Let's Go Mets! July 10 - HOME GAME #44 vs Arizona Diamondbacks (42-42)

Noah Syndergaard (3-4) looks to continue from his best start against the Dodgers in LA last week. He will be faced by Chase Anderson (4-2) of the Diamondbacks. I was disappointed to hear last night that rookie sensation Steve Matz will be sidelined for 3 weeks or more with a pulled muscle in his back. Injuries ... does it ever end?

45-42

Lets Go Mets! The Mets finally got some run support in the first inning with back to back home runs by the slumping hitters Lucas Duda and Michael Cuddyer. That was enough for rookie Noah Syndergaard to get the victory as Noah threw a career high 116 pitches, striking out 13 Dbacks including 9 of the last 15 batters he faced. He allowed only 4 hits and 2 walks in his eight innings.

The Mets offense banged out 10 hits but were limited to the two home runs in the first for their 4 runs. It was enough as Arizona could not get the bats going against the Mets rookie pitcher. Jeurys Familia gave up a rare run in the 9th after a triple to the right field corner but shut down the Diamondbacks to earn his 25th save.

Game #44 view

After a long week of traveling during a mid season vacation, Deb and I hardly got to catch our breath before heading to Citi Field for the game. Our week of two nights at Niagara Falls for the 4th of July celebration, two nights in Cooperstown with a full day at the Baseball Hall of Fame, and then three nights at the beach in Rhode Island while visiting my brother was a lot of fun. I also went with my brother Dennis to see a Yankees-Red Sox Legends game in Bridgeport, CT. By the time Deb and I arrived back home in New York, we only had 2 and a half hours before time to leave for the Mets game today.

I am looking forward to the All*Star break to rest up for the remainder of the season. I have two friends from home coming out for games (Dodgers & Pirates) and my brother Dennis joining me for a couple Red Sox games. In September my friend Steve is planning to join me again for the Subway Series. And I have the Mets Fantasy Camp reunion soon too. The season has gone by quickly and I see no reason for it to slow down now. With the Mets only 2 games behind the Nationals in the NL East and only 2 games out in the Wild Card race, I just might find myself sitting through a pennant race the final two months.

Just one of the Mets aces

Yet another Mets home win!
