YPW ALUMNI RETURN:
YPW graduates Stephanie Templin and Joe Harrington return to lend their valuable talents to this seasons' productions of ANNIE, NO NO NANETTE and THE APPLE TREE.

Perhaps you remember this dynamic duo in YPW's Spring 2000 production of WEST SIDE STORY as Tony and Anita. Or, perhaps your recall Harrington as the invincible Lancelot in Lerner & Lowe's CAMELOT; who could forget Stephanie Templin's portrayal of Sondheim's Witch in the YPW hit INTO THE WOODS? Since graduating from YPW only a year ago they've both gone on to great successes and YPW couldn't be luckier to have them on hand once again.

Templin will be filling in for Tara Keohane, as a Principal Dancer in NO NO NANETTE. [Keohane recently injured her knee and will only fulfill her role in THE APPLE TREE but had to withdraw from the ensembles of NANETTE and ANNIE because of the strenous dancing. Erika Klicks will takeover Keohane's supporting role in ANNIE.] Stephanie is a seasoned professional having danced in over 45 YPW productions not to mention the 5 productions at County College of Morris where she is currently seeking an Associates Degree in Drama/Acting on a Performing Arts Scholarship. Ms. Templin also appeared in Moliere's French farce, "The Would-Be Gentleman" directed by Jake Berger, of the New Jersey Skahespeare Festival. Welcome back Steph and thanks!

Joe will be acting as Company Manager over-seeing Tech week and final performances of all productions this season. Joe has recently returned from appearing in the National Tour of Neil Simon's and Marvin Hamlisch's "They're Playing Our Song". After auditioning and winning the role in the production starring Erin (Happy Days) Moran, Harrington decided to take a semester off from Emerson, appear in the tour and return to Boston in the Fall. Lucky for us, he's available and willing to offer his professional assistance. I'm sure he'll see to it that the work gets back in the workshop! Welcome aboard, Joe and thanks!

**It's also been rumored that YPW Alumnus FALLON MAGGIO - of "Cinderella" fame will also be on hand to assist with Make-up and anything else needed - Remember Fallon as the crazy Stepsister in CINDERELLA? Who could forget one of the funniest performances to ever grace the YPW stage! Hope the rumor is ture Fallon, and that we'll be seeing you during performance weeks! Thanks!

JUSTIN BOCCITTO, YPW alumnus and recent graduate of Broadway's Circle-in-the-Square Theatre school in New York City will be on hand performance week this session conducting theatre workshops. Area school children attending the School Matinee performances of THE APPLE TREE will attend the special workshops prior to seeing the production. Welcome back, Justin!

THANKS VIPs!

We'd like to extend a special thanks to all of the many YPW VIPs (Very Involved Parents) for their contributions to this season's shows.

Bruce and Ann Perry along with Wendy Zuzzi are creating this season's sets - not an easy task with such varried productions as ANNIE, NANETTE and THE APPLE TREE.

Paul Gregorio is once again serving as Production Stage Manager and as designed the sound and will be running audio for all shows. Along with Associate Program Director, Alisa Schiff, Gregorio will be running the light board as well.

The season's playbill is being provided and designed by the Kotch clan and Brenda Lightcap once again provides her usual excellent costume creations. Spurlock with his former career as a Make-up Artist will be providing some teriffic make-up techinques and FX for ANNIE....wait till you see! Like always, Linda Abromitis will be running odd errands and doing last minute favors as requested. Thanks Parents we couldn't do it with out you!

DAVID BELASCO listens to EUGENE WALKER read a New Play

Photo Byron © 1916

This new play was not accepted here, although one of the most successful Belasco ventures was Walter's "The Easiest Way." Walter did not give up, but like every other successful worder in the American theatre, tried again. The steadfastness of purpose is the true spirit of the American theatre. It brings about its achievements, and its failures too, for when the purpose is mistaken, it frequently amounts to no more than stubborn persistence. But, when the worker is happily free from the conceit that his art holds no more ramifications for him to explore, it tides him over obstacles to a mental and physical freedom that redounds to honor of the nation.

Below, the switchboard backstage at the BELASCO THEATRE, NYC, circa 1916. Showing also proscenium lights & their operators who "spot" actors and follow them about the stage.
