*Hope for the best, prepare for the worst*
There are numerous types of cancer that can afflict the kidneys. The most common form is Renal cell-carcinoma. It accounts for approximately 85% of kidney cancers. Fortunately, if found early enough survival rate for this type of cancer ranges from 79%-100%. More than 100,000 survivors of kidney cancer are alive in the U.S. today. I’m grateful to say, my father is among the survivors. It is pretty rare, accounting for only 3% of all adult cancers, usually affecting people between the ages of 50-70 yrs. old. Oddly enough, it affects men almost twice as much as often as women. In most cases the cancer stays confined to the one kidney, it is very unlikely for it to spread if found early enough.
