Many readers of these papers on medical conditions read only about that condition, or perhaps one other medical condition. They thus have no idea how well this very different astrological method works. To get some idea of that, read some of the many papers on twins on this sites. In traditional astrology, twins are hard to differentiate. This astrology demonstrates the differences in astrology which account for their life differences. Here is a link to one of the twin papers:The Silent Twins. Links to the other twin papers are found in each paper.

In order to show the process involved, in this paper the old material has been retained and is presented first for each subject. The revised material is written in purple and follows the old material. Biographical material is in brown typeface.

INTRODUCTION
Part I of the two papers on Parkinson’s disease contains the discussion of the disease and the story of how I became involved in examining its astrology. This part, Part II, contains only a recapitulation of the significators for Parkinson’s, a brief description of this astrological method, and the astrological findings on twenty-one additional subjects.

The revision has occurred as a result of my continuing learning about how this method works. In the first papers I limited charts I thought significators would occur in to "reasonable" ones. In this revised paper, I have included charts which no longer seem reasonable. Some of them are Center of Gravity (COG) charts, like the 9th. Three individuals in this paper have their Parkinson's signature in that chart. COG charts are discussed much more in Part I of Parkinson's. Here is the link to that paper: Part I, Parkinson's.

Let us get right to the description of the method.

METHOD
Before I present the astrology of Parkinson’s disease, I would like to say a few words about this method :

This astrology uses the sidereal positions of the planets based on the Fagan-Bradley SVP. For my view on the difference between tropical ("Western") astrology and sidereal ("Eastern") astrology, read:
The Sidereal and Tropical Zodiacs: A Discussion
Harmonics are taken from the sidereal position of the planets. The Egyptian harmonic, discussed in the paper “About This Method,” is used.
About This Method
This method uses only conjunctions, applying and separating squares, and oppositions. Planets so related to each other are referred to as “in the same set.” A set, then, is two or more planets (or an Angle) connected to each other through conjunction, square, and opposition within the defined orbs (2nd paragraph below). The set is most active if it contains an Angle or Angle ruler. It is more active if it contains a light and less active without one. Learning to look in terms of “crosses” can be helpful in rapidly finding planets that are in the same set.
”Lights” include suns, moons, and moons nodes. When mercury rules an Angle, especially if it rules two Angles (Gemini and Virgo), it functions both as a light and a planet. For instance, when mercury rules B MC and B Asc and is in the same set with mars and saturn, that constitutes a lighted (by mercury) mars/saturn set with forefront influence (rulership of the two Angles). MC and Asc act similar to lights in the sense they enliven and empower the expression of any planet they are touching, but they are not really lights, and their orb is smaller than regular lights.
All planets in a set are lighted, then, when the set includes an Angle, sun, moon, or nodes, and mercury when it rules at least one Angle.
Orbs for planets in sets with lights is 5°; without lights, about 2.5°. Orb for MC/planet or Asc/planet is 2°. Orb for progressed planet-to-Angle or vice versa is 1° and increases ½° - ¾° when a light is involved. If I could be certain each time of birth was absolutely correct, orbs could be established definitively.
In the paper on gurus I introduce the concept of path when speaking about an astrological set. Planets in a set, the houses they are in, and houses ruled by them describe an astrological path. If, for instance, planets in a set rule 4th, 5th and 9th houses, then the 4th, 5th, and 9th houses are inextricably connected to each other and they describe the planetary path. Energy of learning as well as failure, determined by planets in the set, flows among those three houses. Paths have interesting implications.
Because this approach uses both a birth and conception chart and they share the same axis, birth houses usually overlap different houses of the conception chart. These are called house overlaps. House overlaps play an important part in this astrology. Throughout this paper I use the convention when writing about house overlaps of putting the birth house first, then the conception house. So, for instance, a “5th/1st” overlap refers to an overlap of birth 5th house with conception 1st house in that order. A “9th/3rd” has birth 9th house overlapping conception 3rd house. Birth house/conception house in that order.
“Shell chart” is used to describe birth and conception planets and their houses erected around the same axis before harmonics are added. All twelve harmonic charts are derived from the planets of the shell chart
Birth planets (including their harmonics) rule only birth houses. Conception planets (including their harmonics) rule only conception houses.
Although the harmonic used for each chart is always 2 greater than the number of the chart, for ease in reading I have adopted the convention of writing the harmonic number the same as the chart number. For instance, “b12 mars” represents the harmonic of birth mars for the 12th chart (but the harmonic used to find b12 mars is the 14th).
In abbreviating, I use “b” for birth, “c” for conception, “p” for progressed, and “t” for transiting. A number following them, e.g., “3” or “7,” shows the harmonic chart we are examining. For instance, “b7 pluto” represents the harmonic of birth pluto for the 7th chart. “Pc3 mars” is the harmonic of progressed conception mars for the 3rd chart.
This method uses a solar return that occurs every 40 degrees (exactly) after birth up to death, with nine returns occurring annually.

THE SIGNIFICATORS FOR PARKINSON’S DISEASE
Individuals interested in the process I go through to figure what and where to look for significators for a disease would benefit by reading my paper on Alzheimer’s Disease on this site.

Parkinson’s significators were strongly suggested by the chart of Michael J. Fox, whose chart was the first I looked at for Parkinson’s. After that it was more a process of eliminating the superfluous significators than identifying them. Mercury and mars were the planets I found involved.

In astrology the physical mind, as well as its productions such as verbal ability, language, intelligence, etc., is most represented symbolically by mercury. Planets working with mercury add attributes to mind. Mercury plus mars produces an aggressive, very active mentality. Mercury plus uranus makes a brilliant or innovative, one. Mercury plus neptune, an imaginative, creative one, and so on. Alzheimer’s disease produces progressive limitation by increasingly depriving the individual of personality. The “individual” (his I-ness) dies, but his body keep functioning. Mercury combined with saturn (limitation, deficiency) made great sense.

Parkinson’s disease produces its increasing limitation by starting with motor function variability. At times some muscles function too fast or too slow, producing lack of coordination and oddball timing. Mars (motor, particularly tremors) with mercury (mind) seemed like the best guess.

Fox’s 7th chart showed a set which included mercury and mars with influence to three of his four Angles (two MCs and one Asc) plus 3rd, 7th, 8th, 9th, 11th, and 12th houses.

The early onset—before age 40—of Fox’s disease suggested its astrological significators were prominent in his chart. “Prominent” in this method implies strong forefront, that is, Angular influence. His mercury/mars set is quite prominent because it influences three Angles.

Alzheimer’s significators showed that, in addition to planets, houses influenced by the set, that is, their path, were important. Alzheimer’s mercury/saturn set had to rule or co-rule 3rd (ordinary mind), 4th (end of life), 8th (transformations), and 9th (higher mind). The transformations (8th) that take place in the brain of an Alzheimer’s individual take his life (4th) and in the process cut him off (saturn) from his own mind (3rd, mercury) and even, apparently, his higher Self (9th).

With Parkinson’s disease, the individual is spared his higher mind (9th), and he may, or may not, die (4th) from it. Part of his mind (3rd, mercury) changes radically (8th), its transformations producing the disturbing (mars) motor (mars) dysfunction.

In the first paper I found that path as including an Angle, and the 3rd and 8th houses. When an individual dies of Parkinson’s, then we want influence to a 4th house. Just because the individual has Parkinson’s does not mean they will die from it. Death can be from other diseases, or from suicide, or even from, for instance, an auto accident.

The (minimum) significator set for Parkinson’s, then, was Angle/mercury/mars/3rd/8th with the 4th influence necessary in all deaths from Parkinson’s. Sometimes I found that lacking, but found, apparently in its stead, mercury (there’s the mercury) in Scorpio (which is mars-ruled and correlated with the 8th house) in either 3rd or 8th houses, occasionally both. All these occurred in the 7th chart.

ORDER OF PRESENTATION
The following sequential order is used for each individual:

Number (1) shows the primary set demonstrating Angle/mercury/mars/3rd/8th.
Number (2) points out whether or not each has a 3rd/8th (or 8th/3rd) overlap.
Number (3), In addition to influence of mercury/mars to Angles through their primary set, do they have mercury and/or mars on Angles? I did this count for mercury and saturn on Angles for Alzheimer’s individuals and believed the results significant, so I wanted to do it for Parkinson’s individuals using mercury and mars. For Alzheimer’s I showed only non-harmonic mercury and/or saturn. The Parkinson group includes harmonic as well as sidereal mercury and/or mars to Angles.

When I started, I was only interested in Number (1). As I progressed casting charts, Number (2) was added because Parkinson’s, as a 3rd/8th disease, made the overlap of 3rd/8th houses of interest. Number (3) was added to see if Parkinson’s paralleled Alzheimer’s in showing the occurrence of significator planets—when not part of the main significator set—on Angles. If a high incidence of all three occurred, then, all three would become part of the astrological significators for Parkinson’s disease.

All of the information given for each individual below was taken from notes provided by the data source, Astrodatabank.

THE CHARTS
As mentioned above, with the revision I expanded the number of charts I would look for the significator in. Theoretically, it can occur in any one of the twelve harmonic charts of this method. Any one of them can be a COG chart of the individual. As stated above, Part I contains much more discussion of COG charts. It also gives links to other papers that find significators in COG charts.

PARKINSON’S 5116
This chart was especially interesting because the individual was born at a very high latitude—near the polar circle—66 N 07. Houses in charts of individuals born at extreme northern and southern latitudes are quite eccentric. For instance, for 5116’s birth chart, the sum of the degrees covered by houses 1, 2, 6, and 8 is 300° (out of 360°). Houses 3 and 9 take up 28° total. With house cusps as eccentric as these, we have a big chance of finding a ruler for the 8th house among significators because the 8th house is relatively big—46°. The 3rd house, however, is only 14° long. Still, the significators worked out.

Parkinson’s 5116
His Significator in His Partial Harmonic Chart for His 7th House is Retained

Placidus: c11—2Sco, c12—10Sco, c2—9Sag, c3—24Pis b11—17Sco, b12—22Sco, b2—9Pis, b3—25Ari

(1) Set (1) above shows node/moon/mercury/mercury/mars with influence to C Asc through c mars. C mars also rules c 4th house and co-rules (20 of 26°) c 3rd house. C7 mercury rules c 8th house. B7 mercury rules b 8th house. This set includes all the significators found so far for Parkinson’s disease.

(2) 5116 has no 3rd/8th overlap.

(3) B7 mars, ruler of b 3rd house, is at 19 Cancer 12 made Angular by C MC at 20 Libra 01. There is no mercury/Angle.

Birth was given as 8:00 a.m. MET. We cannot know how rounded off it is, nor what kind of conditions prevailed for birth “near the polar circle.” Birth eighteen minutes earlier would have given yielded C MC at ca. 15.5 Libra in the same set with c mercury at 15 Aries 29. B MC would have been at 4 Scorpio 48 in the same set with b7 mars at 4 Taurus 56. But eighteen minutes is a very large correction.

PRINCE CLAUS von AMSBERG
The following is from the biography in Astrodatabank: German-Dutch aristocrat and consort to Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands. When they married on March 10, 1966, people were shocked because he was a German who had been a young boy in the Hitlerjugend. There were demonstrations and smoke bombs, though he was only 19 when the war ended and had done no more than any teenage boy. As a Dutch citizen he gained respect for his kindness and social consciousness and for organizing aid to the needy. He and Beatrix made a respectable couple as nation rulers; three sons.

Since mid-80s, he has had Parkinson’s, the “stiff” version.”

The prince died on October 6, 2002, reason not stated.

I wouldn’t look for mercury/mars significators in a Parkinson’s disease that was “only” the “stiff” version because the mars part of our significators suggests movement. Saturn is the planet that suggests “stiff.” This was an unwarranted presumption since it concerned the very thing I was investigating, the signature for the stiff-only version. Moreover, I failed to notice that mars was part of the set I selected as a set containing only mercury-saturn. The corrected set is shown as Set (1) below.

As it turns out, the Prince had neither mercury/mars nor mercury/saturn with the right path in his 7th chart. His 3rd chart, however, did. Here is the set:

Prince Claus von Amsberg
His Signature in His Partial Harmonic Chart for His 3rd House is Corrected, but Retained

Placidus: c11—3Lib, c1—22Libr, c2—12Sag, c3—26Cap b11—26Aqu, b12—14Ari, b2—20Gem, b3—6Can

(1) Set (1) above includes mercury/mars/saturn. Since c3 mercury rules C MC, it acts like a planet and a light. C3 mercury also rules c 8th house. C3 saturn rules c 3rd house. So this set contains “lighted” mercury/mars/saturn with influence to an Angle, 3rd and 8th houses. We still have no idea why von Amsberg’s Parkinson’s was stiff-only. It might be connected to the fact that in addition to his Parkinson’s signature, he has Angle/mercury plus Angle/saturn.

On the date of his death he probably did have a forefront 4th influence, it just was not part of his significator set. [Birth to the nearest quarter hour makes only “probably” possible.] It could have been any one of the following three: progressed b moon, ruler of b 4th house, was at 4 Gemini 33 conjunct B Asc at 4 Gemini 19, or pc3 neptune, ruler of c 4th house, was at 28 Cancer 47—birth about eight minutes later would have made B MC around 28 Capricorn. Or he already has a forefront 4th influence through b3 sun, co-ruler (26 of 30°) b 4th house, at 9 Scorpio 03 conjunct C Asc at 7 Scorpio 53 and c sun at 9 Scorpio 49. I don’t really know if the 4th influence has to be in the significator set at death or if it just has to be forefront anywhere in the chart.

(2) The prince has a 3rd/8th overlap with b 3rd house and c 8th.

(3) Yes on both. B MC is at 26 Capricorn 23 and c saturn, ruler of c 3rd house, is at 25 Libra 16. C Asc is at 7 Scorpio 53 and b mercury is at 8 Leo 15. He does not have an Angle/mars.

Using his given time of birth, his progressions for death included: pB MC at 11 Aries 47 and pb3 mercury at 11 Capricorn 32. Progressed b moon at 4 Gemini 33 in the same set with return saturn at 3 Gemini 16, B Asc at 4 Gemini 19, and pb NN at 3 Gemini 55 (coming from 21 Gemini 06 at birth). So far, with these, he has an Angle/mercury and an Angle/node/saturn. He has another mercury set—pc SN at 1 Capricorn 42 in the same set with pc3 mercury, ruler of c 8th and C MC, at 1 Capricorn 14. And the following:

Set (2)b3 neptune7 Leo 41
b mercury8 Leo 15ruler of B Asc
C Asc7 Scorpio 53
b3 sun9 Scorpio 03 co-ruler (26 of 30°) of b 4th house
return3 sun9 Scorpio 03
return3 neptune9 Scorpio 32
pc3 saturn9 Scorpio 37ruler of c 3rd house
c sun9 Scorpio 49
pc3 mars8 Taurus 37

Set (2) above should be seen from the point of view of sets influencing his C Asc at death. Progressions and return planets have been added to it. The spread is a little over 2°, but this set has four lights (the three suns and b mercury) and C Asc also has a 1° (for progressions, otherwise, 2°).

If activity of the chart at the time of death is a function of whether or not it is a significator chart, then we can say that Amsberg’s 3rd chart was meaningfully active at that time and likely is his significator chart for Parkinson’s.

Here is a passing note on the synastry between the Prince and the Queen. He had b7 jupiter (ruler of b 8th house, co-ruler of b 7th) at 22 Sagittarius 05, b7 moon at 25 Sagittarius 43, c venus (ruler of c 7th house) at 27 Sagittarius 02, and c jupiter at 27 Sagittarius 30. Her conception Descendant is at 28 Sagittarius 34. That shows us a compound golden benefic made even better by the fact it involves her Descendant, cusp of important others.

I have written twelve papers on the synastry of twelve couples from the perspective of the venus/jupiter and mars/saturn sets they share. Here is a link to one of them: The Synastry Between Robert and Elizabeth Barrett Browning. Links to the other papers can also be found there.

JACK ANDERSON
From Astrodatabank: American newspaper political reporter since 1947 with hard-hitting exposes of scandal and corruption in high places. Not only was his “Washington Merry-Go-Round syndicated in 746 papers with millions of readers, but he was massively popular on radio and TV broadcasts.

…A Mormon, he married on August 10, 1949. Anderson had nine kids.

From Wikipedia we find that Anderson was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 1986 and died December 17, 2005 from complications of Parkinson’s disease.

Anderson’s chart demonstrates one of those signatures involving mercury in Scorpio that we also saw in Part I. Here it is:

Jack Anderson
His Signature on His Partial Harmonic Chart for the 7th House is Superceded

Placidus: c11—22Tau, c12—24Gem, c2—17Leo, c3—15Vir b11—16Ari, b12—23Tau, b2—16Can, b3—11Leo

(1) B7 mercury in Scorpio, above, is in b 6th house. In the sign Scorpio it suggests a mars connection (mars rules Scorpio) as well as an 8th (Scorpio is natural sign of the 8th house). It rules B Asc and co-rules (11 of 30°) b 3rd house. In an odd but definite way, it covers all the significators We shall see more of these mars in Scorpio.

(2) He has no 3rd/8th overlap.

(3) C MC at 17 Aries 21 is conjunct c7 mercury at 18 Aries 53, ruler of c 3rd house. C Asc at 23 Cancer 21 is in the same set with b7 mars at 22 Aries 15.

I somehow missed putting his birth mars in his chart at all. Once added, it clearly forms a mercury/mars/3rd/8th set in his 7th chart. Here it is:

Jack Anderson
He Has an Additional Signature on His Partial Harmonic Chart for the 7th House

Placidus: c11—22Tau, c12—24Gem, c2—17Leo, c3—15Vir b11—16Ari, b12—23Tau, b2—16Can, b3—11Leo

(1) Set (1a) above includes 2moon/mercury/mars/jupiter—all non-harmonic. C moon rules C Asc. B7 uranus co-rules (11 of 25°) b 8th house. C mercury rules c 3rd house. There is no 4th influence, but he has a forefront 4th ruler in his progressions for death. B Asc is not part of the set, even with two moons—the mercury and mars are too far removed from it.

Forefront mercury/mars also occurs in the charts of litigating lawyers. His conjunct in Sagittarius show Anderson’s sense of moral superiority (strong Sagittarius can also occur in charts of people who are not morally superior, just think they are, like active racists) as well as the astrological foundation for his muckraking.

In his 7th chart on the date of his death, December 17, 2005, Bethesda, Maryland, Anderson had pc7 mars, co-ruler of b 4th house, at 10 Gemini 21 in the same set with B MC at 10 Pisces 58, if a bit early, with his pc saturn at 10 Virgo 06R, which is a bit late. It is hard for an older person to survive a slow secondary progression of saturn to an Angle. His pb7 saturn was at 25 Sagittarius 17, late but in the same set with his B Asc at 24 Gemini 52.

C mercury and b mars in Set (1a) above are close enough that their harmonics hang together in all the lower ones. He still has a (2°) mercury/mars conjunction in his 1st (no 4th influence), 2nd (no 4th influence), 3rd charts (no light). They are still close enough in his 4th (no light), 5th (no 8th influence) and 6th charts (no Angle influence) to be in the same set with a light. His 8th, 10th, and 11th charts also contain mercury/mars, all without an 8th influence. He has a second, legitimate Parkinson’s significator in his 8th chart, and also one in his 12th chart. I decided to show the one in his 7th chart.

At one point in his career, Anderson’s column reached 40 million readers (Wikipedia, September 2011). We would expect his 7th or 10th (or COG) chart to contain a golden benefic. Here it is from his 10th chart:

Set (2a)b10 venus23 Virgo 53
c jupiter24 Virgo 08
c sun22 Sagittarius 25
c10 NN23 Sagittarius 50
B Asc 24 Gemini 52

Since Anderson’s birth time was given as at 10:18 p.m., we expect it is correct, so B Asc is clearly in Set (2a). C sun’s influence on c 2nd house made it possible for Anderson to parlay his verbal skills and aggressive stances into enough money to support his nine children.

(2) He has no 3rd/8th overlap.

(3) It is still: C MC at 17 Aries 21 is conjunct c7 mercury at 18 Aries 53, ruler of c 3rd house. C Asc at 23 Cancer 21 is in the same set with b7 mars at 22 Aries 15.

GIORGIO BASSANI
Mr. Bassani, an Italian writer, poet, and essayist, was best known for his psychological novels, especially “The Garden of the Finzi Contini.

He died April 13, 2000 at age 84 from complications of Parkinson’s (and, I found out later, Alzheimer’s.)

Bassani’s chart presents us with another mercury in Scorpio:

Giorgio Bassani
His Signature in His Partial Harmonic Chart for His 7th House is Superceded

Placidus: c11—24Sag, c12—19Cap, c2—15Ari, c3—13Tau b11—24Tau, b12—28Gem, b2—18Leo, b3—14Vir

(1) Set (1) above shows moon in the same set with b7 mercury in Scorpio. The Scorpio part of it suggests both mars (natural ruler of Scorpio) and the 8th house (natural place for the sign Scorpio). Mercury rules b 3rd house. B moon rules B Asc. Accepting the Scorpio implications, the set is complete for Parkinson’s.

(2) Bassani has no 3rd/8th overlap.

(3) B MC is at 17 Aries 13, b7 mars at 17 Aries 27, and b mars at 18 Cancer 36. C MC at 3 Sagittarius 25 is in the same set with c mercury at 2 Gemini 17.

It took me a while to find this signature because the light, c moon at Virgo 29 Virgo 32, is at the end of that sign. It is not easy to see its relationship to planets in early cardinal signs unless you are looking for them.

Bassani's combination of Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s disease is astrologically interesting. The Parkinson’s signature is standard. The Alzheimer’s one is not. If he had Alzheimer's disease, then the signature shown below as Sets (1b) and (1c) sure look like an alternate to the standard signature. If he did not have Alzheimer's disease, which I think more likely, then he had an astrology that did a good job of mimicking Alzheimer's effects.

Note that his Angles and house cusps have shifted just a bit backward. Using his death and the births of his two children, his chart was rectified to approximately 6 minutes earlier. Its data is given at the bottom of the page right after his data from Astrodatabank.

Giorgio Bassani
His Signature in His Partial Harmonic Chart for His 3rd House is Valid

Placidus: c11—22Sag, c12—17Cap, c2—13Ari, c3—11Tau b11—23Tau, b12—27Gem, b2—17Leo, b3—13Vir

Set (1a) above contains moon/mercury/venus/mars/jupiter/uranus/neptune.

The Angle/moon/mercury/mars/3rd/4th/8th part of it is the Parkinson’s signature, with b3 neptune co-ruling (13 of 26°) b 8th house, b venus ruling b 4th and co-ruling (16 of 33°) b 3rd house, c3 jupiter ruling C MC, and b3 uranus ruling b 8th house—a full signature.
The Angle/moon/mercury/venus/3rd part of Set (1a) is his signature for poetry. He does not have it in either his 7th or 10th charts. He lacks the completing part of the signature—a light in Pisces—but this set contains neptune, the ruler of Pisces.
The Angle/moon/venus/jupiter part of it is one of his two 3rd chart golden benefics. He was regarded as an “international intellectual.” I guess that means products of his intellect were admired by more than the intellectuals in his own country. His other golden benefic is even more powerful because it is on an Angle. It is shown below in (3) where his Angle/mercury and Angle/mars are described.

Sets (1b) and (1c) are his “Alzheimer’s indicators. Set (1b) contains a conjunction of moon to saturn to pluto (the autistic grouping) in Gemini, the natural sign of the 3rd house of “mind.” That conjunction is in c 4th house. He has a second light/saturn/pluto in Set (1c). This time the light is a node—b3 NN. That is another “autistic” set.” It is in Scorpio, the natural sign of the 8th house. It is on the cusp (11 Scorpio) of c 9th house. The saturn in both cases is a conception saturn, ruler of c 12th house. I am not sure of the significance, if any, of the latter. Together, Sets (1b) and (1c) give Bassani lighted saturn/pluto influence to 3rd, 4th, 8th, and 9th houses—the Alzheimer’s houses. If any set could better mimic Alzheimer’s without actually being Alzheimer’s (I am not sure—we would have needed an autopsy verification), these two are it. Influence to an Angle would have made them more powerful. But, already debilitated by his Parkinson’s, these sets didn’t need Angular influence to be powerful.

Sets (1b) and (1c) might also have something do with the fact that Bassani’s novels were considered “psychological.”

Here’s a link to that paper on autism which discusses the expression of lighted saturn/pluto: Paper on Autism.

(2) Bassani does not have a 3rd/8th overlap.

(3) Bassani has both Angle/mercury and Angle/mars in this, his 3rd chart. Here it is:

Set (1d)b3 venus1 Sagittarius 15co-ruler (16 of 33°) of b 3rd house
C MC2 Sagittarius 02
c jupiter 0 Pisces 32ruler of C MC
c mercury 2 Gemini 17 ruler of c 4th house
b3 mars3 Gemini 01Rruler of B MC, co-ruler (23 of 37°) b 4th house

Set (1d) above shows us Bassani’s Angle/mercury/mars. It also shows us his second, powerful 3rd chart golden benefic. His intellectual productions will win him high honors (golden benefic). Intellectual is implied both by the mercury and its influence to a 3rd house, and the fact it occurs in his 3rd chart.

One of his significant progressions for death occurred around progressed B Asc:

Set (1e)pB Asc 2 Libra 13
pc3 moon 1 Capricorn 29
c3 mars 1 Capricorn 52co-ruler (11 of 28°) c 8th house
pc3 saturn3 Capricorn 09 ruler of c 12th house
pb3 sun2 Cancer 27
pc3 venus2 Cancer 42ruler of c 3rd and 8th houses

The two lights—pb3 sun and pc3 moon—around progressed B Asc bring c3 mars and pc3 saturn into a relationship with that Angle, giving Bassani a progressed Angle/mars/saturn with influence to 3rd and 8th houses. Still lacking lighted mars/4th and saturn/4th influences, they are supplied by the following sets: pb mars, ruler of B MC, at 5 Leo 56 in the same set with pc mercury, ruler of c 4th house, at 5 Leo 55 and pc3 sun at 6 Leo 29. Bourke-White was an American photographer, photojournalist, and war correspondent. Her career was so unusual and her courage so great, I recommend readers do an Internet search on her name for stories of her life and some of her photographs.

Bourke-White was stricken with Parkinson’s in 1954 and unable to work by 1957. She died on August 27, 1971, Stamford, CT, cause unstated.

Her significators for Parkinson’s were not in her 7th chart, but in her 6th chart:

Placidus: c11—28Can, c12—27Leo, c2—19Lib, c3—20Sco b11—23Cap, b12—27Aqu, b2—15Tau, b3—7Gem

(1) Set (1) above contains Angle (C MC)/node/sun/mercury/mars. C6 mars rules c 3rd and 8th houses. B6 mercury rules b 3rd house. This set has the full significators for Parkinson’s.

(2) Bourke-White has a 3rd/8th overlap of b 8th house with c 3rd house.

(3) B MC at 28 Sagittarius 01 is in the same set with c6 mars at 26 Pisces 32, ruler of c 3rd and 8th houses. B6 mercury, ruler of b 3rd house, is at 23 Gemini 05 in the same set with C Asc at 21 Virgo 53.

Bourke-White’s significator for Parkinson’s is best represented by planets in her 9th chart, which is also her COG chart. Her 9th makes sense as a COG chart. In pursuing her passion for photography, she traveled all over the world (9th). She was internationally known (9th). It is her 9th chart that contains the golden benefic, shown below, to be expected in the chart of some one whose work was so famous. Further, her 9th chart—not her 7th, and not her 6th—contains the set I would have expected for some one with demonstrated so much “courage.” Her 9th also provides lights (activates) her two uranuses (birth and conception) in c 3rd house, the astrological indication for her innovation and genius in her field. These are discussed more below.

Set (1a) above shows the conjunction of node/mercury/mars/uranus in Virgo. As conception planets, the mars and uranus belong on the outside of the circle, but there wasn’t room. In fact, all the planets in (1a) are conception planets. C mercury rules C MC in b 3rd house and C Asc. C9 mars rules c 3rd and 8th houses. There is no 4th influence, but she has it in her progressed signature for death, shown below.

Lighted mars/uranus is a powerful signature for anything from courage to foolhardiness. Hers in Virgo also influences an Angle, so Set (1a) also symbolizes her lifelong courage.

(2) As mentioned above, she has an overlap of birth 8th with conception 3rd house. Note also she has two 3rd/9th overlaps—seen in the charts of gurus and various spiritually minded individuals. One was David Koresh. With the 3rd/9th overlap the 9th house tends to usurp the 3rd. The individual is inspired but not so good at being practical.

(3) While her 7th chart showed Angle/mercury and Angle/ mars, this, her 9th, shows only an Angle/mercury. B MC at 28 Sagittarius 01 is in the same set with c9 mercury at 28 Gemini 41. This set also impels communication (mercury in Gemini Angular).

I did not number them in the drawing above, but her birth and conception uranuses in c 3rd house are shown above. Each is lighted—the conception one by c9 SN, and the birth one by birth moon in Gemini. B9 jupiter, ruler of B MC in c 4th house, conjunct b moon, co-ruler of b 4th house, is part of the astrology that shows her fame (moon/jupiter) at the end of life (4th). It also helps sell her books as well as her photographs (which are also potent forms of communication, Gemini).

I am not sure what, astrologically, represents “photography.” Certainly Set (1a) was helpful in enabling great discrimination (Virgo) in the photos she took. She has b9 moon at 22 Taurus 02 conjunct b venus at 22 Taurus 47 which might have had something to do with her photography. In Taurus it represents a strong aesthetic (as well as sensual) sense, a sense of form.

Pisces sun on c Descendant shows relationships with males (sun) who are possibly alcoholic, and likely not dependable.

Bourke-White’s 9th chart golden benefic was comprised of the following planets:

Set (2a)c9 sun2 Virgo 59
c venus6 Virgo 26ruler of c 9th house, co-ruler (20 of 31°) c 8th house
b uranus4 Sagittarius 46
b9 jupiter 3 Gemini 06 ruler of B MC and b 9th house
b moon4 Gemini 44ruler of b 5th house, co-ruler (23 of 25°) of b 4th house

Set (2a) above assures her career (MC, an Angle) in 9th house matters (travel, higher viewpoints represented by the photography) will be success. The influence of c venus to c 2 house brings in good money. Note some of the houses influenced—4th , 5th, 9th—are the same as those influenced by golden benefics in charts of gurus and saints. Her just represents a different form of 9th house success, spiritual in its own way.

The set in her 9th chart that showed her death was as follows:

Set (3a)c saturn10 Capricorn 06 co-ruler (28 of 34°) c 4th house
pc saturn10 Capricorn 22ibidem
pb9 mercury 10 Capricorn 13 ruler of b 3rd and 4th houses
pb mars10 Cancer 03 ruler of B Asc and b 8th house

Set (3a) above shows lighted mars/saturn influence to an Angle, 4th, and 8th houses on the date (August 27, 1971) of her death—the necessary but not necessarily sufficient significator for death. Interestingly, it also contains the significator for Parkinson’s—Angle/mercury/mars/3rd/8th plus a 4th influence for end-of-life.

OWEN CHAMBERLAIN
From Astrodatabank: Dr. Chamberlain was an American scientist and winner of the Nobel Prize for physics on October 26, 1959, along with Dr. Emilio Segre, for their detection of the antiproton. He worked on the Manhattan project during WWII.

From Wikipedia: Diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 1985, Chamberlain retired from teaching (U of Cal at Berkeley) in 1989. He died February 28, 2006 of complications of Parkinson’s.

(1) Set (1) above includes moon/mercury/mars in Pisces plus sun/venus/jupiter in Gemini plus venus in Virgo. B sun rules b4th house and co-rules (14 of 26°) 3rd house, b7 jupiter rules b 8th house, and b7 mercury rules B Asc, while c7 moon rules C Asc. This set includes mercury/mars, influences two Angles and 3rd and 8th houses, and thus contains the full set of significators for Parkinson’s..

In his biographical information, Astrodatabank notes that Chamberlain was a “typical boy with only modest aspirations. Owen entered the first grade not knowing how to write his own name [he was the son of a doctor]. He could barely read and write and was not the least bit interested in science. At some point, however, an interest in science emerged…”

The set above also demonstrates his early lack of interest in learning through the Pisces conjunction influencing the 3rd house. His later interest is shown by the conjunction in Gemini, also with influence to a 3rd house. B sun also rules b 4th house, so it was likely he would enjoy high social prestige toward the end of his life. In fact, the set includes a golden benefic all in Gemini—assuring success in matters to do with mind or communication (Gemini). As confirmation of that, his 10th chart contains the following golden benefic consistent with some one who has the social stature of winning the Nobel Prize:

Set (2)c sun14 Virgo 41ruler of c 2nd and 3rd houses
c10 moon13 Pisces 18ruler of C Asc
b10 venus12 Pisces 53
b10 jupiter14 Pisces 30ruler of b 8th house

(2) Chamberlain does not have a 3rd/8th overlap.

(3) C MC at 0 Aries 07 is in the same set with c mercury, co-ruler (30 of 31°) of c 3rd house, at 0 Libra 21. B Asc at 5 Gemini 02 is in the same set with c7 mars at 7 Gemini 10 (also included in that set, b7 and c7 suns at 8 Virgo 07 and c7 saturn at 8 Pisces 27).

MAURICE CLOCHE
Cloche was a film director who, in 1940, founded a film society for young talent which later became the Institute of Advanced Film Studies, France’s distinguished film school.

From Astrodatabank: “In later years, Cloche suffered from Parkinson’s Disease and he died March 20, 1990, Bordeaux, France.

(1) Set (1) above contains Angle/moon/mercury/mars/jupiter. B mercury rules b 3rd house. B mars rules B MC in c 4th house and co-rules b 4th house.. C7 moon rules c 8th house—a complete set.

Reported time of birth was 8:36 a.m. In addition to progressed Angle/mars and Angle/saturn, his 7th chart lighted mars/saturn influence to an Angle and a 4th house showed as pb7 NN at 28 Gemini 47, pc7 mars, ruler of C Asc and co-ruler (20 of 25°) c 4th house, at 28 Sagittarius 09, and transiting (7 a.m. MET, 3/20/90) saturn at 29 Sagittarius 05. He also had mercury and mars on return MC and saturn/node on return Ascendant.

(2) Cloche has a 3rd/8th overlap between b 8th and c 3rd houses.

(3) C MC in Set (1) above is also in the same set with mercury and mars.

WILLIAM OLIVER EVERSON
Everson was an American Roman Catholic priest, a Dominican, and a poet, raised by Christian Science parents. He was also known as Brother Antoninus. He left the Dominicans in 1969 to embrace a growing sexual awakening. He received a Guggenheim Fellowship for poetry.

According to Wikipedia, Everson was stricken by Parkinson’s disease in 1972 and its effects on him became a powerful element in his public readings. He died in 1994.

(1) Set (1) above includes B Asc/mercury/venus/mars/uranus/pluto. C venus rules c 3rd, 4th, and 8th houses. C7 mars rules C MC in b 3rd house. This set therefore shows mercury/mars/3rd/8th with influence to one, possibly two Angles (B MC being the second one, with B Asc and b7 mercury, ruler of both B Angles, acting as lights to increase orb).

Set (1) also shows his interest in poetry. It significator is Angle/light/mercury/venus with influence to a 3rd house (shows intellectual interest) and a light in Pisces. Set (1) does not contain a light, but the it is Angular so is “lighted.” Influence to an Angle means being known as a poet, probably published. Everson has c moon at 5 Pisces 07, b7 and c7 suns at 6 Pisces 26—plenty of Pisces lights!!

(2) Everson has a 3rd/8th overlap between b 8th and c 3rd houses.

(3) As shown in (1) above, B Asc is in the same set with mercury and mars.

DOUGLAS FAIRBANKS, JR.
Fairbanks, like his father, was a film actor, who was also an Anglophile. Fairbanks worked with the English during WWII. He was knighted by King George VI in 1949 for “furthering Anglo-American amity.”

An indication of how he felt about his life comes from his statement, “I’ve led an enormously lucky life (said in 1989). I’ve done what I wanted to do. I worked hard and played hard and it was all tremendously rewarding. I just wish it could go on and on.”

Fairbanks died of Parkinson’s disease on May 7, 1990, at the age of 90.

One of his more quotable quotes was: “I never tried to emulate my father. Anyone trying to do that would be a second-rate carbon copy.”

Fairbanks’ chart presents us with another of those abbreviated signatures effected through mercury in Scorpio:

Douglas Fairbanks, Jr.

(1) The partial chart above shows mercury in Scorpio conjunct B Asc. It rules B MC. The sign Scorpio is ruled by mars and the natural ruler of the 8th house. The conjunction is in b 3rd house. This set includes all the significators for Parkinson’s disease.

(2) He does not have a 3rd/8th overlap

(3) Shown above, B Asc is conjunct mercury in Scorpio. C Asc is at 9 Virgo 31 in the same set with c mars, ruler of c 3rd house, at 7 Sagittarius 52.

A number of Fairbanks’ charts contained Angle/light/mercury/mars/3rd/8th—his 1st, 3rd, 9th, and 12th. Of those, I was interested in which was strongest, and which might be his COG chart. His 9th, shown below, was very strong for the significators. Further, we have a hint that his 9th might have been Fairbanks COG chart because it also contains the golden benefic, shown as Set (2a) below. Fairbanks himself acknowledge he had an exceptionally lucky life. But that is not the only hint. Fairbanks was an Anglophile. He was also accepted and very comfortable in his relations with English royalty. Born in America, he was also quite successful in his daring exploits against the enemy in WW II. All of these suggest a 9th house (foreign countries) emphasis.

Here are excerpts from Wikipedia (9/28/11) about his relations with the English upper classes and his foreign honors: For his planning the diversion-deception operations and his part in the amphibious assault on Southern France, Lieutenant Commander Fairbanks was awarded the United States Navy's Legion of Merit with bronze V (for valor), the Italian War Cross for Military Valor, the French Légion d’honneur and the Croix de guerre with Palm, and the British Distinguished Service Cross. Fairbanks was also awarded the Silver Star for valor displayed while serving on PT boats…He was made an Honorary Knight Commander of the Order of the British Empire (KBE) in 1949. Fairbanks stayed in the Naval Reserve after the war and ultimately retired a captain in 1954.

…Fairbanks returned to Hollywood at the conclusion of World War II, but as a confirmed Anglophile, he spent a considerable amount of his time in the United Kingdom, where he was well known in the highest social circles…The College of Arms in London granted Fairbanks a coat of arms symbolizing the U.S. and Britain united across the blue Atlantic Ocean by a silken knot of friendship…In 1982, Fairbanks was awarded the German Federal Cross of Merit for his contribution to the relief of the needy in occupied Germany…Fairbanks was a friend of Lord Olivier and was among the contributors to a documentary by The South Bank Show called Laurence Olivier: A Life. He was also a close friend of Sir Rex Harrison and was a presenter at Harrison's New York City memorial service.

Set (1a) above shows up a conjunction to B Asc in c 3rd house of SN/mercury/mars all in Scorpio. (That’s lighted mercury/mars in a 3rd house—the 3rd part of the influence.) B9 moon in Taurus is also in the set. Since b mercury rules B MC, it increases the influence of the set to another Angle, and it also acts like a light with a 5° orb. B9 moon rules b 8th house. B9 mars co-rules (15 of 28°) b 4th house and also rules B Asc in c 3rd.

Set (2a) shows us his 9th chart golden benefic. It is comprised of mercury/venus/jupiter/neptune/uranus. Since c9 mercury rules both C Angles, it acts like a light and this set influences two Angles. B9 neptune co-rules (18 of 36°) b 4th house, suggesting Fairbanks will retain his charisma, success, and popularity until he dies.

We do not know anything about Fairbanks’ spirituality, but neptune’s addition to his golden benefic sponsors his success in films.

(2) Fairbanks’ chart does not have a 3rd/8th overlap.

(3) Set (1a) above shows Fairbanks has mercury and mars conjunct B Asc. Mars would be out of orb to the Asc but mercury is a light, so mars is also conjunct the Asc.

One of the sets for Fairbanks death was as follows:

Set (3a)pb moon3 Aquarius 22ruler of b 8th house
pb mercury3 Aquarius 32ruler of B MC
pb mars 3 Taurus 51ruler of B Asc in c 3rd house, co-ruler (15 of 27°) b 4th house
pc9 mercury3 Taurus 57ruler of C MC and C Asc

Set (3a) shows massive influence of light/mercury/mars to Angles, 3rd, and 8th houses.

Fairbanks also had a progressed “dark” malefic, with c9 mars, ruler of c 3rd and 8th houses, at 26 Sagittarius 30 in the same set with c9 sun at 26 Sagittarius 42 and progressed c saturn, co-ruler (13 of 33°) of c 4th house, at 26 Pisces 01 (a little early, but the sun’s presence hurries it along). This set has no Angle influence. Transiting9 NN (7 a.m. EDT) was at 25 Pisces 57.

FRANCISCO FRANCO
Franco was a general who was dictator of Spain for 36 years.

Astrodatabank did not state Franco suffered from Parkinson’s, but his name was included in a list of Parkinson individuals published by Wikipedia. He died November 20, 1975 of an accumulation of ailments.

(1) The set above includes Asc/venus/mercury/mars/saturn. B7 venus rules b 3rd house and B MC. C saturn co-rules (12 of 19°) c 8th house. B8 mars rules b 4th house and co-rules (28 of 34°) b 3rd house, and co-rules (24 of 29°) b 8 house. This set includes all the significators for Parkinson’s disease. The above set does not work because that mars is not a birth mars, it is a conception mars. So it does not influence any of those houses. (I un-intentionally left out c jupiter, also part of the set, so I put it in now.)

Birth just one minute forty-five seconds later would have put his B Asc at 0 Virgo 00, ruled by that b mercury. Then mercury would act like a light with a 5° orb and there would be no question that all the planets shown were in the set. But I did not pursue rectification of his time of birth.

(2) Franco does not have a 3rd/8th overlap.

(3) The set above, which also influences B MC, shows mercury and mars in the same set with C Asc.

His Parkinson’s signature is in his 8th chart

Francisco Franco
His Signature in His Partial Harmonic Chart for His 8th House is Also Valid

Placidus: c11—9Pis, c12—22Ari, c2—23Gem, c3—12Can b11—3Can, b12—4Leo, b2—25Vir, b3—24Lib

(1) Set (1a) above includes Asc/mercury/mars/saturn/uranus. But this time, the mars is a birth mars—b8 mars. It rules b 4th house, and co-rules (28 of 34°) b 3rd house, and co-rules (24 of 29°) b 8th house. C jupiter rules c 8th house. Note that saturn is in the set, and it adds a 9th house influence (ruler of c 9th house). Set (1a) includes all the influences so far identified as the Parkinson’s signature.

With that saturn and a 9th house influence, Set (1a) also includes an apparent Alzheimer’s signature—Angle/mercury/saturn/3rd/4th/8th/9th. That is, assuming saturn is close enough to C Asc to be counted as part of the set. Assuming it is, then why didn’t Franco get Alzheimer’s disease?

Speaking astrologically, Franco did not get Alzheimer’s disease because he has an astrological tag which cancels or over-rules his Alzheimer’s. It is seen as Set (1b) above, the conjunction of c sun (occurring in all charts) to C MC. Since c sun rules c 4th house, that gives him an Asc/sun/4th influence which cancels the Alzheimer’s indication. Angle/sun in any one of the four Alzheimer’s houses (3rd, 4th, 8th, 9th) over-rides an Alzheimer signature.

(2) Franco does not have a 3rd/8th overlap.

(3) Franco still has an Angle/mercury/mars in this, his 8th chart.

GEORGE ROY HILL
From Astrodatabank: “American film director, highly successful as a master of nostalgia…His works included ‘They Shoot Horses, Don’t They?,’ ‘Slaughterhouse 5,’ ‘The Sting,’ (for which he won an Academy Award) and ‘Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.’

He studied music at Yale and Dublin’s Trinity College.”

From Wikipedia (9/30/11): Hill died, Manhattan, December 27, 2002 from complications from Parkinson’s disease.”

His significators for Parkinson’s are not in his 7th chart. They are in his 6th chart:

George Roy Hill

Placidus: c11—25Lib, c12—14Sco, c2—13Cap, c3—26Aqu b11—24Sco, b12—14Sag, b2—29Aqu, b3—7Ari

(1) Set (1) above includes node/node/moon/mercury/mars. B mars rules B MC and b 3rd house. B6 mercury co-rules (30 of 38°) b 8th house. It contains the full set of significators for Parkinson’s except it lacks 4th influence.

(2) Hill does not have a 3rd/8th overlap.

(3) Birth time was given as 9:58 am, presumably exact. If it were about 6 minutes later (about 1-1/2° by Angle) we would have Angle/mercury and Angle/mars: C MC at 29 Virgo 52 would change to about 1 Libra 22 and be in the same set with b mars, ruler of b 3rd house, at 2 Libra 55. B MC at 3 Scorpio 36 would change to about 5 Scorpio 06 and be in the same set with b7 mercury at 5 Leo 57.

Hill has a chart that better indicates his Parkinson’s. It is not his COG chart, which is probably his 9th chart (he had his pilot’s license by age 16, loved flying. Took his degree at Trinity College, Dublin. Here is the link to his Wikipedia biography which discusses his love of aviation: George Roy Hill Biography. Also tending toward a COG chart, his 9th increases overall benefic influence. He starts out with an all-charts non-harmonic moon/venus/jupiter with influence to C Asc. His 9th chart adds another golden benefic. Finally, his 9th puts his b9 neptune (films) at 2 Scorpio 36 conjunct B MC at 2 Scorpio 34, lighted by c9 sun, ruler of c 9th and co-ruler of c 8th houses, at 0 Taurus 37.

For the signature for his Parkinson’s disease, his 3rd chart puts his mercury and mars closer together (than his 6th) and the set influences more houses and Angles. Furthermore, its progressions for death are completely appropriate. Here is the set:

(1) Set (1a) above gives us a set with node/2mercury/mars/2uranus. B mars rules b 3rd house and B MC. B3 mercury co-rules (30 of 38°) b 8th house. C3 mercury, also functioning as a light, rules C MC in b 8th house. C3 uranus rules c 3rd house. This set influences two Angles, both 3rd houses, and b 8th twice. It has no 4th influence, but he picks up an Angular 4th at death, shown below.

(2) Hill has no 3rd/8th overlap.

(3) In this chart, without speculating on changing the time, Hill does have Angle/mercury and Angle/mars. B MC at 3 Scorpio 34 is conjunct c3 mars at 2 Scorpio 52. C Asc at 2 Sagittarius 49 is conjunction to b mercury at 0 Sagittarius 40, with c3 sun—a light—increasing orb.

On the date of his death, December 27, 2002, Hill had pB MC at 25 Capricorn 38 conjunct pb3 mercury (8th co-ruler) at 25 Capricorn 54. Progressed C Asc is at 3 Aries 35, picking up Set (1a) above, also with return3 saturn at 2 Libra 35R. Return MC at 29 Leo 01 is conjunct c saturn at 28 Leo 01 and opposition pb3 saturn, ruler of B Asc, at 28 Aquarius 20. Return3 mars is at 0 Virgo 03, return3 saturn at 0 Gemini 31, and b mercury at 0 Sagittarius 40. Here is the 4th influence:

CARLO MARIA MARTINI
Martini retired July, 2002 from the Roman Catholic College of Cardinals. He was ordained a priest in 1952, became Archbishop on January 6, 1980, was installed as the Archbishop of Milan March, 1980, and elevated to Cardinal of Milan on February 2, 1983.

Martini was included on the list made by Wikipedia of living individuals with Parkinson’s disease.

His Parkinson’s was not in his 7th, nor his 6th chart, but in his 3rd chart:

Carlo Maria Martini
His Signature in His Partial Harmonic Chart for the 3rd House is Superceded

Placidus: c11—29Gem, c12—0Leo, c2—21Vir, c3—20Lib b11—13Leo, b12—11Vir7, b2—0Sco, b3—3Sag

(1) It can be seen immediately that one of the problems finding significators involving 3rd and 8th houses in Martini’s case is that their rulers are jupiter and venus (birth) and venus and neptune (conception.), respectively It works much more easily when mars or mercury rules at least one of those houses. And often when mars rules the 3rd house it also rules the 8th.

Set (1) above includes mercury/mercury/mars. But none of them rules 3rd or 8th houses, nor an Angle. We can look at this set from two points of view

(a) The significator is mercury in Scorpio only. This would be the first time we have seen it as a significator in the 3rd chart—it has always been in the 7th. Nonetheless, the mercury in Scorpio shown above is in the sign Scorpio, having mars and 8th implications and it is in b 3rd house in the 3rd chart. But it lacks influence to an Angle. All it misses is an Angle ruler.
(b) Birth time for Turin, Italy was given as 11:10 pm MET. Birth at 10:54:40 pm (that is, 15 minutes 20 seconds earlier) would give a B Asc at 29 Virgo 57, ruled by b mercury 16 Aquarius 30, also in the set—which would give us an Angle ruler. But that time would also give us Scorpio on the cusp of b 3rd house and Aries on the cusp of b 8th house, giving the whole set above influence to an Angle and 3rd and 8th house, i.e., a complete set for Parkinson’s.

Birth that much earlier is a possibility. Not only are European births usually recorded only to the nearest 15 minutes, but in general all over the world recording exact time of birth is not the greatest priority in the delivery room.

(2) There is no 3rd/8th overlap.

(3) He has b6 mars at 25 Taurus 35 in the same set with C Asc at 26 Leo 36. His Astrodatabank birth time yields a late Virgo Ascendant which puts it in the same set with c mercury at 27 Pisces 36. There is no Angle/mars.

It is far more likely that Martini’s Parkinson’s signature must include c mars. C mars and its harmonics rule c 4th house. They co-rule (25 of 35°) c 3rd. And they also co-rule (20 of 29°) c 8th house. So, c mars gives us all the house influence we need. The charts that have lighted mercury/mars (where the mars is a c mars) and also include a planet that rules an Angle are Martini’s 10th and 11th charts. We’ll look at his 10th as a possible COG chart.

(1) Set (1a) above contains moon/2mercury/mars. C10 mars rules c 4th house, co-rules (25 of 35°) c 3rd house and co-rules (20 of 29°) c 8th house. B10 moon rules B MC.

(2) Martini does not have a 3rd/8th overlap.

(3) His Eminence has an Angle/mercury in this chart, but not an Angle/mars. B Asc at 2 Libra 51 is in the same set with c10 mercury at 1 Aries 15. Since he also has an Angle/saturn (B MC at 9 Cancer 05 and b10 saturn at 8 Libra 20), it would be interesting to find out if he has only the stiff version of Parkinson’s.

Set (2a) above shows us a conjunction of 2sun/venus/jupiter in Aquarius—a golden benefic made possible by the two lights in the set. C10 sun rules C Asc. C jupiter co-rules (29 of 30°) c 4th house, suggesting this individual’s prominence will continue to late in life, and he will be seen as humanitarian and progressive (Aquarius).

Note the conjunction of c NN at 24 Gemini 50 with c10 uranus at 23 Gemini 06 in 9th/10th houses, suggesting success (NN) writing (Gemini) unusual or unconventional or progressive (uranus) religious or philosophical (9th) works in career (10th house). His Eminence has published over 40 books.

Note also in this chart—shown above, unnumbered—c mercury in Pisces conjunct b10 SN in c 8th house, suggesting some kind of painful (Pisces) transformation (8th) of the mind (mercury). And he has b10 mercury in Scorpio in b 3rd house.

WILLIAM HOWELL MASTERS
Dr. Masters, physician and pioneer researcher in the field of human sexuality along with his partner, Virginia Johnson, publishing Human Sexual Response in 1966 (a bestseller) and Human Sexual Inadequacy in 1970 (another best seller). They co-founded the Masters and Johnson Institute in St. Louis, Missouri in 1973, married in 1971, and divorced in 1992.

Masters retired from the Institute in 1994 with a diagnosis of Parkinson’s (Astrodatabank has Alzheimer’s, but that must be a typo because an obituary has him dying from Parkinson’s disease.

Significators for Parkinson’s are in his 6th chart:

C6 mars rules C MC and co-rules c 4th. C mercury rules c 3rd house, and b6 uranus rules b 8th house. The set influences three Angles and includes the full set of significators for Parkinson’s.

(2) Masters does not have a 3rd/8th overlap.

(3) Master’s does not have either Angle/mercury or Angle/mars in his 6th chart. (He does have them in his 7th chart, with C MC at 14 Aries 19 in the same set with b7 mercury at 16 Capricorn 39 and B MC at 26 Pisces 41 in the same set with b7 mars at 25 Virgo 26.

Progressions in his 6th chart for his death on February 16, 2001 show pB Asc at 20 Virgo 19 in the same set with b saturn at 20 Gemini 02 and pc6 saturn at 20 Pisces 16. Progressed c6 mars, ruler of C MC, at 24 Capricorn 24 is in the same set with C Asc (if a little late) at 23 Cancer 50. Return mercury was at 5 Aquarius 51, falling into Set (1). Return6 uranus was at 26 Pisces 33 conjunct B MC at 26 Pisces 41.

Return NN was at 20 Gemini 29. But it was more significant by transit (7 a.m. MST) on the date of his death. It was at 19 Gemini 58 in the same set with b mercury at 18 Sagittarius 31, b6 mars at 19 Gemini 16, and b saturn at 20 Gemini 05. In fact, it puts this set on pB Asc at 20 Virgo 19. Without the transiting (or return) node, only saturn is in the same set with pB Asc.

EUGENE MCCARTHY
On December 11, 2005 The New York Times carried this headline: “Eugene J. McCarthy, Senate Dove Who Jolted ’68 Race, Dies at 89.” They state that according to his son, Michael, (his death) was caused by complications of Parkinson’s disease.

Astrodatabank described McCarthy as a wry and provocative thinker…(who) defied easy definition as a liberal. He was a politician, teacher, and author of three books.

The following is excerpted from his biography on Wikipedia 9/30/2011):

Eugene Joseph "Gene" McCarthy (March 29, 1916 – December 10, 2005) was an American politician, poet, and a long-time member of the United States Congress from Minnesota. He served in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1949 to 1959 and the US Senate from 1959 to 1971.

In the 1968 presidential election, McCarthy was the first candidate to challenge incumbent Lyndon B. Johnson for the Democratic nomination for president of the United States, running on an anti-Vietnam War platform. The unexpected vote total he achieved in the New Hampshire primary and his strong polling in the upcoming Wisconsin primary led Johnson to withdraw from the race, and lured Robert F. Kennedy into the contest. Fellow Minnesotan US Vice President Hubert Humphrey also entered the race after Johnson's withdrawal. McCarthy would unsuccessfully seek the presidency five times altogether.

The son of a deeply religious mother of German descent and strong-willed father of Irish descent who was a postmaster and cattle buyer known for his earthy wit, McCarthy grew up in Watkins, Minnesota, as one of four children and attended St. Anthony's Catholic School in Watkins. A bright student who spent hours reading his aunt's Harvard Classics, he was deeply influenced by the monks at nearby St. John’s Abbey and University. McCarthy spent nine months as a novice before he left the monastery, causing a fellow novice to say, "It was like losing a 20-game winner."

McCarthy graduated from Saint John’s Preparatory School (Collegeville, Minnesota) in 1931. He was a 1935 graduate of St. John’s University in Collegeville, Minnesota. McCarthy earned his master’s degree from the University of Minnesota in 1939. He taught in various public schools in Minnesota and North Dakota from 1935 to 1940, when he became a professor of economics and education at St. John's, working there from 1940 to 1943.

He was a civilian technical assistant in the Military Intelligence Division of the War Department in 1944 and an instructor in sociology and economics at the College of St. Thomas, St. Paul, Minnesota, from 1946 to 1949.

McCarthy took up writing poetry in the 1960s, and his increased political prominence lead to increased interest in his published works. "If any of you are secret poets, the best way to break into print is to run for the presidency," he wrote in 1968. He published a collection of poetry entitled Cool Reflections: Poetry For The Who, What, When, Where and Especially Why of It All.

In 1969, McCarthy left his wife, Abigail, after 24 years of marriage, but the two never divorced. McCarthy was rumored to be having a long-term affair with prominent columnist and journalist Shana Alexander. However, according to Dominic Sandbrook’s 's recent McCarthy biography, it was the late CBS News correspondent Marya McLaughlin [with whom McCarthy was actually involved, in a long-term relationship that lasted until Ms. McLaughlin's death in 1998.

After leaving the Senate in 1971, McCarthy became a senior editor at Harcourt Brace Jovanovich Publishing and a syndicated newspaper columnist.McCarthy died of complications from Parkinson’s disease at the age of 89 on December 10, 2005 in a retirement home in Georgetown, Washington, D.C., where he had lived for the previous few years. His eulogy was given by former President Bill Clinton.

(1) Set (1) above includes Asc/moon/mercury/venus/mars. The orb between mercury and mars is large—5° 44’. But the orb from moon to mars is 3° 28’ and that between mercury and mars, 2° 16’—acceptable orbs. (Asc also acts like a “light” with a 2° orb.) B7 venus rules b 4th and co-rules (11 of 25°) b 3rd house. B7 mercury rules b 8th house. B mars rules B MC and b 3rd house. The set contains all the significators for Parkinson’s.

(2) McCarthy has a 3rd/8th house overlap between b 3rd and c 8th houses.

(3) B MC at 10 Scorpio 39 is in the same set with c7 mercury at 9 Aquarius 01. As shown above in (1), b mars, ruler of b 3rd house, is in the same set with B Asc.

McCarthy has closer mercury/mars set with the proper influence in several of his chart. (With b and c mars ruling both 3rd houses, and c mars also ruling c 8th house, then any harmonic set that contained c mercury was sufficient to give us an Angle/mercury/mars/3rd/8th set because c mercury rules both C Angles and is, therefore, also a light.) It looks like he had two COG charts—his 7th and his 9th. (Seems right for a politician and professor.)

The significator for his interest in writing poetry is in his 7th and shown above in Set (1). The significator is Angle/light/mercury/venus/3rd plus a light in Pisces. In Set (1) b mars rules B MC and b 3rd house, while b7 venus co-rules b 3rd. McCarthy’s b sun is at 14 Pisces 49, while his b and c harmonic suns for his 7th chart are at 13 Pisces 18. Mercury is still too far from B Asc to produce a strong set. McCarthy’s poetry wasn’t published until he ran for President.

Both his 7th and 9th charts produce powerful progressions for death. But the 7th usually does—that is one of the reasons it took me so long to look at other harmonic charts. The 7th chart was producing so much confirmation I didn’t feel the need to look elsewhere. Two conditions early in studying this method of astrology which did not have significators in the 7th chart were mental retardation and autism. Since both conditions are extreme (from the point of average), then two conclusions were possible. This astrology did not show those condtions, which was untrue. Or second, the significators for those conditions were in charts other than the 7th, which was true.

McCarthy’s 7th and 9th both contain the secondary Parkinson’s signature—Angle/mercury and Angle/mars.

McCarthy’s 9th chart, however, catches his inclination to religious viewpoints. It sponsors his work as a professor (9th house—higher education.). It is the one that contains the necessary benefic influence to Angles to enable his life of 22 years of service in the Unites States Congress. Getting elected that often requires Angle/benefics. Here is the set in his 9th chart that shows his Parkinson’s disease:

(1) Set (1a) above contains moon/mercury/2mars/saturn/pluto. With this method pluto does not rule a sign. C9 mercury rules C MC and C Asc, and co-rules (22 of 35°) c 9th house. It also acts like a light. C9 mars rules c 3rd and 8th houses. B9 mars rules B MC and b 3rd house. C saturn co-rules (26 of 34°) c 4th house. The set influences three Angles and both 3rd houses.

Inclusion of saturn in the set presents a problem because the set also contains Angle/light/mercury/saturn/3rd/4th/8th/9th—an Alzheimer signature. So, the question is, why didn’t it sponsor Alzheimer’s disease?

It is just a little more complicated than Angle/sun/4th, but not much. Birth sun at 14 Pisces 49 is conjunct b jupiter at 17 Pisces 11. Together they are on C Desc (i.e., Angular) at 19 Pisces 13. B saturn, at 16 Gemini 16, is also in the set and rules B Asc in c 4th house. That gives him a sun/jupiter influence to an Angle in the 4th house. Sun/Asc/4th runs contrary to loss of ego such as occurs with Alzheimer’s.

Set (2a) above shows us McCarthy’s 9th chart golden benefic with B MC in the same set with b9 neptune, c venus, and c9 jupiter. That got him elected for 22 years. And that shows us the nearly religious (Angle/jupiter/neptune) imprint he made as a politician and well as his early life thrust toward the Church. Neither his 7th nor his 10th are that benefic.

(2) As already stated, McCarthy has a b 3rd/c 8th overlap.

(3) In this, his 9th chart, McCarthy’s Angle/mercury is shown by the conjunction of b9 mercury at 21 Gemini 15 to his C MC at 21 Gemini 59. His Angle/mars is the same as in his 7th chart—b mars at 17 Cancer 07 in the same set with B Asc at 17 Capricorn 33.

An all-charts progression for death was pc saturn, co-ruler (26 of 34°) of c 4th house to 21 Gemini 27 conjunct C MC and b9 mercury (shown in drawing). It is not uncommon for slow secondary saturn to an Angle result in death, but it most often occurs when the individual is old and unable to handle that much suppression of vital energies (saturn). Note McCarthy lived through pb saturn crossing over his C MC. It started at 16 Gemini 16 at birth and was at 24 Gemini 30 when he died—well past that Midheaven.

The other, main progression for death involved pb9 mars, ruler of B MC and b 3rd house, at 26 Virgo 06 in the same set with pc9 moon at 26 Sagittarius 07, pc mercury, ruler of C Angles, at 26 Virgo 13, pc mars, ruler of c 3rd and 8th houses, at 25 Gemini 44 (there are two lights in this set—moon and mercury), and pc9 jupiter, ruler of c 4th house, at 26 Gemini 36. Altogether McCarthy had Angle/mars/saturn and lighted mars/saturn /4th at the time of his death. His return played less part: return9 mercury at 4 Scorpio 43, return9 mars at 3 Scorpio 11, c9 saturn at 4 Leo 35, and pb moon at 4 Taurus 59. It lacks any influence to an Angle, but c9 saturn co-rules c 4th house.

This mercury/mars set influences an Angle, 3rd, 4th, and 8th houses, and includes the full set of significators for Parkinson’s disease.

With saturn/9th also part of Set (1), it also qualifies as an Alzheimer’s signature, especially since Mock has both Angle/mercury and Angle/saturn in this chart. So, why doesn’t he have Alzheimer’s disease?

(2) Mock has a 3rd/8th overlap between b 3rd house and c 8th.

(3) B MC is at 19 Aries 01 in the same set with b7 mercury, ruler of b 3rd house, at 20 Cancer 06. C Asc at 12 Capricorn plus c moon at 11 Capricorn 46 is in the same set with c mars, ruler of c 3rd house, at 10 Libra 21.

(1) Set (1) above includes Angle/mercury/mars, counting the c7 mars and not the b7 one. Birth (actually conception, since we are speaking of C MC) about 8 minutes later would give him a C MC of about 2 Scorpio 52 and would not negatively affect signs on house cusps. That would put b7 mars, but not c7 mars, on an Angle with c mercury. More’s was an English birth, recorded as at 2:30, that is, to the nearest 15 minutes.

We are going to stick with the given time of birth, which gives him C MC/c mercury/c7 mars conjunct. Influence is to an Angle, 3rd, and 8th houses. It lacks a 4th influence.

His conception mars, ruler of C MC and c 3rd house, is at 29 Gemini 56. Because it is very near 0° Cancer, it generates harmonics throughout his charts that are always at 29°. It starts out at 29 Libra 49 in his 1st chart, and moves forward by 60° for each harmonic thereafter. That means that it puts harmonic mars very near his un-rectified C MC at 0 Scorpio 52 in his 1st chart (29 Libra 49—3rd harmonic), his 4th chart (29 Aries 38—6th harmonic), his 7th chart (29 Libra 49—9th harmonic) , and his 10th chart (29 Aries 17—12th harmonic).

Combining those positions with c mercury at 2 Scorpio 26 and C MC at 0 Scorpio 52 gives him an Angle/merucyr/mars/3rd/8th, but not 4th, in those charts. His birth mars generates harmonics near his C MC in his 1st chart only at 1 Leo 32, adding a 4th house influence to the set in that chart.

(2) More’s chart does not contain 3rd/8th overlap.

(3) The set in (1) above contains C MC in the same set with mercury and mars.

We know from Wikipedia that More was a “highly successful” English actor. We can also infer that from the close square of b venus (19 Libra 34) and b jupiter (19 Capricorn 29). They will stay connected as conjunctions, squares, or oppositions throughout all twelve of his harmonic charts. In his 10th chart their harmonics look like this:

Set (2)c10 neptune21 Gemini 35 co-ruler (30 of 42°) c 2nd house
c10 moon24 Gemini 12
b10 mercury 22 Sagittarius 50ruler of b 7th house
b10 jupiter23 Sagittarius 47ruler of B Asc
b10 venus 24 Sagittarius 40ruler of B MC

Set (2) is a 10th chart golden benefic with influence to two Angles. It promises success in career. The neptune in the set helps in movies (neptune/cinema/make believe) while its influence to the 2nd house expands that success to finances. Influence to the 7th house helps make him popular and charismatic with co-workers.

OZZIE OSBOURNE
Mr. Osbourne is a British rock and reality show star. His name was also included on the Wikipedia list of individuals still living diagnosed with Parkinson’s. He was diagnosed in May 2005 with Parkinson’s Syndrome, also known as Parkinsonism. He had had tremors for years, but had attributed them to drug use.

Here is what Wikipedia had on Parkinsonism:
Parkinsonism (also know as Parkinson’s syndrome, atypical Parkinson’s, or secondary Parkinson’s) is a neurological syndrome characterized by tremor, hypokinesia, rigidity, and postural instability. The underlying causes of parkinsonism are numerous, and diagnosis can be complex. While the neurodegenerative condition Parkinson’s Disease (PD) is the most common cause of parkinsonism, a wide-range of other etiologies can lead to a similar set of symptoms, including some toxins, a few metabolic diseases, and a handful of non-PD neurological conditions. Its most common cause is as a side effect of medications, mainly neuroleptic antipsychotics especially the phenothiazines (such as perphenazine and chlorpromazine) thioxanthenes (such as flupenthixol and zuclopenthixol) and butyrophenones (such as haloperidol [Haldol], piperazines (such as ziprasidone, and rarely, antidepressants.

Osbourne’s significators are in his 6th chart:

(1) Set (1) above includes Asc/sun/mercury/mercury/mars/saturn. B6 mercury rules co-rules (30 of 39°) 8th house. C mercury rules c 3rd house. C mars rules C MC and co-rules c 4th house. B saturn rules b 3rd house. The set influence two Angles (C MC and C Asc) and contains all the significators for Parkinson’s disease.

Set (1) also contains the significators for Alzheimer’s disease—Angle/light/mercury/saturn/3rd/4th/8th/9th because c mercury in the set rules c 9th house. His “anti-Alzheimer’s set” is his conception sun at 6 Aquarius 58 conjunct C Desc at 3 Aquarius 52 in b 3rd house. Again, Angle/sun in any of the “Alzheimer’s houses” (3rd, 4th, 8th, 9th) cancels an Alzheimer’s set.

I confess that astrologically I can see no difference from his Parkinsonism and Parkinson’s disease. Maybe this is an instance of an environmental/diet/stress difference. Or, perhaps his use of drugs actually helped reduce his Parkinson’s disease to Parkinson’s syndrome.

(2) Osbourne has no 3rd/8th overlap

(3) The set discussed in (1) above contains an Angle/mercury/mars.

Osbourne has b mercury at 11 Scorpio 41 in c 4th house, co-ruling (30 of 39°) b 8th house, giving his mercury a 3rd/4th/8th influence.

MERVIN L. PEAKE
Astrodatabank: “British artist, illustrator, poet, playwright, suffered from encephalitis [?] his last 10 years; best known for “gormenghast” trilogy; controversial; married once.

Note the above paragraph does not say he suffered from Parkinson’s disease. His website does not state how he died. Wikipedia had him on the list of deceased individuals who had had Parkinson’s disease. In their biography it was stated that in 1956 his health was already declining, and that by 1957 he was showing unmistakable early symptoms of Parkinson’s disease. He died November 17, 1968, cause unstated.

In spite of the fact Peake was born in China, his was another “English birth.” That is, birth time was recorded to the nearest fifteen minutes following the English custom because he parents were English.

(2) Peake does not have a 8th/3rd overlap.

(3) In addition to the 2Angle/mercury/mars (where mars rules b 3rd house) described in (1) above, C MC at 4 Gemini 01 and C Asc a 4 Virgo are in the same set with c mercury at 5 Virgo 15.

Note that Peake has moon/mercury/neptune conjunct B MC. Neptune is for fantasy. Mercury is for writing, and probably drawing, and mercury/moon for communicating emotions. Conjunct the Midheaven they guarantee expression.

JOHN ENOCH POWELL
The correct title for Powell is Brigadier-General, The Right Honorable Enoch Powell, MBE. British politician, conservative member of Parliament, soldier, author, academic, classical scholar, and poet, Powell was the great-grandson of a coal miner. With strong opinions, he was often embroiled in controversy.

Powell studied at Trinity College 1930-33 where he was influenced by the poet A.E. Houseman (then teaching there) and the German philosopher, Friedrich Nietzsche. In 1937 he was appointed Professor of Greek at Sydney University at age 25 (failing in his aim of beating Nietzsche's record of becoming a professor at 24). He revised Stuart-Jones's edition of Thucydides’ Historiae for the Oxford University Press in 1938, and his most lasting contribution to classical scholarship was his Lexicon to Herodotus, published the same year. He was reading Ancient Greek by the time he was 5 (learning from his mother, and at age 70 he started learning his 12th and final language, Hebrew.

From Wikipedia: In the autumn of 1992, at the age of 80, Powell was diagnosed as suffering from Parkinson’s disease… By this time [1994] Powell had been hospitalized several times as a result of a succession of falls. Powell began, but did not complete, work on a study of the Gospel of John. It was unfinished at the time of his death, aged 85, at 4:30 a.m. on 8 February 1998 at the King Edward VII Hospital for Officers in the City of Westminster, London. Powell's final words were a few hours after being admitted to hospital, he asked where his lunch was. On being told that he was being fed intravenously he remarked "I don't call that much of a lunch"

(1) The set above is quite simple. It contains mercury/mars. B7 mercury rules b 6th and co-rules (30 of 44°) b 8th. C mars rules C MC in b 3rd house. This set lacks a light.

(2) Powell has a 3rd/8th overlap through b 8th and c 3rd houses.

(3) This, the 7th chart, does not show either an Angle/mercury or an Angle/mars.

In his 6th chart Powell has c6 mercury at 2 Scorpio 25 in c 4th house and it rules c 3rd house. In the sign Scorpio it suggests both mars and 8th qualities. In his 6th chart he also has an Angle/mercury and Angle/mars. B6 mercury is at 8 Cancer 46 in the same set with C MC at 9 Aries 55. B6 mars is at 24 Capricorn 58 in the same set with C Asc at 25 Cancer 46.

His 3rd chart, a more likely chart for his Parkinson’s significator, he has the following:

Set (2a)b3 mars0 Gemini 36ruler of b 3rd house, (?Ruler of B MC?)
b mercury1 Gemini 06co-ruler (30 of 44°) of b 8th house
b sun1 Gemini 44ruler of b 8th house
c venus1 Virgo 46

Birth 2 minutes 40 seconds later would put his B MC at 0 Scorpio 00 in c 4th house, ruled by b3 mars above. As it is, this set lacks 4th influence.

(3) In his 3rd chart Powell has C MC at 9 Aries 55 in the same set with c SN at 8 Libra 13 and b3 mercury at 5 Libra 29—an Angle/mercury. He does not have an Angle/mars.

His 3rd chart progressions for death give him an Angle/node/mercury, an Angle/saturn, and an Angle/mars. His return contributes a mars to his progressed Angle/saturn.

In this, his 3rd chart, he has c3 mercury, ruler of c 3rd house, at 24 Scorpio 01.

Powell’s 3rd chart contains his significator for his Parkinson’s disease, but his COG chart is his 9th. Here are some comments on that chart:

Set (3a) above shows us C MC in the same set with mercury and uranus—a signature for brilliance. His is added to by the fact that c9 mercury also rules b 3rd house, specifically identifying this “brilliant” set as a mental one. This set also shows his gift for languages. His c9 mercury is in b 9th house and made Angular by C MC. That means it must express. And what it expresses is the a powerful 9th house mercury. The other way a gift for languages often shows is through mercury in Sagittarius with influence to an Angle, with Sagittarius being the natural sign of the 9th house.

Set (3b), I believe, identifies his interest and success in antiquities. NN in 9th suggests reaching beyond the mundane or what is in front of one. The saturn suggests “classical, old, or, simply antiquated.” South node conjunct uranus in the 3rd shows additional mental ability. While Angle/mercury/uranus stands for recognized brilliance, lighted uranus in a 3rd shows an innovative, intuitive mind—some one who thinks outside the box. Here is one of the ways Powell "innovated" (from Wikipedia): “He spent much of his later life trying to prove, with close textual reading, that Christ had not been crucified but stoned to death.” Many people involved in such quest would be considered a bit off. Powell’s brilliance and capability with languages, however, make his quest demand some respect.

Set (3c) is his 9th chart golden benefic, something we would expect in some one who showed great success in his studies. It is comprised of sun/venus/mars/2 jupiter, with influence to B Asc through b9 jupiter. If B MC is actually in Scorpio instead of late Libra, then mars in this set also influences B MC.

Finally, he has a set not shown above. His b10 mercury is at 12 Aries 03 conjunct b10 NN at 12 Aries 24 in b 3rd house, an excellent position for teaching. In Aries it suggests speaking one’s peace regardless of consequences, which Powell sometimes did.

His two harmonic mercuries in his 9th chart present some intriguing Parkinson attributes: c9 mercury is in b 4th, rules c 3rd, and is in the same set with b9 mercury which is in b 3rd and co-rules (30 of 44) b 4th. This is not a Parkinson significator. It lacks mars. Nonetheless, it suggests mental (mercury/3rd) transformations (8th) at the end of life (4th).

Powell wrote. We saw above that he has b mercury and b sun in Gemini (shown in Set (2a)). Gemini is ruled by mercury, and mercury suggests communication, writing, speech, and so on. In this, his 9th chart, he also has c9 moon, ruler of C Asc, at 1 Gemini 46. Its influence to an Angle means he will publish. This set also contains c venus at 1 Virgo 46. Angle/light/mercury/venus/3rd shows interest in poetry. Powell’s does not influence his 3rd house, but it does influence his 9th. Since his 9th is his COG chart, I think the 9th house influence an acceptable substitute for the 3rd house. At any rate, he stopped publishing his poetry after he married. After that, each year he wrote a poem only for his wife. She never published them either. They were buried with Powell when he died.

VINCENT PRICE
Better known for his roles in horror movies, Price was also knowledgeable about art. He received his Master’s in Fine Arts from the University of London and a Bachelor of Art History from Yale.

From Wikipedia: In 1951, impressed by the spirit of the students and the community's need for the opportunity to experience original art works first hand, Price [and his second wife, Mary Grant Price] donated some 90 pieces from his own collection to East Los Angeles College in Monterey Park, California, thus establishing the first "teaching art collection" owned by a community college in the U.S. Today, the Vincent Price Art Gallery continues to present world-class exhibitions, and remains one of the actor's most enduring legacies. The collection contains over 2,000 pieces and has been valued in excess of five million dollars. (On exhibit at The Vincent Price Gallery on the ELAC campus for free. Mon-Thu 12:00pm–3:00pm behind the F-5 Building)

Price was a life-long smoker who suffered from emphysema and Parkinson’s disease before he died of lung cancer on October 25, 1993, Los Angeles, California.

His significators for Parkinson’s are not in his 7th chart, nor in his 6th. They are in his 3rd chart.

(1) Set (1) above consists of mercury/mars. It does not contain a light, making it weaker, but not ineffective. B3 mercury rules b 8th house. B mars rules B MC and b 3rd house. This set includes influence to an Angle and has mercury/mars/3rd/8th—all the significators for Parkinson’s.

(2) Price has a 3rd/8th overlap with b 3rd house to c 8th house.

(3) B3 mars is at 8 Cancer 24 in the same set with C Asc an 10 Libra 01. There is no Angle/mercury.

However, birth about 10 minutes (approximately 2-1/2°) later would give him C MC at 18 Cancer 12 in the same set with b mercury at 18 Aries 03, and B Asc at 14 Aquarius 24 in the same set with c mars at 14 Leo 33.

My return to the drawing board brought forth Price’s 12th chart as the one containing his Parkinson’s signature.

Placidus: c11—19Leo, c12—17Vir, c2—9Sco, c3—11Sag b11—13Sag, b12—6Cap, b2—25Pis, b3—27Ari

(1) Set (1a) above contains moon/mercury/venus/mars. B12 mercury rules b 8th house and co-rules (13/22°) b 4th. C12 moon rules C MC. B12 venus rules b 4th house, co-rules (21 of 24°) b 3rd, and co-rules (27 of 32°) b 8th. Everything for the significator for Parkinson’s is present.

Note he has C MC in the same set with node/jupiter, and B MC conjunct c12 venus. This is a lucky chart, but so is his 10th, which also has Angle/venus and Angle/jupiter, and which has a full golden benefic. The incomplete golden benefic above (it lacks influence to an Angle) as Set (1b) also shows his love of the fine arts (Angle/light/venus/neptune). That set is present in the charts of all oil painters I have looked at (e.g., Van Gogh, etc.). Price majored in that area in college. But it also apparently shows his later life patronage of the fine arts. His 7th chart has this set, but not his 10th.

(2) As mentioned above, Price has an overlap of b 3rd house with c 8th.

(3) B MC at 21 Scorpio 18 is in the same set with c12 mars at 23 Taurus 26. His Angle/mercury is an all-charts set comprised of C MC at 15 Cancer 52 in the same set with b NN at 16 Aries 25 and b mercury at 18 Aries 03. The node extends the orb to include mercury.

Progressions for death included a moon/mars/saturn with influence to B MC, and a sun/mars/saturn with influence to c 4th house. The latter fit into his return (occurring on September 28, 1993, Los Angeles) for that period:

While progressed orbs are 1° or less, that allowable around a return Angle is 2°.

GEORGE WALLACE
Wallace was governor of Alabama, beginning in 1963, for three terms, during which time he espoused segregation. (in spite of that he insisted he was not a racist, just an opportunist.)

Running to be the Republican presidential candidate in the 1972 primaries, he was shot and paralyzed by gunman Arthur Bremer on May 15, 1972, Laurel, Mississippi.

He died of septic shock on September 13, 1998 in a Montgomery, Alabama hospital. He was on the Wikipedia list of individuals who suffered from Parkinson’s disease.

His obituary in the New York Times reported he had been suffering for some time from Parkinson’s disease.

Placidus: c11—12Gem, c12—13Can, c2—8Vir, c3—7Lib b11—27Ari, b12—2Gem, b2—25Can, b3—21Leo

(1) As you can see in the chart above, Wallace has both a mercury in Scorpio and a set with mercury/mars. However, his mercury/mars, shown in Set (1) above, does not rule the right houses.

His mercury in Scorpio has the connotation of a mercury/mars (Scorpio)/3rd (the mercury itself)/8th (Scorpio) condition. It does not influence an Angle, but it falls in c 4th house.

Neither did his 6th or 3rd chart contain significators for Parkinson’s disease.

Wallace’s birth data was given by Astrodatabank as “From Memory.” The full things reads: “Marion March quotes Elizabeth May, from Wallace’s mom.” Then it notes that for his death, the Los Angeles Times obituary of September 14, 1998 gives Wallace’s birth date as August 24, 1919 (not August 25, as we have been working with.) Wallace’s birth data highlights one of the major problems of all astrological research. If the birth data is not absolutely reliable, the results are not going to show the reality of the situation.

(2) Wallace does not have a 3rd/8th overlap in this chart.

(3) Wallace present chart does not show Angle/mercury or Angle/mars.

Wallace’s only chart that contains his Parkinson’s signature is his 10th. Since it also contains two golden benefics, his 10th is probably his COG. Here is what the signature looks like in that chart:

George Wallace
His Signature in His Partial Harmonic Chart for His 10th House is Valid

Placidus: c11—12Gem, c12—13Can, c2—8Vir, c3—7Lib b11—27Ari, b12—2Gem, b2—25Can, b3—21Leo

(1) Set (1a) is extensive. It includes node/sun/moon/mercury/mars/2saturn/uranus. B10 moon rules B Asc. B sun rules b 3rd house. B10 mercury rules b 4th house, and co-rules (22 of 31°) b 3rd. B10 saturn rules b 8th house. C saturn rules c 6th house. B uranus rules b 9th house, and co-rules (21 of 26°) b 8th house. It shows a complete significator for Parkinson’s.

Since Set (1a) also contains a saturn/9th influence, it is a significator for Alzheimer’s disease. Wallace’s “Alzheimer’s” is cancelled by b sun, ruler of b 3rd house, at 7 Leo 28 made Angular by C MC at 9 Taurus 57. Again, this is tentative, because it does not show us an Angular sun in an Alzheimer’s house (3rd, 4th, 8th, or 9th). It shows us an Angular sun with influence to 3rd house.

The sun/mars/saturn in Set (1a) is likely the significator his health problems following the assassination attempt by Arthur Bremer. Sun stands for vitality, and mars and saturn, the lesser and greater malefics, respectively, threaten that. I don’t think it represent the his paralysis. That may be shown by the wide conjunction of c10 mars, ruler of c 4th and 9th houses, at 12 Gemini 20 to b10 moon, ruler of B Asc, at 15 Gemini 43, and c10 saturn, ruler of c 6th house, at 18 Gemini 19—a forefront set including, again, the lesser and greater malefics, lighted by the moon (autonomic nervous system) in Gemini. Gemini represents communication. The 3rd house also represents the near environment. Walking is a function of being in a local environment and is a form of communication.

Set(1b) above shows one of his 10th chart golden benefics—sun/venus/jupiter, with c sun ruling C Asc. The other is comprised of b10 venus at 11 Gemini 55 conjunct b10 moon, ruler of B Asc, at 15 Gemini 43 and in the same set with b10 jupiter at 16 Virgo 21.

Set (1c), above, with the conjunction of moon and venus influencing C MC (venus rules it) is very charismatic. Wallace served four times as governor of Alabama.

(2) Wallace does not have a 3rd/8th overlap.

(3) For the given time, Wallace does not have either an Angle/mercury or an Angle/mars in this, his 10th chart. I think, however, he was born a little later, putting his C Asc at 12 Leo 48 in the same set with c mercury at 14 Scorpio 14. More on his later time of birth below.

The following figures on the astrology for Wallace’s death involve putting his conception time 4 minutes later than the one calculated with the given time of birth. Four minutes later gives us C MC at 10 Taurus 48 and C Asc at 12 Leo 48. Birth Angles for that new conception time were B MC at 23 Pisces 17 and B Asc at 3 Cancer 27. These Angles worked well for three of his four gubernatorial elections (the fourth was the result of internal, not Angular, benefics). Insofar as I could tell, they also worked for his marriages. All biographies give only the year of all three. Four minutes later in conception gave him a birth time 4 minutes and 35 seconds later than the given one of 3:30 a.m. CWT.

Progressions for that later time give us pC MC at 1 Leo 56 in the same set with pb NN at 1 Scorpio 13, pc saturn at 2 Leo 12, and b10 mars at 2 Leo 44. Return uranus was at 2 Scorpio 11. The spread is large for a progression—mars is almost a degree away from pC MC. I suspect the progressed b NN, plus b moon, bridged the gap. The midpoint between pc NN in Scorpio and b moon at 3 Leo 49 is 2 Leo 31. This gives him an Angle/mars/saturn. He also had B Asc at 3 Cancer 27 in the same set with pc mercury at 3 Capricorn 43.

CONCLUSION
First, for this second paper we want a table which shows in which chart—3rd, 6th, or 7th—the standard significators of (Angle)/mercury/mars/3rd/8th occur. We also want to include in that table the occurrence of mercury in Scorpio when it meets all the requirements as a significator.

We want to tally the occurrence of 3rd/8th overlaps.

Finally, in this paper I will include a table which summarizes results for both papers, showing incidence of the main significators (Angle/mercury/mars/3rd/8th) as well as mercury in Scorpio for all individuals.

As well for totals, we want a count of the incidence of Angle/mercury and Angle/mars. Without absolutely correct birth data this count cannot be correct. However, the high occurrence of those conditions (similar to the high incidence of Angle/mercury and Angle/saturn in the charts of Alzheimer’s individuals) suggest these significators are a solid part of the total ones for Parkinson’s. If this is true, in the future such information would be useful in rectifying charts of individuals we know have Parkinson’s but whose time of birth we know to be an approximation.

An X or comment in the box indicates the condition exists, with the comment qualifying it. Empty boxes indicate the condition is missing.

Counts for Angle/mercury and Angle/mars are from the same harmonic chart as the significator occurred in.

Angle/mercury and Angle/mars for the 7th chart for all individuals were 15 and 14, respectively, with one additional “maybe” for each. Five of the individuals who lacked an Angle/mercury in their significator chart had it in their 7th chart. Six who lacked an Angle/mars set in their significator chart had it in the 7th chart. So, if we use the significator chart (when other than the 7th) and 7th chart to find at least one Angle/mercury and one Angle/mars per individual, then only two individuals were lacking one or the other: 5116 had his/her significator in his/her 7th chart, and that chart lacked an Angle/mercury. Wallace lacked Angle/mercury and Angle/mars in both significator and 7th chart.

The distribution of the signatures by chart was as follows:

SUMMING PARTS I AND II OF THIS PAPER
For the total of 42 individuals:

Mercury on Mars on Mercury3rd/8th Chart MainSignature Is Saturn

Part I 16158 8 207
Part II1288 821 7

I did not do the count for Angle/mercury and Angle/mars in the 7th chart (regardless of which chart contained the significator) in Part I. Anyway, we cannot really expect to get an accurate count of Angle/planet when we are using so many charts with time of birth approximate and none of the charts are rectified (except a couple I did). Still, there are enough that one suspects for Parkinson’s Angle/mercury and Angle/mars are valid parts of the signature, just as Angle/mercury and Angle/saturn appear valid parts of the Alzheimer’s signature.

For each of the 13 signatures which also contained saturn, most of which also had a 9th house influence, my best explanation (most of which I believe are valid) for why the individual did not have Alzheimer’s disease is in the body of the paper. I could not really figure a way to put that material in a table.

Total distribution of the signatures by chart for Part I and Part II was as follows:

DISCUSSION
This study found a very high incidence of the main signature for Parkinson’s disease. There was a much lower incidence of Angle/mercury and Angle/mars, suspected as part of the extended signature.

As stated in the introduction, I believe the significators for this condition are not in actual fact significators for a disease. They show an inherency, a much-traveled path that, given other factors conducive (a big one being age), end up being Parkinson’s. The high incidence of mercury and mars on Angles also points in direction of mercury and mars being “high traffic” planets among these individuals. For those for whom it develops only in old age, Parkinson’s seems a development of high wear and tear in certain psychological areas (and traits) which become, ultimately, physically pathological. Perhaps diet, stress, environment are factors. If they are, these are the individuals who will get the disease, while others undergoing the same experience but without the significators will not get the disease.

It is also possible that the “Parkinson’s signature” shown herein is actually a signature (ultimately with age, if not before) for more than one neurological disorder, with unknown factors, both environmental and astrological, determining which disease occurs.
