There is a long, sunny stretch between the driveway and the property line. Since sunny areas are at a premium, I thought the best use of this area would be a strolling garden lined with big Teas. A line of crepe myrtles and small fruit trees provides a division from the driveway. I am slowly replacing the fruit trees with more crepe myrtles because they are healthier. This area has a terrible problem with voles and all the Teas have been replanted in hardware cloth cages to protect their roots. Many of the perennials have been killed and I am slowly replacing them as well. There are blueberries on the west side of the path, but they are on the shadier end and do not seem to get enough sun to fruit well so they will also be moved and replaced. I am considering Hybrid Musks and am thinking of turning the walk into a tunnel made with 4x4 wood posts with rebar arches between them.
