Scott County at Ballard
Ballard raced out to a 43-28 lead during the second quarter and held on down the stretch to defeat Scott County by a score of 84-81 in an early season test between two traditional state roundball powers. Ballard was hot from the three point line in the first half as they were nine of 19 from behind the arc at the intermission.
Ballard shot 46.3% from the field including 10 of 28 from the three point line. The Bruins connected on 12 of 23 from the free throw line, pulled down 42 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 16 Scott County turnovers. Ballard also held a 30-4 advantage in bench points. Scott County shot 41.3% from the field including five of 14 from beyond the arc. The Cardinals connected on 24 of 36 free throws, pulled down 44 rebounds, and scored 27 points off 19 Ballard turnovers.
Ian Chiles led Ballard with 21 points including four three point field goals. Chiles also pulled down 11 rebounds and dished out five assists. Tyrell Means dominated late in the game and scored 14 points. Keisten Jones and Devante Parker recorded 12 and 11 points respectively.
Ge-Lawn Guyn led Scott County with 22 points and six rebounds. Chad Jackson added 20 points, eight rebounds, and seven steals. Dakotah Euton added 14 points and 10 rebounds. Tamron Manning and Austin Flannery added 11 and 10 points respectively.
