CHOREOGRAPHY

For serious dance students who are interested in both the proatical and theoretical aspects of Choreography, the art of creating dances. The offering covers many aspects of the art from fundamental techniques to more sophisticated artistic concerns. The class is centered around the what and the how of choreography; touching on time, space, and force. Elements of form and structure in dance composition are highlighted through the study of form, style, abstraction, and improvisation. The basics of music as it relates to dance are covered through the investigation of thythm and musical phrasing. A class rich in challenges for the young choreographer to explore new direction in movement and how it relates to musical theatre. (Elective, 2 hrs.)
