1. Meditation (Breathing) Anapanasati

This meditation can help calm your mind and increase concentration and then gaining an insight of yourself and everything.

Method :

1.Initially, chant to pay respect and take in a few deep breaths for preliminary calming down.

2.Next you can start breathing while counting your breaths while noticing each breath.

3.As you breathe in, you can count one, exhale, two, inhale, three, and so on until you reached 10.

4.Repeat procedure 3 above.

5.Continue this meditation and do not exceed half an hour every time you meditate.

This meditation will also help those who are deluded into unprofitable bad thoughts and wish to seek calmness and an understanding of the true situation.


2. Meditation on Loving Kindness,

Metta Bhavana

Mentally Repeat "May I be without enmity, without ill-will and untroubled; may I keep myself happy."

-Think of a friendly person, a neutral person & an enemy @ a person who has offended you & recite mentally for each of them: "May you be without enmity, without ill-will and untroubled; may you keep yourself happy."

-Think of the people who live around you, then proceed to those in your town, country and the universe & recite, for each category: "May all beings be without enmity, without ill-will & untroubled; may they keep themselves happy."

***Precautions -Don't think of a person of opposite sex @ a deceased person while meditating. -Practice regularly. Seat comfortably - Lotus @ semi-lotus position.


3. Chanting (Homage) Vadana

Recite : (3x)

Namo tassa bhagavato arahato sammasambuddhassa.

Homage to Him, the Exalted, Worthy & Fully Enlightened.


4. Chanting (The Three Refuge) Tisarana

Recite :

Buddham saranam gacchami,

Dhamman saranam gacchami,

Sangham saranam gacchami.

Dutiyampi Buddham saranam gacchami,

Dutiyampi Dhamman saranam gacchami,

Dutiyampi Sangham saranam gacchami.

Tatiyampi Buddham saranam gacchami,

Tatiyampi Dhamman saranam gacchami,

Tatiyampi Sangham saranam gacchami.

I take refuge with the Buddha,

I take refuge with the Dhamma,

I take refuge with the Sangha.

Twice I take refuge with the Buddha,

Twice I take refuge with the Dhamma,

Twice I take refuge with the Sangha.

Thrice I take refuge with the Buddha,

Thrice I take refuge with the Dhamma,

Thrice I take refuge with the Sangha.


5.Chanting the Panca Sila

(The Five Precepts)

Recite :

Panatipata Veramani Sikkhapadam Samadiyami.

Adinadana Veramani Sikkhapadam Samadiyami.

Kamesu Micchara Veramani Sikkhapadam Samadiyami.

Musavada Veramani Sikkhapadam Samadiyami.

Sura Meraya Majja Pamadatthana Veramani Sikkhapadam Samadiyami.

(3x): Imani Panca Sikkhapadani Samadiyami.

I undertake to observe the precept to abstain from destroying living beings.

I undertake to observe the precept to abstain from taking things not given.

I undertake to observe the precept to refrain from commiting sexual misconduct.

I undertake to observe the precept to refrain from false speech.

I undertake to observe the precept to abstain from taking intoxicants and being heedlessness.

I undertake to observe the Five Precepts to the best of my ability.
