The Long Lawn Border blooming in May 2007

In the center of the long, circular driveway is a lawn area for play. On the western boundary between the lawn and driveway is the Short Lawn Border. Here are planted Alberic Barbier, Darlow's Enigma, The Fairy, a mystery pink rose, reminiscent of Climbing Caldwell Pink, and New Dawn.

There are columnar hollies standing centinnel in the opening and daylilies, hardy geraniums, clematis, and lavender provide company for the roses.

The Long Lawn Border is on the eastern boundary. In it are planted a second Darlow's Enigma, a dark pink found rose, Nightmoss #1, Ralph Moore's Striped Rugosa, a white found rose, and Souvenir de Philemon Cochet. A variety of perennials compliment the roses. This bed was an ordeal to make because there was quite a bit of large river rocks (now making an edging) and clay soil.
