Day 3
Sunday March 27, 2022
I got up today and got my things together and ready for today's move.
At 8am I met up with Norm at the Copper Whisk Cafe for breakfast. I got bacon and eggs. Food was good and Norm covered the tab with points. Thanks for breakfast Norm!
After breakfast Norm headed out to Laughlin and I came back to the room to grab my things and head out.
It was still too early to go over to Wynn to try to check in on a Sunday so I opted for the Pinball Hall of Fame for a few hours. Always a cheap way to spend a few hours. However they can't keep up with the maintenance of the games and there are as many dark machines as there are machines that are working.
I went over to the next hotel for this trip, Encore. Since the last time I played here in December they sent me an offer I couldn't refuse of 3 nights, $500 free play and $450 resort credit. I still have their black card from tier matching my 7* card last summer. When I arrived I checked in at the tower suites area (it is a listed perk). Everything was in order and I was on the way to my room 1644.
This is a king room. There is a long entry from the door to the bedroom. The bedroom has a king bed and nightstands. There is also a dresser unit with flat screen TV and to the left a refreshment center and mini bar. Past the bedroom there is a living room with a couch, chaise and work desk. The room is equipped with Alexa. She'll turn on the lights and open the drapes among other things. There's also a tablet on the nightstand that also operates the lights, curtains, heat/AC and more. There is a view of Wynn, the pool, MSG Sphere, Mirage and golf course. The bathroom has a dual vanity sink, tub, shower stall and the toilet is in a separate room.
I got my things up to the room and settled in for the next 3 nights.
I had a few hours before dinner so hit the craps table. Limits were high for a Sunday afternoon so I had to be conservative. Luckily I was because the first three shooters set the point and went out. I was almost busted out after this. So much for getting some play in before dinner. Things smoothed out a bit but were still choppy. I was down to my last bet. Couldn't even take full odds and a guy hit his point. Then another and another. I started placing and had almost a full come back on his roll. Things remained decent and when I colored up for dinner I was up 6 bucks. I split it with the dealers.
For dinner I had a reservation at the buffet. Over the years I heard how good the buffet was here and I'm finally getting to check it out. I have to say it was quite good but if you're not going to eat crab legs, shrimp and sushi it's definitely not worth the $75 price tag with tax. I also lost a little respect for Wynn when I saw one of the cooks fill the chicken noodle soup directly from the food service bag that it comes in. I would have thought at a place like Wynn they would make things like that from scratch especially for $75. With that said I can say it was a high quality chicken noodle soup because I had some prior to seeing that.
I hit the craps table next when I was done with dinner. Limits are still higher than I'd like see them especially here at Wynn. I was priced out when every craps table that was open had a $100 limit on it.. I walked over to Encore and they had $25 games. A little rich but I can handle those. At 9pm they all went to $50 but they grandfathered people at $25. This session started well and I was quickly up before the bleeding started. Point, out was the theme for 4-5 shooters. Then it got good again. Then the point out theme would start.
We finally got a good shooter that hit 6 points but little else. That kept everything alive. It was a back and forth session but over 4 hours later I was the sole survivor on the table. I was up a bit so figured I'd take the dice. Not a good idea as I was out on the first roll. I colored up with with a little over $500 in winnings simply because I hate to play alone at craps so it worked out well.
After finishing up at craps I came back to the room to wrap it up.
Total win/loss for the day + $557
Total Comps for the day $329
