Lesson 1: Learning About
Work
After reading this chapter you should be able to:

Discuss reasons why people work.

Define what is meant by the terms work,
occupation, and job.

Name three types of work experience
education.

Explain the role of a related class as part
of a cooperative vocational education or work-study program.

Identify the benefits of work experience
education.
Lesson 1 Assigned Tasks:
1. Read Chapter 1 pages 4 – 14
2. Activity:
Write a short statement (a paragraph or so) about what you hope to gain from
being in a work experience program. Then examine a copy of the
training agreement used by
this school. Discuss the purpose and requirements of the agreement. Make sure
you ask questions about any part that you don't understand. E-mail your paper to me. Check out the
writing rubric to see how you will be graded.
3. Answer questions #1-10 on page
15
You will need to type this assignment, save it, then attach
it to an e-mail and send it to me.
Answers must be in complete sentences and should be almost
word-for-word from the book.
