Physiology: At firs glance, an Elayan appears very simalar to a Human other than a few prosethic differences: pointed ears and iris's of yellow, amber or red. However, looking deeper, Elayans do possess even more, sometimes radical, differences to that of Humans.
On average, Elayans tend to be slightly taller than Humans and also slimmer in figure, averaging about one and a quarter feet across their shoulders. They also possess two more ribs than their human counterparts but their rib cage, as with all their bones, are slightly thinner, making them a little more fragile than Humans but certainly not delicate.
Elayans breath at a slower rate than Humans along with a slower heart beat, but this does not mean than Elayans are any less energetic. Quite the opposite as their digestive tract is far more efficient meaning Elayans rarely grow fat and can be over abundant with energy when compared to Humans.
Elayans also lack the fine covering of hair that Humans have, with all hair growing from the scalp, if it grows at all (many Elayans, both male and female, are bald) and Males lack the facial hair that Human males have. However, long hair can be seen as a sign of attractiveness to an Elayan and those who are unable to grow hair will often get folical implants to make up for this. All of this means though that Elayans tend to feel the cold far more Humans but are more comfortable in warmer extremes. If they do grow natural hair, it tends be usually a mid brown to black in colour, blondes being rare and red hair unheard off.
Like Humans, their skin colour varies from white to black via a combination of genetics and enviroment. Elayans also possess an eery sense of balance, their inner ear being far more efficient than that of a Humans. It takes quite a bit to get an Elayan dizzy.
Elayans reproduce in the same manner as Humans through sexual intercourse, but pregnancy lasts about 18 months instead of 9. Elayans give birth to one child at a time and twins are extrememly rare. The child is always born completely bald and if the child does develop any hair, it's not normally until they are around 10-20 sols of age. Elayan children take around 30-36 sols to mature, twice that of a Human.
Elayans also tend to live a lot longer than a Human, arond 150 sols naturally though some have been known to reach upto 250 sols of age. Unlike Humans, their hair does no turn grey with age but instead is much more likely to fall out and their skin does not wrinkle. Older Elayans tend to have less energy, even when compared to Humans who have reached old age.
Females and Males tend to be off the same build, but females are usually shorter and like Human Females, develop quicker than the male gender. Both sexes tend to be calm and cool heade but if pushed fair enough, both can possess firey tempers. Females do not suffer from PMT and their period (that occurs once every 35 terradays in their gestation cycle) rarely lasts more than six hours.
Elayans tend to learn new things slower than Humans, but have a far more efficient memory, their short term memories being able to hold twice the capacity of that of a Human. They are incredibly intelligent and the eldest of the race can have IQ's that exceed that of the most intelligent Humans.
Though like Humans, Elayans are rarely psychic, there is one unique condition in the Elayan race that is tied to their psychic sides and their hormonal systems by the name of Biel-Tal. Biel-Tal can strike the race at any time and does not follow any logical pattern, with it occuring between a couple of months apart upto a couple of decades apart. When it occurs, it last anywhere between 18-34 hours and the whole race, no matter where they are, are effected at once.
Females are effected the most deeply, with their sexual lust and desire going off the scale combined with an indescibable craving for blood, pain and violence. Males are not so deeply effected, but can feel their lust and desire rise while their pain tolerance and levels of energy also increase sharply. To an outsider, it appears as though the Elayan race is playing one big sex game, with the females chasing the males. The truth is that for the Elayan, it is an incredibly stimulating time in which they can let go of the animal inside of them and go wild.
About one in a thousand Elayans are uneffected by the Biel-Tal while one in five thousand can find themselves locked into a permanant state of Biel-Tal which is known as Mal-Tal. Mal-Tal females are often housed in special facilties are guarded by extremely strong willed persons known as Mal-Tal guardians. If by the end of Biel-Tal, a female goes unfulfilled, then it can lead to a period of self-loathing and depression known as Biel-Norc which can sometimes end in suicide if not treated carefully. There are also Biel-Tal inhibitor drugs on the market that many Elayans use to prevent disruption to their daily lifes when Biel-Tal strikes, but it does tend to leave them in a slightly depressive state for a short while.
Elayan organs are simalar to Humans in many respects and can be easily replaced with artificially constructed organs.
History: Elayans have had a long shared history with Humans. However, what is known is that Elayan didn't always know the Human race and before that time, Elayans originated from another galaxy altogether than that of Humans, though where this galaxy is or what led them to meet Humans is unknown. However, since the beggining of C69 colonisations, the two races have shared a joint history that is very closely interlinked.
Some believe the unique relationship between the Humans and Elayans is due to the two races simalarities. Only in a few cases does two races, even those that can interbreed, share such simalarities as these two do. Elayans, like Humans, are just as responsible for the evil deeds in the galaxy's history as they are with deeds of kindness.
Elayans within the Nations:
Cyran Dor: Many Mal-Tal females end up making their way to Cyran Dor, for being the aggressive nation that it is, Cyran Dor has found that it can train Mal-Tal females into becoming fantastic warriors. Watched over by specially trained Mal-Tal guardians, only a hand full of Elayans in Cyran Dor do anything not associated with maintaining the Mal-Tal regiments in the nation. It is suspected as well that the high proportion of Mal-Tal females in Cyran Dor is also due to the nation learning a way to artificially lock an female into Mal-Tal and if this is true, than the implications are astronomical.
Delta Feareo: Co-existing peacefully with the other races of Delta Feareo, the Elayans are the wisdom and the sense where there otherwise would be none. When times of trouble have struck the nation, it is often the Elayans who work out and show the way forward for the nation to travel.
Kyraken: Many Elayans tend to lead peaceful lives in Kyraken, tending farms and seeing to the every day needs of the people of Kyraken. Very few join the military or get involved in scientific or engineering work, but like Humans, those who do have been known to gain a well earned name for themselves.
Lafe: With a deep intellect, Elayans have been the ones to crack many a puzzles in Lafe regarding genetics. Where as Humans tend to be the ones who come up the ideas, it is the Elayan scientists who find the how to.
Planica / Plantia: Like Humans, Elayans make up the bulk of the Planica / Plantia Empire as the people who do the every day work, such as farming or foot solidering, under the ruling of the Mistelareia and Funok. Many are content with this set up, though a few have joined those Humans who wish to change this situation.
Requis: Elayan indulgence and vices can be quite bizarre at times, yet of all the races, it seems that is the Elayans who seem to motivate this nation. For all it's finery and pursuit of pleasure, Requis would not have advanced as far as it has with the Elayans wise touch.
Resbinarge: Like Humans, Elayans were once a part of the nobler classes in the old Resbinarge Empire. Not anymore, for the Elayans are now just as dedicated to the try and rebuild the Empire and turn it into something that can co-exist with it's neighbours peacefully.
Resque: Wisdom and intellect is what the Elayans bring the world of science. Where as Humans have the get up and go attitude, Elayans will hold back and look deeper, finding over avenues from the research to be pursued.
Independant Alliance: Like Humans, Elayans make up one of the major componants to the Independant Alliance. It is perhaps their guidance within this nation that has allowed it to grow so big and yet still retain control.
League of Independance: Making up only a small part of the Leagues population, the Elayans within this nation tend to become wise councillors and advisors, directing the energies of the other larger races from behind the scenes.
Neutrality Alliance: No longer in population than any other race in the Alliance, Elayans of the Neutrality Alliance are greatly respected for being kind and open minded... most of the time.
Independants: There are numerous colonies set up by just pure Elayans and Elayans with other races. The variety and styles varies greatly from independant planet to independant planet.
Elayan Crossbreeds:
Elaman: (Human - Elayan) Humans and Elayans cross breed quite easily, resulting in an Elaman that appears simalar to either one of the parent races but with traits of the other (i.e. looks like a Elayan but has Human coloured iris's for example). Their life spans and rate to mature varies from Elaman to Elaman.
Elareia: (Elayan - Mistelareia) Elayan's can cross breed with the Mistelareia though the result can often be mix. Half the time, the child is born wingless with the rest of their traits mixed from both races (of note, some Elareia can end up looking like spitting images of humans, though their internal make up is normally a lot different) while the other half of the time, the child ends up looking like a winged Elayan (with perhaps one or two other Mistelareia traits). Once again, their life spans and rate to mature can vary dramatically.
Efellyan: (Elayan - Efell) Though like the Huells, this is a rare occurance due to the obscurity of the race, it can and has occured before. The resultant child of such a mix combines the traits of both parents, typically the Elayan statue comes through but they tend to lack any fur, being just of a greenish brown coloured skin, along with either races eye colouration. Efellyan may have both, one or no Efell tails and their feet tend to be a cross between ordinary Elayan feet and ordinary Efell feet.
