Maria McKee

Maria McKee started out in Lone justice back in the 1980ies with two album releases. She had a big hit with song 'Show me heaven' from the movie 'Days of thunder'. Her first solo album from 1989 has great songs like 'To miss someone', 'Breath', 'Has he got a friend for me' and many more. Her second album 'You gotta sin to get saved' from 1993 she continues develop sound from the first album. Her songs have both rock influence and country influence. Some songs have more rock and other more country influence. My favourite songs on this album is 'I can't make it alone', 'Precious time' and 'Why wasn't I more grateful'. This album was the one that had the biggest success here in Sweden. Her third album 'Life is sweet' is my personal favourite if her solo albums. This is the album that has the most rock influences of her three albums. Around the release of this album I saw her concert here in Lund (spring, 1996). After that concert I discovered the greatness of this album. It stars out with the song 'Scarlover' that is one of my favourite on the album. The next two songs are the two singles ('This perfect dress' and 'Absolutely barking stars') that was released from this album (that I know of). There are too many good songs to name all of them. Sadly the album was not that big commercial success that it should have been.

Her albums so far

  • Maria McKee (1989) ****

  • You gotta sin to get saved (1993) ***½

  • Life is sweet (1996)****½
