Why I'm a Last Minute Kind of Person

Carley and I are going camping tomorrow for four days. She had made all the plans, is briging about 93% of the necessities, is driving, and has asked me to do nothing more than pack. And I have managed to screw it up.

We are going for four days. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday. I've packed enough clothing for four days, plus something warm just in case we get nailed by whatever hurricane is currently ploughing Florida.

Now, the only problem with this otherwise bulletproof packing plan is that, being the fashion icon that I am, I do intend to wear clothes to the campground, thus leaving me with one extra ensemble which will wind up being unnecessary.

On a side note, I am sure I will forget one toiletry item. Probably Q-tips, but, luckily, I will have plenty of clothes at my disposal.

Original Screenplay

Red Eye

StayFlightplanThe FogJust Like Heaven

Ben and I went to see Red Eye last weekend, and, while the movie was pretty good, the real entertainment came before the movie. We saw previews for the above four movies (plus another one called Into the Blue which looks like utter shite). The plots of these movies?

Stay - Ewan McGregor or Ryan Gosling (not sure which one) can see the future and people's deaths
Flightplan - Jodie Foster's daughter disappears on a plane, and, it turns out, she (the daughter) actually died six days earlier
The Fog - A deadly fog rolls into town and, from the looks of it, it contains dead people
Just Like Heaven - Reese Witherspoon dies in a freak accident, but doesn't realize she's dead (à la Bruce Willis), so she continues to live in her apartment, essentially haunting Mark Ruffalo

What, did you guys all show up at the same party?

Fifth paragraph, particularly the fourth sentence, but really the entire post is great.

You can't have my shiny thing

I clicked the wrong link the other day, and it took me to my User Profile for my LiveJournal account. I figured, what the hell, while I'm here, let's look around. I haven't checked the thing in a while, so why not?

I have five interests listed (because I'm boring and uncreative, and couldn't really think of anything clever): The Force, Thunderstorms, Obscure Movie References, Incan Matrimonial Headmasks, and...Shiny Things. I like shiny things. I mean, who doesn't? Out of further curiosity, I decided to check how many people were interested in the same things that I am (oh, how I yearn for acceptance). I figured the force and thunderstorms would rank up there pretty high being firstly generic and secondly geeky. I also figured the movie references would rank fairly high. The headmasks thing is a stupid one, but there is one other person with the same thing (and only that one thing).

The shocking thing? Shiny things rank (barely) #2 behind thunderstorms.

Thunderstorms - 472 Users, 273 Communities
Shiny Things - 461 Users, 273 Communities
The Force - 418 Users, 139 Communities
Obscure Movie References - 6 Users, 1 Community
Incan Matrimonial Headmasks - 2 Users

About 50 more people are interested in shiny things than the force. And there are nearly twice as many communities dedicated to the discussion and dissection of shiny thing culture; the shiny thing "scene" if you will. Apparently there are a lot more people batting around balls of tinfoil than trying to move those balls with their minds.

Carley's got pictures of my last trip to Ottawa over the Simcoe Day long weekend posted on her blog. It was a very lovely trip; only one day of blah weather. It was the day we went to the beach, but it was still a lot of fun. A lot of walking, and not a lot of new buskers, but we did learn one very important lesson: Tucker's Marketplace's buffet is $18.99. Remember that kids.

That's gold, Jerry. Gold.

It's been nearly one year since I left Blockbuster, but I'm still renting there like mad. Well, at least that's what they think.

I've maybe rented a dozen things in the last 11 months, since Carley was still there until April, and after that, I've really had no time to watch anything. But I'm still gold!
