Tennessee State University coach Brian “Penny” Collins started the following lineup: 6-9 GS Wesley Harris, 6-7 Jr. Shakem Johnson, 6-9 Sr. Jy’Lan Washington, 5-10 Sr. Michael Littlejohn, and 6-6 So. Carlos Marshall Jr. Eastern Kentucky University coach AW Hamilton countered with 6-7 Fr. Michael Moreno, 6-3 Sr. Ty Taylor, 6-8 Sr. Tre King, 6-0 Jr. Russhard Cruickshank, and 6-2 So. Jomaru Brown.

 

Eastern Kentucky raced out to an early 33-3 lead on their way to an 83-62 victory over Tennessee State.  Eastern Kentucky shot 49.2% from the field including six of 21 from the three point line.  The Colonels connected on 13 of 16 free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored 25 points off 22 Tennessee State turnovers.  Tennessee State shot 45.1% from the field including nine of 23 from beyond the arc.  The Tigers connected on seven of 14 free throws, pulled down 33 rebounds, and scored six points off 10 Eastern Kentucky turnovers.

 

Ty Taylor led Eastern Kentucky with 22 points including three three point baskets, seven of seven free throws, and five rebounds.  Tre King added 17 points and seven rebounds.  Jomaru Brown recorded 16 points, four rebounds, four assists, and six steals.  6-2 Jr. JacQuess Hobbs chipped in with 11 points and four rebounds.  Michael Moreno added six points, five rebounds, five assists, and two steals.

 

Wesley Harris led Tennessee State with18 points including three three point baskets, seven rebounds, and two steals.  Shakem Johnson added 10 points and 10 rebounds.  5-10 Fr. Mark Freeman recorded 10 points including two three point baskets and nine assists.  Carlos Marshall Jr. chipped in with nine points including two three point baskets and three rebounds.
