - Charles Quainoo led Boone County with 101 yards and three TDs on 32 carries.  Jordan Oppenheimer added 97 yards on 10 carries.

Butler  34  Paul L. Dunbar  14 (iHigh Football Frenzy) - DeAngelo Thomas led Butler tonight with 169 yards and three TDs on 23 carries.

Woodford County  28  Western Hills  22 (Bluegrass Bowl) - Stan Serdyuk caught four passes for 128 yards with TD receptions of 28 and 82 yards to lead Woodford County to victory.

Lexington Catholic  23  Covington Catholic  17 (Bluegrass Bowl) - Greg Raglin led Lexington Catholic with 125 yards including TD runs of 52 and four yards on 20 carries.  RB Leo Schaffer had a big night for Covington Catholic with 138 yards and a TD on 13 carries.

John Hardin  41  Madison Central  17  -  Landon Savoy ran for 153 yards and two TDs and added a TD and 65 yards on two receptions to lead John Hardin.

2010 Central Bank Basketball Classic (Boys)

This event will be held January 9, 2010 at Lexington Christian Academy in Lexington Kentucky and offers a terrific trio of games.

8:00  PM  Findlay Prep  vs.  Mt. State Academy

2009 Republic Bank Holiday Classic (Girls)

Lexington Catholic hosts one of the best girls' tournament around in December at Lexington Catholic High School.  David Gadberry of Lexington Catholic sent me a list of teams expected to participate this year and the field is very strong.  I will give exact dates and pairings at a later date.

The teams entered ar as follows:  Assumption, Ballard, Betsy Layne, Bowling Green, Breathitt County, Bullitt East, Christian Academy of Louisville, Clay County, Community School of Naples, Conner, DuPont Manual, Elizabethtown, Grayson County, Harlan County, Highlands, Lexington Catholic, Lincoln County, Madisonville North Hopkins, Marion County, Mercy Academy, Montgomery County,  Nelson County, Newport Central Catholic, North Hardin, Owensboro Catholic, Rowan County, Ryle, Sacred Heart Academy, South Laurel, St. Joseph Central Catholic, Wayne County, and Webster County.

I will update this blog later and add details about some of the outstanding talent scheduled to participate.  I would strongly advise college coaches put this event on their calendar as the field is loaded with talent from seniors expected to be strong contenders for the coveted Miss Basketball award to some outstanding young talent.
