Interest Surveys Go to the following web sites and complete
each interest survey. Be sure to print your results. (hint: you can click on
these sites from right here and it will take you there.)
Comprehensive Worksheet Activity This form is to be completed and turned in before Friday January 10th. You will not be docked for late work on this one until after Friday. Use the OOH website (see above) to complete it. Hand it in for a grade. Then use this form to help guide you as you prepare your research paper.
Research Paper You are to write a research paper as per the guidelines given to you by your instructor. You may write and re-write this paper as many times as you wish. I will be happy to edit your paper any time before the second-to-last day of the block. On that day I will only give a final grade for the research paper. I you wait until then to hand it in for the first time, you will get whatever grade you get. There are no "do-overs" on the second-to-last day. After you have corrected all errors and printed a final copy, put it in your portfolio. The copy you put in the portfolio must be free from errors or it will not count for being in your portfolio. Job-Leads Packet Complete the Job Leads packet (blue). You need to find 5 job leads. You are to use the sources listed on the handout. Notice there are six of them. You can choose any 5 you want to use. You can use each only once! This is due in your portfolio at the end of the block. REMEMBER: Don't leave this until the last minute!! Job Application Form You are expected to complete a job application form provided by your teacher in pencil. Then you will take this copy and type another copy of this application. When it is typed and free from errors, put it in your portfolio. You may use the typewriter in the classroom or one you have at home. Letters of Recommendation Before the end of the block, you are to contact two people who you know well and ask them to write a letter of recommendation for you. These letters of recommendation should be in your portfolio behind the Career Development Package tab. These people should be someone of some importance such as a principal, a supervisor at work, a coach, or a clergyman, not someone who is just a friend. Letter of Introduction Follow the handout for your portfolio. (The gray sheet, remember?) Use the letter you will find there as a guide to write your own letter of introduction. This needs to be in the very from of your portfolio (in front of the Table of Contents) when you hand it in at the end of the block. You must have this proofread and edited before you put it in. It needs to be perfect or it will not count! Resignation Letter You are to write a resignation letter to your current employer (the one you did the mock interview with). You have been employed there for the summer and now it is time for you to move on to college in another town. The letter should contain the following:
You will find a sample resignation letter on page 137 in your textbook. The letter should be the same style as all of the previous letters. You will put this letter in your portfolio only after it is error free. Binder Cover You need to create a cover for your Portfolio. You can use MS Word to do this. You can include pictures and word art if you would like. Be sure to make it look professional and include your own creativity. Relax, no more assignments here!!
