Day 3
Wednesday December 14, 2005

Hotel:
Today I have to check in to the Silverton. I don’t need the room and won’t be staying here but they sent me a birthday offer for a 2 piece luggage set, $50 in free play and 2 free nights. Since you must be a hotel guest to get the free stuff I had to make a reservation. Check in here is always fast and easy and in just a few minutes I was on my way to room 4049. The renovations to the rooms here made them nice but the hotel itself is still mediocre and the rooms seem a bit noisy to me here. Now for those of you that are keeping score, yes, I am registered in 3 hotels at the same time.

Gaming:
My room at the Silverton came with $100 in free-play (yes, they combined another offer with the one I stayed on) so after checking in I hit the casino. I took a shot at some dollar video poker with these credits hoping to hit a quick quad. Not only did I not hit a quad, I Only hit 3 hands higher than a push. Of the $100 in free play I only got $275 in action. I also had a $5 match play I wanted to burn but there was one problem. I couldn’t find a $5 blackjack table. I found it odd the Silverton had two $25 tables that were dead on the floor and every thing else was $10 except the carnival games. Silverton used to be a nice little local’s place but ever since their expansion seems to think they are on the strip.

I had another $50 free bet coupon for the Hard Rock so had to make a quick trip over there to play that. I saw the mid day craps crew and one of them said the table was ice cold. That made me choose to put my $50 coupon on the don’t pass line and the shooter promptly rolled an 11 as I lost my free bet.

Since today was double points over at Slots-a-Fun I went back over there for a while today and hit the triple plays again. My first move was getting my 2 free spins on the free pull machines. It was my lucky day as I got 1 cherry on the 2nd pull and won 50 cents! Little did I know at that point this would be the highlight of my evening. I started off with the triple plays again and tonight my luck was just terrible. I dropped $200 in 45 minutes in what was one of the worse VP sessions of my life. I took a short walk after this and switched from triple play to 5 play. This was just as bad but I was getting some play in. Today’s big problem was a lack of dealt winners, drawn quads and failure to improve dealt hands. The real killer this session though was going 5-6 hands in a row with no pay out at all. These hands will chew up a bankroll in a hurry. I was eventually dealt quad 5’s but it was too little too late. After a total of about 3 hours I dropped nearly $800 in what was probably my worst quarter VP experience ever.

Dining:
I had another coupon for the Hard Rock for a $20 food discount so I headed over there for a late lunch. I went with the chicken fried steak. This came with garlic mashed potatoes and a salad. It was pretty good for what it was. I topped it off with a hot fudge sundae. It was one of the worst sundaes I‘ve ever had. I think it was pre-made and stuck in the freezer. The hot fudge wasn’t hot and it was actually hard as a rock.

Dinner was a bowl of chicken noodle soup and a roast beef sandwich from the West Deli. It was pretty good and did the trick and was actually too much to eat in one sitting.

Total win/loss for the day: -$800
Total comps for the day: $326
