Lesson 2: The Job Ahead
After reading this chapter you should be able to:

Explain what is meant by a work history.

Discuss how different work histories can
lead to a stable job.

List characteristics of stable jobs.

Identify what you can do to shape your own
career.
Lesson 2 Assigned Tasks:
1. Read Chapter 2 pages 17 – 24
2. Answer questions #1-8 on page 25
You will need to type this assignment, save it, then attach it to an e-mail and
send it to me.
Answers must be in complete sentences and should be almost
word-for-word from the book.
This is how I know you have read the chapter.
3. Activity:
Ask a parent or other adult to list all the jobs he or she
has held. Note how the work histories
may be influenced by things such as illnesses, accidents, economic hard times,
wars, and so on. Type a paper for this activity explaining your findings and
conclusions about the work histories. Then e-mail it to me. Check out the
writing rubric to see how you will
be graded.
4. Activity:
Download the
Activity 2.3 Controlling Your Career. Answer the questions in complete
sentences. E-mail it back to me. I will use the writing rubric to grade this
assignment.
5. Journal Entries:
